Chapter 15: Goron Island
( 4015 words)
(y/n)'s POV
Standing on the deck as we made our way to the eastern side, I felt the wind go through my hair as it blew it around. Soon I could see Goron Island, walking to the rail I leaned against it and held on for the cyclone that was going to show up.
The ship had stopped and I could hear Linebeck downstairs from the deck. "Wow! What in the world is this?!" A cyclone showed up and picked us up, moving us to a different spot. Looking around as the sky was dark.
"Whoa! That was crazy! Who did that cyclone think it was, anyway? The engine is soaked... we're stuck!" there was a slight pause as I walked into the control room. "Uh... Hang on... Does something feel odd to you? Ahhh! Look!" Getting up the stairs, Link and I looked at what he was talking about.
"What the hell is that disgusting thing?! And at a time like this. This day couldn't get any worse! Ok, we need to stand up to it! A monster like that, who knows how to deal with it... Maybe..." I jumped a little as I heard him get louder. "OH! FIRE! Fire! Fire! And fire some more! Yeah, as long as we keep firing we might just survive this... I'll man the machinery. you just keep firing." he said.
Throwing the cannon from the deck, we started to hit the eyes of the mosnter that had showed up. Hitting the eyes on each side of its body we were able to continue what we were doing. Sighing a little the cannon went back into the deck.
"Wow, how'd we survive that?! We sent it to the bottom of the sea! And, hey! The engine got a change to dry out! Set a course!"
Getting to the island I stepped off and stretched. Looking around Ciela started to talk. "Hey, look at the map! There's no houses... I wonder if there is a pure metal here?"
Linebeck walked over. "Places like this always have treasure, somewhere!"
"Fine, then. You supposedly have a nose for this... so we'll follow your instincts" I glanced over to Ciela as she looked at him. He crossed his arms.
"Can't say if its a pure metal we'll find. But I'm sure it'll be something." he sighed gently. "I'm chewing on Oshus'... er.. Ocean King's offer. He'll grant any wish I can whip up. But what would you wish for? I'm curious! Treasure? Or maybe you'll wish for three more wishes."
"Linebeck!" Ciela yelled. "You don't understand Link at all, do you?! He's doing this for Tetra! The Ocean King, and for peace to the seas!"
Linebeck put his hands on his hips. "Hmmm... you're sort of a good guy, Link." He paused. "....Wow. That was out of character for me! Blech, go and get some of that pure metal!" he turned and walked back to the deck.
Ciela looked at us. "Well, that was weird. Linebck must have eaten something funny. Whatever, lets go look for that pure metal." Glancing at Linebeck as they got ready to find the pure metal. Link had turned to look at me.
"(y/n)? What are you doing?" Ciela had asked. Looking at the fairy as I saw Linebeck on the deck of the ship. "I'll catch up, I'll talk to Linebeck" I said as they nodded. I went back to the ship and grabbed Linebeck's hand and pulled him into the control room. He looked at me for a moment but before he could ask what I was doing, I kissed him.
Looking at me he blinked slowly. "What... was that for?" he asked as he wrapped his arms around me. Shrugging I smirked gently. "Something's gotten into you, you didn't say anything about wanting treasure." I said. He smiled a little and blushed. He looked at me and put his forehead to mine as he held my hips.
"There's one thing that's gotten into me." he said as he looked at me. Tilting my head a little I looked at him. "What is it?" I asked as he smiled a little. "You did.." Blushing immediately he chuckled at me. Sitting down he pulled me over to him. Running my hand through his hair I hummed a little. He looked up at me before he stood.
"Go and get the pure metal with Link." He leaned down and nibbled on my ear. "I'll give you attention later" Blushing deeply I looked at him. He kissed and nibbled on my neck a little before he let me go. "Go find that pure metal" he said.
Going to the door I turned and looked at him for a moment. "Linebeck?" I asked as he had turned to his map. "Yes, my treasure?" he asked as he used a compass on the sea charts. I walked over to him and kissed him quickly. He smiled before he pulled me into a kiss again. "I love you" I said as he looked at me. I watched his smile grow and then he smiled some more. He looked at me before he blinked.
"You're distracting me, go help the kid." I went to turn and leave but he grabbed my hand and pulled me into a kiss again. "I love you too" Leaving I ran to catch up with Link and Ciela. Finding them leaving the Chief's house I looked at them, the conversation with Linebeck still in my mind.
"What did he say?" I asked as Ciela fluttered around. "His name is Biggoron and that the pure metal is a potent Goron symbol. That he wouldn't speak of it to us, since we're outsiders. We must be a member of the tribe to learn more." Nodding I crossed my arms.
