Seventh Entry
August 30
I've finally made it to Lucy's house! She was shocked to see me, but also joyful. It's weird to meet a character from this novel that I actually liked during my initial read. The others tended to annoy me.
For a long moment, I'd been struck dumbfounded. Words escaped me until she pulled me inside. She seemed worse for wear, though she swore up and down that she was well and confessed to getting ready to send Mina a letter.
Lucy is asleep now and I'm sitting up in my room. I'm finally realizing how much I'd taken electricity for granted. I miss my desk lamp. There is nothing but a candle or lantern light to write in. I'd be shocked if I don't soon need glasses for the strain this is putting on my eyes. I guess I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it. For now, I'm ready to stay up to make sure Lucy stays safe.
When I first saw her earlier, her skin was paler than in Mina's memories. Her eyes also seemed to have less of a shine to them. It's clear that she's been having trouble. Her diary—sorry Lucy—backs up my thoughts on this matter. She hasn't been able to sleep because of nightmares and, when she does sleep, she seems to be awakened by a noise at her window. This has been the count. I vaguely recall, thanks to Mina's memories, the same event occurring. I'm hoping that I may be able to scare him away tonight and all will be well.
It's already going onto September. I don't remember the exact day that Helsing comes to visit Lucy, but I know it's soon.
I'm hearing something at the window!
