Jungkook stared at his reflection for a long time, as if he was frozen in place. His hair was fixed up and the suit he had bought made him look confident even though he felt sick in his stomach. Nervous was an understatement to what he was feeling. In an hour, the hearing will begin that will determine sole physical custody of his kids.
There was a knock on the front door and in came Jimin dressed up as well.
"Hey, you ready?" Jimin had a smile on, his way of making Jungkook feel better.
Jungkook held out his tie. "I need some help with this. I haven't tied one on since your wedding."
"I got you," Jimin said, gladly taking the tie. Jungkook stood in front of Jimin as he tied the tie, although Jimin had to stand on his tip toes to reach him.
"How are you feeling," Jimin asked.
"I feel like crap. I'm just ready for this to be over," Jungkook said in a complaining tone.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine," Jimin said, adjusting the tie into place.
Jimin turned Jungkook towards the mirror to see himself. "There, you're all set."
Jungkook sighed. "Jimin, what if things go bad today?"
Jimin massaged Jungkook shoulders to ease his stiffness. "It won't, you're going to do good. We all are and we're going to make sure the judge sees that. Just calm down and be confident."
"Thanks for being here, Jimin."
Jimin smiled and he patted Jungkook on the back. "You're welcome. Now, let's go. Everyone is waiting outside." Jungkook nodded in agreement and they both made their way down to the lobby.
Jin, Yoongi, and Jay were all waiting near the front desk. They were all in their suits and Jin and Yoongi instantly smiled when Jungkook and Jimin made their way.
"Alright, you ready," Jin asked.
"Yeah," Jungkook replied. He turned his attention to Jay. "Did you call to check on Taemin?"
"Yeah, Alice said he's good. He just ate breakfast," Jay answered.
"Alice has it covered. You don't need to worry about it," Jin said. Jungkook had decided it was best to keep Taemin at home and Alice would be taking care of him while they were gone.
"Okay, taxi's here. We don't want to be late," Yoongi informed everyone and they made their way outside.

The courthouse was big and silent enough that you could hear their footsteps. It made Jungkook more anxious than he already was. He kept looking around, as if he could feel a million eyes watching him.
"There's Taehyung," Jimin announced. They all turned their attention to where he was.
Taehyung was sitting at a bench near a big set of doors with four other individuals: Hoseok, Namjoon, Jihun, and what they could assume was his lawyer, a middle-aged man with a serious face. They were talking amongst themselves quietly enough that you couldn't tell what they were saying.
Taehyung sat with his leg crossed on top of the other, his suit outdoing the appearances of the other two. They still hadn't noticed that they had entered the building.
"Mr. Jeon, pleasure to see you again." A lady in a pantsuit walked towards Jungkook and the rest and extended her hand for a handshake.
"You too, Mrs. Byers." This was Jungkook's lawyer that he had been working with for the case.
"Alright, well it's about time to start. Let's go ahead and take our seats so we can rundown through some things," she said.
They began to walk towards the door, but stopped when Taehyung called out to Jungkook.
Jungkook turned his head as Taehyung stood up and buttoned his suit. "Hey, it's nice to see you again," he said in a cool tone.
"Hey everyone," Jihun said and everyone greeted back.
Hoseok stood up right after and put his hand on Taehyung's shoulder. "Hope you guys had a nice flight over."
Jin, Jimin, and Yoongi nodded their heads, but the whole situation felt awkward.
"Listen, Jungkook. I just want to say―" Taehyung was cut off by Mrs. Byers.
"I'm sorry, but it's in my client's best interest if we refrain from communicating outside of the court hearing," she said in a professional tone. She turned her attention to Taehyung's lawyer. "Mr. Park," she said, shaking his hand, before they made their way inside.
Jungkook and Mrs. Byers sat in the front desk on the left side and everyone else sat at the benches behind them. The court room was a moderate size and Jungkook's attention turned to Mrs. Byers as she started taking out documents from her briefcase.
"Alright so remember, the judge is determining which one of you is fit for sole custody. That means you need to keep your interests away from Mr. Kim and focus it on your children. We have the stronger testimonies so don't let Mr. Kim and his lawyer bring you down. Things said here can become ugly, so don't let it get to you," Mrs. Byers said.
"I just hope things don't backfire," Jungkook admitted, his nerves getting the best of him.
"Mr. Kim has no strong accusations against you. We have the power, but they will turn your strengths into weaknesses. Just keep a level head and we'll get through this."
A few minutes later, Taehyung and the rest made their way inside. Taehyung and his lawyer sat on the right side with Namjoon and Hoseok at the bench. As his lawyer kept talking with Taehyung, Jungkook noticed he kept looking back at him, but he tried to ignore him. Jungkook turned around to look at the others and Jin, Jimin, and Yoongi sent him supportive thumbs up. Jay, on the other hand, was busy death staring Taehyung.
Shortly after, the sheriff came and stood in the front. "All rise, the honorable Judge Elizabeth Bane presiding." They all stood up as the judge made her way in from the door at the front left and sat in her seat. Everyone sat down.
"We are here today to determine a modification for three minors between two divorced parents, Jeon Jungkook and Kim Taehyung . The witness pool from each side will be brought to the stand and testify. Each witness will be brought up once, at which time both sides will have a chance to examine that witness."
Judge Bane turned her attention and both Jungkook and Taehyung. "Before we proceed, custody cases are always brutal and they hurt both sides. Your children included. Things said here can be harsh and can't be unsaid. So I always ask before we begin if both parties are sure that they want to proceed."
Judge Bane looked at Jungkook for a response. Jungkook was silent for a second, but then answered. "Yes, your Honor."
Judge Bane turned to Taehyung. "Mr. Kim?"
"Let's proceed, your Honor."
Judge Bane nodded. "This court is now in session to determine sole physical custody of Kim-Jeon Jay, Kim-Jeon Jihun, and Jeon Taemin." And with a quick hammer of the gavel, everything was on the line.