"There must be something we could do." I said. They both nodded gently. "Biggoron wants us to talk to everyone on the island. Young and old, and he wants us to count the amount of houses on the island."
Sighing gently I grabbed the map. Nodding and we were off to find the Goron People. Marking where the adults and where the children were, we made our way around the map. Finding all that we could, and talking to them.
Getting to the adult goron that was the closest to the harbor, we saw him staring at the S.S Linebeck. "Look at that ship, such a proud beauty. Time loses all meaning, when I gaze upon her... Oh, if only she were mine! What?! You've heard that somewhere else?! Doubtful, outsider!"
Looking at link for a moment as the Goron had reminded us Doudo, the man from Mercay Island that loved the S.S Linebeck as well. Gazing at the ship, my eyes were brought to Linebeck as he was standing next to it, his hair dancing in the wind. (Here you can see the majestic Linebeck, guarding his ship)
Going into a house and talking to a child goron there, we left. Running to the west side of the isle we talked to one last adult goron in his house. Leaving, Ciela spoke to us. "I think that does it! We've talked to everyone on the island! Let's go see, Biggoron"
Racing Link back to the chief's house I beat him to it. He had smiled and shook his head as we walked inside. Walking up to the Goron Chief we smiled a little.
"So you have met everyone in the tribe. I can sense your burning desire to rank among the Gorons. outsider. But does the desire to become a goron burn to the core? Let me probe into the matter with a game of questions!"
Paying the 20 rupees, we started to game. Remembering the answers that were to this game, I drew in a breath. Nervousness playing at me. "First, let me explain the rules to you. I will ask you six questions, and give you a prize for each correct answer. But, get just one wrong and I'll take everything back! I will also give you a Gorohint that eliminates one of the wrong answers"
Glancing to Link we shared a look, this was going to be an ordeal. "First question! How many Gorons live on the island?"
Looking back at the map I counted the amount of gorons, young and old on it. "There are, 14 gorons on the island." he nodded and handed us a green rupee. Watching as Link put it in his pocket we got the next question.
"Second question! How many houses are on this island?" Looking at Link so he could answer i nodded gently. "This island has 6 houses" The goron gave a smiled and handed us a blue rupee. Link stuck it in his pocket.
"Third question! The goron at this spot, what is he staring at?" Point to the map I smiled a little. "He's staring at our ship, he thought it was beauty and says he loses time when he gazes upon it." Nodding he handed us a red rupee. Slipping it in Link's wallet we were ready for the next question. We're half way there. (Squidward on a chair!)
"You are amazing! You have answered the first half of questions with ease! But how will you fare with the remaining three?! Let's find out, outsiders! What color were the odd creatures on the cliff?"
Tilting my head I remembered the Electric Chuchus we had gotten rid of for a child Goron earlier. "Yellow!" Ciela said as she looked at the Goron Chief. "Correct you are!" He handed us another red rupee.
"You are so smart, outsider! Your desire to be one of us burns bright! But two questions remain, I wonder if you will survive initiation... fifth question! How many rupees have I given you so far?"
"66 in total, one green, one blue, and three red" His eyes furrowed for a moment. "Right you are! Giving us a Big Green Rupee we smiled gently. This was the last question. Gulping gently i looked at Link. "Oh, I can barely tell you from a Goron, stranger! So close, so close! Answer this final question right, and you will be Goron member! Of those Gorons outside, how many are adults?"
"4!" I said as we watched him frown. "Is that your ultimate answer, almost Goron?!" Nodding gently we looked at him. He paused, "Correct! Congratulations! You are now an official brother, and sister of our proud goron tribe!"
Sighing deeply as I was relieved. The questions were rather nerve wracking. He gave us a wisdom gem and looked at us. "Now that you both are an official member, i need to collect the dues! Just a one time payment, of course! 146 rupees" That wasn't bad "Both!" Sighing deeply I looked at Link as we paid the Goron Chief.
Ciela floated over. "So chief... how about that pure metal?"
He looked at us. "Oh, yes... I am growing forgetful in my age. The Pure Metal is in our temple, I put it there for safekeeping. Little Gongoron will show you the temple." Talking to the chief's son, he led us to the temple. That was after we chased him around the island. I hated this kid when I played the game myself. I answered his father's questions correctly, he just wanted to make things difficult.
Running around the maze had had led us through, we got a power gem, and a Big Green Rupee. Heading for the temple, we dropped to a lower platform and found a Like Like. Hitting it with the bow and arrow, it died letting us through the spikes. Getting in to the temple we looked around.
