Chapter 1: Washed Ashore

(Y/n)'s POV

I could hear the sounds of waves hitting onto a beach. Furrowing my brows as it was oddly bright. Turning over and trying to get away from the brightness I felt something wet. Opening my eyes a little I noticed that I was laying on the beach. My feet and the ends of my pants were soaked. Sighing I stood up and groaned a little as my head had started throbbing.

Looking around the beach that I had washed up on, there were a couple trees that were around the beach. Scratching my head I furrowed my brows. Where am I? How did I get here? All I remember was playing my favorite game, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, there was a bright light, and I ended up here. looking around at my surroundings I noticed something. I was on what looked like to be Mercay Island. The same island that Oshus lives on, and the one that Link meets Linebeck on. Brushing the sand from my clothes I started to walk around the beach. Crossing a small board walk that was nearby I found a small house with a little fence around it, there was a single chicken.

Walking up to the door I knocked on it gently. A young woman with a red dress and brown hair opened the door. When she saw me she smiled gently.

"Yes? Do you need something sweetie?" she had asked.

"Yes, Ma'am. I seem to be lost. Do you know how to get into town?"

Stepping out to stand next to me she looked towards the east. "There's a bridge over there that I would normally tell you to cross to get into town. But the bridge had crumbled into the small river that it resides above. For now, you can go see our neighbor, Old Man Oshus. He should know how to help you get into town without being on the bridge."

Nodding gently I smiled. "Thank you, so much!" I said. Leaving as I waved and she returned it I went to the other house about a hundred yards away from where I was. Getting up the steps to the hill it sat on, I knocked on the door. An old man with grey hair and a beard opened the door. Holding his staff in his right hand he looked at me.

"I've been expecting you"

Raising a brow as I looked at him, he moved to let me in the door. "How did you know I was going to be at your door?" Turning to look at him as he closed the door behind him, he walked over to the chair that was in front of me and sat down, after leaning his staff on the wall behind him. He looked at me for a moment before he started talking.

"The reason you're here, is because I transported you here. Of course, this used the rest of my power, so with that said, you'll be stuck here."

"Stuck? Here?! Oshus, are you kidding me? Why am I here? What am I supposed to do?"

He rose his hand to silence me. "I brought you here to aid Link, Linebeck and Ciela in their journey. With your vast knowledge of what to do during their adventure, you'll be a great help to their efforts."

Sighing gently as i nodded. This was my one chance to get back home. If I failed I would be stuck here forever. But being stuck in a Zelda game couldn't be that bad, could it? "All right. I'll help them. Where can I find Link?"

"He should be here any second now, I sent him to get the sword from the cave I use for storage nearby." Just as he finished speaking, the door opened. A little boy dressed completely in green walked through the door. A small fairy peeking out from behind him as he entered.

"Grandpa, we got the sword! Oh? Who's this?"

"Ciela this is, (y/n). She's here to help you on your journey. But before you can get started, I have to show you how to handle that sword properly." he said and the boy nodded. Standing to the side of the house i watched as he jumped at the different logs that were around the room.

Oshus let us leave after he was done showing us how to handle the sword. Stepping outside, Ciela flew in front of me. She looked at me for a moment before she looked to Link. Speaking up as I remembered where to go next I looked around.

"I heard about another way around the island to get into town. Shouldn't be get going?" I asked.

Link looked at me and nodded gently. We started to head to the northern part of the island where a few red Chuchus showed up to attack link. Jumping at the three monsters he defeated them easily. One dropped a Rupee. Link picked it up and put it in his wallet. Walking around the corner of the little cliff side, I spotted a Gossip-Stone. Hitting it, it told us to roll into a big tree. Doing that a red Rupee fell from the tree. Link picked it up and we were on our way. Following him into the cave we looked around. It had a damp smell as we could hear the faint dripping of water from the ceiling.

Walking through the cave there were a few rocks in the way. Picking up one and moving the other with my foot we were able to press on. There was a door with a rather large key hole in it. Tilting my head and looking around I spotted a chest. As Link went to open it 4 red Chuchus showed up, once defeated he got the key from the chest.

