Chapter Six//Float Catch Bleed Death Stiff Push
Chapter Six// Float Catch Bleed Death Stiff Push'\
Her heart pounded as she rushed around the corner slamming right into the small freckled face boy. He was weak looking. His arms slumped as he held the launcher, almost like it was to heavy. For one the girl didn't feel like the onlye hopeless trainee. She then felt bad for calling him helpless.
She raised her launcher, heart pounded in her ears. The boy looked at her as in a slight plead for help. She understood he wasn't sure what to do. Sadly she didn't either. Her eyes darted ahead to see the redhead who stood calm and collected. It was like she was bored.
"I think we should copy her," it was a suggestion that might just help the two helpless. Her eyes still glued on the redhead she waited for the boy to reply.
"I don't know Elsa," The freckled boy said, "Who knows what Merida gonna do."
This was the truth, they'd done the simulations millions of times. All slightly different and Merida always was doing something dangerous. She took three shots from a launcher from a enemy before diving on him so he'd get shocked as well.
Nothing much was going on in Merida head besides when would the get lunch. She was starving, when she was hungry she was cranky.
"Hiccup where's Frost?" Elsa asked the freckled face by.
Hiccup shrugged his eyes on Merida who was leaning her back against a pillar aiming the launcher down. He blushed when she caught him staring. She smirked at him listening to the sound of the enemy approaching.
They were still taking on the beginning targets. Merida had been in simulation eleven before someone had the bright idea to put her in this group causing her to drop to beginner. It was said that they all had to pass the simulation together to move up.
It had been a month and they were still on simulation one with twelve more to go. They were in last place at this rate they'd be ready for there first mission when the trials were already over. Merida's blood boiled she had been so close to graduating and here she was being held back by the two hopeless.
Jack didn't feel any better as he stood next to a crumbled building. The landscape was made up of clasped and clasping structures. He leaned against the wall he was bored. He'd been in simulation eleven as well, him and Merida had been competing since they were both old enough to train.
There disliking for each other is what caused them to be dropped into the low group. They need to learn how to work in a team. They weren't happy. An instead of working as a team. Jack and Merida had made it a competition to see which one of them could complete the simulation first.
They all knew how to beat it. All they had to do was make it passed the enemy and make it to the control room to shut down there weapons. It was easy for Jack and Merida. Elsa and Hiccup were a different story.
They had been more of the cower and run sort. They'd been shot by those launchers and they were horrid. Plus they were still training. Merida trained Elsa, Jack trained Hiccup, who knew everything down to the math of it just didn't know how to physically do it.
Sometimes they switched or teamed up. Switching was awkward, not only were they teamed with the opposite sex, the two hopless had to deal eith the fact Merida and Jack had two completely different teaching methods.
Jack was the first to take out an enemy. Grabbing the solid white collar of the man he pulled him out of sight of the others. The enemy turned looking at the small boy, who grabbed his arm and twisted it till there was a crack.
Before her could scream Jack frost the mans lips. Then quickly ised his launcher and shot him. The enemy crippled to the ground. Merida on the otherside of the landscape took her launcher aiming it at the closes enemy taking him down.
This caused the enemy to find cover and shoot towards her. Hiccup looked to Elsa, "Were supposed to sneak, around them, " he said.
Elsa nodded in agreement, "Nothing we can do," She then peaked around the wall. The enemy was distracted by Merida and Jack whonwere now taking them out one by one, "Maybe we should go shut down there weapons."
They hadn't ever made it that far before. Usually they either hid or got taken out by and enemy. It was always the other two.
"Quick think Hiccup, whats is the fastest way to the control room?" Elsa wasn't the best at memorizing such things. Hiccup remember everything, he knew the whole landscape been studying it even before the simulations began.
"Uhhh, the tunnels, it is located underneath the landscape," He says, "Do you ever wondered why they choice this landscape you'd imagine that it make mpre since for the enemies control room to be im there headquarters. "
"Headquarters," Elsa repeated, "Of course, the simulation ends when we get to the underground control room to turn off the enemies defiance system right?"
"I don't see where your going with this?" Hiccup tells her.
"What if the reason we never move on to the next simulation isn't because we don't work as a team, but were shutting down the wrong thing!" Elsa explained.
"Not possible Merida and Jack had done this simulation separately and beat it by doing it exactly how they do now, by typing in the stupid code."