"Hey.... No sign of Gongoron. Let's push farther and find that kid!" Pulling out the map I looked at it. Looking at the tablet nearby I read it.
"Stay out of the quicksand!" Standing up I hummed gently. "You heard the tablet guys," i said as I scratched my chin a little. Heading for the east side of the room, we threw moms at Beamos and Blue Chuchus.
Grabbing an odd shaped block, we pulled it to a switch. Lowering some spikes we were able to get to the other side of the area. Avoiding more Blue Chuchus we went to the north side of the room. Going to grab one of the odd block, it started to move as spikes came out of the back of it. Jumping away from it we watched it.
Reaching in the bomb bag, I pulled out bomb and threw it at it. Exploding on impact, the spikes went away and we could push it onto another switch. The door that was at the Southeastern corner of the room, opened. Running over to it, we threw a bomb at another creature. Link used the shovel on a geyser, while I pushed it onto a switch.
Sitting next to it as I leaned on it I breathed heavily. "I don't think these things need to be this heavy." looking at the map, a bridge had appeared. Getting up the geyser we went to where the bridge showed up. Looking at a switch that was where we were earlier, I gave Link a bomb and he threw it at it. Exploding the switch turned green and gave us a chest behind us. Opening it we got a treasure map.
Crossing the bridge and dropping to a new area, two more of those Armos Statues showed up. Throwing bombs at them, I sighed heavily. This opened a door to the south side of the room, we couldn't reach earlier. Walking through it we found an Eye Switch to our left. Hitting it with an arrow a chest appeared on a tile behind us. Opening it we gained a Red Rupee.
Stepping on a switch that was five feet from the chest, it lowered on the spikes that were at the bottom of the stairs. Heading further west by some pillars we bombed a cracked wall and looked at the Gossip-Stone that was at the end of the hall. I went to talk to it while Link went into the small cave.
It told me, there weren't any chests left on this floor. Nodding I walked off after Link. Seeing him staring towards the east side of the room, I turned to see that we couldn't get to the rest of the room, since we were blocked by some quicksand. Looking at the map I shook my head and left the room we were in. Walking down to the next pair of pillars I threw a bomb at the wall, showing us the correct path.
Looking at Link as he was surprised, we ventured forth. We went down the stairs in the Northwestern corner of this area. Seeing that it led into a battle room, I pulled my dagger while, Link pulled his sword. Fighting the Beamos and Red Bubbles we defeated them easily. The door blocking the stairs, and the spikes that were at the end of the hallway lowered.
Running around the quicksand we found another Gossip-Stone. Hitting it, it started to talk to us. "There are two treasure chests left on this floor!"
Ciela showed up and giggled. "Linebeck wouldn't be happy knowing we missed two chances for treasure" Frowning a little I looked at the map. She didn't understand that he wasn't the greedy man we had met at the beginning of this adventure. I was willing to bet she didn't think he was able to change.
Heading for the north area we heard someone yell at us. "Goro-Link! Goro-(y/n)! This way!" Ciela came out and looked at the goron. "Hey! So that's where Gongoron was at this entire time."
He had frowned and fiddled with his hands. "Not really, monsters had found me and threw me in here. Please, please help me out of here!" Nodding he bowed to us gently. "Thank you, I'm very sorry that I ran away from you earlier. Really!"
Turning around to figure out how to get him out of there, an Eye Brute showed up. Pulling my dagger while Link shot an arrow into it's eye, I slashed away at it. Jumping out of the way of its attacks. Watching the monster disappear, Gongoron started to talk to us.
"A-a-amazing! You actually defeated that monster I... caught!" Bowing again he thanked us. "Now I can run freely again!" Being able to have him help us. He killed the Rock Chuchus that were just south of where he was being held. With this, the spikes were lowered and we could get through the next area. Seeing some Like Likes appear, we defeated those quickly as we tried our best not to get sucked into one.
Stepping on the switch, we called Gongoron over and him step on the mirroring switch. This made a Big Chest appear. Opening the chest, we got Bombchus. The spikes that were blocking, Gongoron lowered and he was able to kill the snake like enemies. This let a door open and we ran to the new room. Fighting the same snake like creatures, a chest appeared once they were defeated.
Getting a Goron Amber from the chest, we used a bombchu to get through a hole in the wall and run across the quick sand that was on the other side of the room. Hitting the switch at the end of its path. This lowered some spikes blocking the next staircase.
Before we could get to it we heard Gongoron. He was going to go on his own as he found a hole he could fit through, but before we could object we were able to object, he was already gone. Moving onto the previous floor, we used bombchu to his a switch that gave us a bridge, this let us get to the entrance. Running down the stairs to the second basement floor we found a Like Like and looked around.
