Chapter 4: the Journey

Felice dragged her suitcase, muttering to herself in frustration. She sighed, dropping her suitcase to the ground and staring at the portal.

The SALT portal, to be exact.

Her mother was waiting for her. She swiftly brushed her hair behind her shoulder, and said loudly, "come, darling. It's time for us to go." The portal opened a bit more, and it stretched until both of them could fit into it, if they walked in one at a time. Her mother went in, and Felice followed soon after (she got the suitcase off the ground again).

She stepped in the portal, and gasped aloud. "So this is Salt," she muttered. "strange. I'd imagine'd it'd have more... Ice blue. Or just ice in general."

"That's Snow, my darling. Not Salt." Her mother trotted away in her high heels. Felice wondered how she could walk that fast, especially since her mother ALWAYS wore ice-cold high heels... "Hurry up, Felice. Viens ici." Felice hurried to catch up, dragging her suitcase along. Her mother sighed, and rolled her eyes, lifting one of her hands as Salt raised off the ground, carrying Felice's suitcase, zooming it away from her, all the way ahead until Felice couldn't see it anymore.

They walked for a while, and Felice looked around her surroundings. There were great, giant buildings that Felice thought kinda looked like a... Knife, just pointed at the sky. And the ground seemed to be made of solid salt; it glowed, like white crystal. There were lakes of pristine water, the clearest Felice had ever seen. It looked like... A futuristic paradise.

They reached a hotel, which was fancier than all those knife-like buildings. It had a giant dome, which was a bit translucent, and you could see so many people chatting and having fun in there. It even had a giant crystal in the center, a sapphire, held by silver like a gem in a ring. It kinda looked like the hotel from Sing 2, Felice guessed. Maybe they were inspired? She didn't know how they got the footage, though. It's from her world. The human world. She wouldn't put it past the Salt Elders, though, especially if they were actually the "all-powerful creatures" her mom described them as.

They went inside, and Felice looked around once more. There were fashion boutiques, there were snack bars, all of them somehow fit inside the giant dome hotel... It was more like a mall than a hotel. But she was sorely mistaken, as they reached their rooms.*

Felice noticed her mom held two keys. She handed one to Felice. She was confused. "Aren't we in the same room?" Her mom rolled her eyes. "Your not a baby, Felice. Plus, I have my own quarters in the Salt Palace. Now, good day. I'll see you 2 weeks from now; That's when the ceremony starts."

Felice entered her room slowly. It was beautiful. It was decorated like the ocean, with little pieces of snow or snowflakes somewhere, like a mix of Salt, Rain and Snow. She smiled contently, plopping down on the bed.

"I can't wait."