"Hiccup what if this is a different test, I mean theres more of us, so it would make since to have a bigger mission," she said this a smile forming almost, "Hiccup, the enemy would keep there control room in or at least near there headquarters."
The boys eyes widen, "Underground headquarters of course! Thats it! The defense system must also include a cloaking device so we can't detect it, well I mean it would if this was a real mission and not a simulation," he said.
"We have to think of it as reality remember!" Elsa smiled, "What do you say? You wanna win this?"
Hiccup hesitated but finally nodded, "The tunnels is right at the crumbled capital building," he said, "Uh, follow me."
He peeked around the corner. The enemy was distracted by Red and Frost. The two hopeless moved quick feeling quite happy with themselves. They didn't feel so hopeless anymore. At least not completely hopeless.
Elsa moved her feet quickly, staying low. Her grip on her launcher was so tight her knuckles turned white. They made there way around the fighting. Merida was the first to spot them and she gave them a look of surprised look.
The then shrugged it off and continued shooting. She and Jack (who had spotted them only a second later had) had the same thought. That the two were not gonna make it to the control room.
The capital building was less than two feet away when the two were caught. Elsa was grabbed a launcher pressed into her lower back. Her breath hitched and her launcher slipped from her gloved hands.
Hiccup froze his launcher raised midair. The enemy all dressed the same. In solid white jumpsuits. They all wore matching helmets with solid black visors. It made them look sort of like a odd biker gang. Where as Hiccup and Elsa along with the rest wore there regular clothes.
The ones they hung out in the pit with. Which was a place located down the hall from the simulation room. The one they were currently in.
"Drop it kid," The enemy said to Hiccup.
Elsa mouthed a 'Don't'. Hiccup ignored her raising the gun up in one hand like he was surrendering. He then slowly began to bend down setting the gun carefully on the ground. As soon as it was laying on its side. He accidently pulled the trigger.
The small electric bullet that was the shape of a sphere fired, striking the enemy in the foot. Lights of electricity shot up the enemies leg. Elsa felt a slight shock, she quickly elbowed him in the gut and he fell away.
Her eyes narrowed at Hiccup as the enemy crippled to the ground, "His launcher could have went off!"
The green eyed boys face inflamed. "I-I...It was a accident I didn't mean to-"
Elsa reached grabbing hers and the enemies launcher. "It doesn't matter," She sighed, "All that matters is it worked.
She quickly went to the crumbled remains of the building. Hiccup followed, they both searcher and found the entrance to the tunnel in less than a minute. Elsa was the first to slip in. The tunnel was lit by a soft dim orange glow.
It glittered of the water that splashed up the girl's leg. The boy followed only his landing less smoothly. He landed on the heels of his feet tumbling backward into the water soaking the back half of him.
He cursed slightly. Elsa reached back helping him up. "Do we go forward?" Even though she asked barely above a whisper, her voice echoed down into the darkness ahead. From where they stood the lights seemed to end not to far up.
Hiccup gulped but replied whispering as low as he possibly could with Elsa still being able to hear. "Yeah, it shouldn't be to far."
Elsa lead jumping at ever splash of water that hit her upper leg. Hiccups launcher shook. It was still a little warm from the previous fire. Above there heads Jack had slammed his staff into and enemy stomach.
The man grunted. Merida pulling the trigger of her launcher hitting the man in the back just below his head right between his shoulder blades. She gave Jack a smirk, which he returned with a middle finger.
They turned away from one another unaware of the two helpless below. Elsa stumbled slightly her hands waving in front of her searching for the wall. The two couldn't see anything. Hiccup had a sudden new fear of the dark.
Elsa found the wall first. It was damp and had a thick coat of grim. Hiccup bumped her causing her to yelp. "Sorry," He whispered. All she did was nodded forgetting he couldn't see her. They continued going forward taking small steps.
"How much farther do you think?" Elsa asked.
Hiccup shrugged, "I'm not sure but I think were close."
Just as the words left his mouth his foot hit something slightly unleveled. Elsa heard the soft ding and smiled wide. "I think were here," She fell to her knees soaking her pant legs. Her fingers found the handle. "Okay ready?"
"Just open the thing!" Hiccup demand flinching as his voice echoed of the walls. Elsa obeyed, carefully lifting the trap door. Light flooded in as lights flickered on making there was downward.