Seeing yet another Gossip-Stone we walked over to it. Breaking the boulders that were next to it, we saw a switch. Letting a bombchu get to another one we hit ours the same time the bombchu got to the last one. Watching the spikes lower we made our way over to them. Going down to the third basement floor we found some Moblins. Beating up those we kept moving.
Opening chest that appeared, we got a red rupee. Standing next to a red switch, we released a bombchu to get to the other switch. Hitting the red switch and lowering the red blocks and then lowering the blue ones as it changed colors to let the bombchu through.
Getting around a section of spikes that were gone, we found four more Armos Statues. Using the bombs on those, we pushed each one onto their respective switches. This let us go down the hallway to see that we were close to getting the Boss Key. Walking up the stairs to the last floor, I hummed a little. Almost over, almost over.
Stepping on a switch, a bridge connected to the other side of the room. Running to the east we stepped into another battle room and saw two Eye Brutes show up. Biting my lip a bit, we looked at them and fought them one by one. This time I used the bow and arrow as he slashed away at the two.
Once they were dead we could carry onto the next area. Hitting a switch this lowered some spikes. Hearing the timer, we tried to make a run for the spikes. Only to have chuchus and the all to familiar Green Goo get in the way.
Standing next to the spikes, we sent a bombchu out and got across the spikes. Standing on the small strip that was availiable to keep us out of the quicksand we used the bombchus to reach both switches. This gave us another Big Chest. Running for it, we opened it. Holding the Boss Key we made our way back to the boss door.
Putting it in the slot we got to the next area, standing in the little break room, between the boss arena and the dungeon itself we grabbed some, hearts, and bombchus. Reaching the top of the stairs, we saw the Armored Lizard, Dongorongo.
Before we could start the battle. Gongoron came out of the small hole towards the Northeast. "How about we fight this monster together?" He said as he looked at us and waved his arms around. Watching him as he rolled and jumped into the lizard, he knocked him onto his side and stunned him.
Grabbing the bombchus we let it go as it went into his mouth. Cringing a little I watched as the lizard slashed around. That'll give you some heart burn. The goron child knocked him over again and we did this two more times. Once it was defeated the door opened and we could cross with a bridge.
Gongoron looked at us and smiled. "We defeated the monster. The pure metal is in there, I'll go get it." He left into the entrance way that opened up. Walking over the bridge we watched as the door closed and Dongorongo got back up. Sighing and shaking my head I looked at the monster. This is just amazing. Watching as a giant egg like thing formed on it's back and it started to try and pull us into its mouth as if it was a Like Like, we threw bombs into its mouth.
Running around as it stood up on its hind legs, we waited for the bomb to explode and it fell to its side. Hitting the blue spot on its back as much as we could before it got up. Dodging the fire balls it shot at us as if it were Bowser, we waited for it to start trying to eat us again. Throwing a bomb into it's mouth, it stood up and the bomb exploded. Slashing at it's back we did this one more time.
Once it was defeated, we watched it as it fell over and died for real this time. Pulling the Phantom Hourglass from his pocket as the creature turned into the Sand of Hours, Link held it up. This added two more minutes into it. Picking up the heart container, we went into the room that Gongoron went into earlier.
Walking up to the altar that held the red crystal Crimsonine, we picked it up. Ciela showed up and looked at us. "Guess that Linebeck's nose for treasure really works!" She said before we were able to walk through the blue flower that was on the floor. It took us to the entrance of the temple.
Getting to the harbor we looked at linebeck. "Did you get the pure metal?" he asked as Link nodded. "Then come aboard!" he said. Before we could go onto the deck of the ship, Ciela stopped us.
"Wait, we have to consult the elder goron about the pure metal first!"
Linebeck crossed his arms. "This is no time to worry about protocol, just take the stuff! What's more important, goron pleasantries or saving Tetra?"
Ciela pointed at him as she got in his face. "We can't just steal it, it's dear to the gorons!" Walking to the elder's house, I could feel that I was starting to get a little sore from all of this running around. Good cardio, so I couldn't really complain. Walking into the house, Biggoron started to clap.
"Gongoron, told me all about your efforts! To thank you, you can take the Cimsonine. It is our pure metal. Boil, bake or forge it, it is yours to do as you wish." As a parting gift, he gave us a red rupee. Going to the ship I walked by Linebeck and laid on the deck. Watching as the two looked at me I sighed gently. "Don't ask, let's just go." Leaving the port we made our way to the next island we needed.