Throwing it to me I opened the door and pushed it open. As Link followed me into the next part of the cave we looked around. There were red pull tabs on the wall across from us. Looking at Link he shrugged. Going to the right of the room we we pushed the rock that was blocking the entrance. Walking inside there were some Keese flying around. Link defeated those and I looked at a small stone that had writing on it.

Kneeling down to read it while Link opened the chest i hummed. "When pulling the levers, Second is first, Last is the second from the right."

Turning to look at Link to see if he heard me, he was holding the treasure that was in the chest. it was another red Rupee. Putting it into his wallet we made our way to the smaller room on the left side of the room with the switches. There was a slate in front of the entrance that was blocked by another stone. I read the slate aloud.

"The third is the farthest to the right."

Looking to link while I stood up he looked at me. "There, we don't need to read the last slate since we have three of the four switch orders, right?"

He nodded and I smiled. "Come on, let's pull them. you get the right, I'll get the left."

Walking to our designated switches, I pulled the one that was second to the left, then the one next to it. Link pulled his outer most one and then the last one. We heard the all too familiar chime that the puzzle was solved, and a key fell from the ceiling. Getting the key we opened the door. Going up the stairs we got to the next room.

In here there were some rats. Feeling my skin crawl as Link slashed away at them, I shivered. Hearing a gently clinking noise as one of the rats ran around, I looked over to see that a rat had a key stuck to it.

"Link that one has a key"

Looking up from a green Rupee as he picked it up he saw the rat and nodded.

"How do we get it?" Ciela asked. Looking to where she was fluttering I nodded. "We have to push something in front of the little rat hole it's running through, that way when it tries to turn around and run from us, it has to come back this way. Then Link can hit it."

She nodded happily. Link smiled and I helped him move the stone in front of the mouse hole. Going to the other side i looked at Link and we waited for the rat to come back out with the key. Once it did, Link hit it and we got it from the rat. Opening the next door we were able to get to the next area.

Getting out of the cave after Link killed some Keese on the way out, we were finally in the town. Making our way to the Harbor as we had to find Linebeck, I hummed when I heard a voice.

"Look at his remarkable ship! What do you think of it? Oh, just look at her! What a ship, such a proud beauty! Time loses all meaning when I gaze upon her. Oh, is she were only mine! She belongs to a sea Captain that goes by the name, Linebeck. A fearless soul, i hear. He's seen the whole world, yet never seen defeat! What? You're searching for Linebeck? The Captain usually drops anchor at the Milk Bar, but I haven't seen him in days."

Nodding and thanking the man for the information we made our way to talk Midori, the owner of the Milk Bar. Walking up to the counter I looked at the taller man.

"A new customer! Oh, hearty greetings! Lots of local customers come in here to while away the hours! Bit empty at the moment. Aren't you a tad young to be in here? Take no offence, miss. You'll be more than welcome when you've gone a little farther in life! Looking for Linebeck? Sure i know him! And that chair there knew him recently! Linebeck just dashed out, saying he was off to the Temple of the Ocean King. I tried to stop that crazy fellow, but he went off towards the north side of our isle."

The man next to me spoke up. "Did i my ears just hear that right?! He went to the Temple of the Ocean King?! Listen up, young 'un. Listen good. The Ocean King is the defender of all creation. And that temple up on the hill was built in his honor. None more worthy! Sadly, a curse was laid on the place that sucks the soul from all who enter. None dare step into the Temple of the Ocean King, so put it out of your mind! Can't say where your friend's gone, but I'll tell you this; stay out of there!"

Midori spoke up again. "Yes, steer clear. That's what we all do. But the odd visitor now and then can't resist it."

"Where is it?"

"What?! Where is it? It's the northern most building on the isle. You're not really going to go there are you?"

Smiling at the bartender i nodded. "We need to talk to Linebeck. Of course we are." Following Link out of the building I looked at the ship again. Linebeck had been my favorite character since I can remember. I didn't know he was, but he just was. Now meeting him may be a real treat, or even a trick.
