Twelfth Entry

September 3

It wasn't until after his analysis of Lucy and my showing him John's journal did Helsing start listening to me. It was satisfying to have to translate the shorthand for him. He clearly didn't like relying on a woman for help. Well, I don't much like you either, old man. Hugh Jackman did a much better job. Maybe I can go visit him next after I get out of whatever this is.

Anyway, since I'd managed to grab his full attention on the matter of Lucy, I'd had no intention of letting it go. We could finally get down to business by saving Lucy. I partially hate to admit it, but even though she's a fictional character, she's beginning to grow on me. It's her always cheerful demeanor and kind nature. She takes care to try not to worry others even when she's suffering.

How could she have ever been viewed as "monstrous" in the eyes of society? Lucy was never openly flirtatious. She was always soft-spoken. At the other end of the spectrum was Mina. She was so much more forward as a character—even more-so now that I've taken over.

Who knows, maybe Lucy and I will switch roles...