Neither could see what was below but they could only hope it was the control room. They both were still, unsure if they should move. The silences had a buzzing ring to it. Hiccup rocked on his feet letting out a sudden humorless laugh.
"Ladies first," he said.
Elsa narrowed her eyes huffing in defeat. carefully she lowered herself down grabbing the ladder. The metal was cold with a rusty feeling to it. She took each step down carefully. Afraid of falling down who knows how far.
Her foot slipped slightly and her breath hitched ice from her hands spreading on the bars making them harder to grip. "Elsa your freezing the bars I can barley get a grip!" Hiccup scowled.
"Well you should have went first!" Elsa huffed.
"Yeah and risk you falling and causing me to tumble to my dead I don't think so!" He says.Elsa squeezed her eyes shot images of falling to her dead played in her head. This caused the ice to spread even more. Hiccup sighed, "Your not gonna fall Elsa, just keep going."
Elsa continued it seemed like forever before she dropped to the floor below. The room was lit in a dim blue light from the monitors. Hiccup walked over to it sliding into a chair. Elsa hesitated before doing the same.
"What exactly are we looking for?" She asked.
"I'm not sure...a kill switch theirs got to be some type of code that we can type in and take it down," He tells her. He types quick searching for anything that would link to a cloaking system. A blueprint of a large building appeared.
"That's the underground headquarters," Elsa says, "An it must be glowing blue because of the cloaking system."
Hiccup hummed in response bringing up a box that asked for a password. He smiled, "All we need to do is enter the password."
"Do you think its the same one that is always used?" She wondered.
"Its worth a shot," Hiccup shrugged typing in each word, 'Float Catch Bleed Death Stiff-' "It won't let me type in Push."
Elsa frowned, "Maybe were supposed to push something, try enter."
"I did, it doesn't work," He says.
"Well theirs got to be a button somewhere!" Elsa got up looking around the small room. She checked under the metal computer table, and the walls around the computer. Nothing. Hiccup continued trying buttons on the computer.
Quickly she ran her hands acrossed the walls. The surface was smooth, almost felt plastic. She bit her lip hard her fingers stopped as she reached a vent. Slowly she lowered to her knees her fingers lacing with the metal bars.
With all her strength she pulled until it broke free of the wall. Carefully she set it by her glancing into the deep dark went. Reaching in she felt around. Her fingers felt the rush of water first. She jumped back.
Her eyes watched as water poured from the vent. She looked to Hiccup and she saw it. A security camera. Of course they'd be under surveillance. The enemy knew they were here. Well not really there wasn't actually an enemy. It was just a simulation. One they had to pretend to believe.
This would all be real one day. "Hiccup!" she turned to rush toward him and away from the water. Her body was stopped by the a invisible wall. A smug didn't even appear on it. It didn't even fog up when she breathed on it.
Pressing her palms against the wall she pushed. It wasn't going anywhere, neither was she. Panicked slightly she yelled for Hiccups help. However he couldn't hear her. Nor could he hear the water pouring from the open vent.
She felt the water hit the back of her ankles. With as much force as possible she punched the wall. Pain crackled through her knuckles. Hiccup must have noticed something was off. He couldn't hear anything from Elsa.
Slowly he turned surprised to see the water filling up quickly. Elsa was knee deep. Ice floated among the water. She was afraid. Hiccup placed his hands on the barrier. "What happened?" he asked.
She pointed to her ear, "I can't hear you."
Hiccup frowned glad he could read lips. He ran his hand through his hair. Looking around for a moment, he decided to grab the chair. He wasn't very strong but he tried. Raising it up he slammed it against the glass.
Elsa stepped back the water now to her hips. "Find the button!" she yelled. It took the green eyed boy a minute to make out what she said. He nodded showing he understood.
Quickly he stumbled over to the computer. It had to be somewhere. Looked under the desk and everywhere Elsa had already looked. He hoped to spot something she might have missed. Above there heads Merida took a knock in the head by a handle of the launcher.
Crippling to the ground she groaned everything blurring slightly. The man in white stop pointing the launcher at her. Before he could pull the trigger Jack swung his staff. Hitting the man in the back of the head he quickly kicked the back of the mans legs. Watching his enemy cripple Jack went to shoot him.
Merida pulled the trigger first. The strange bullet shot the man in the shoulder. Fragments of the bullet shot hitting Jack in the neck. He groaned before Merida could reacted she was hit in the side. The shock burned into each of them. There enemy had gotten them. Only two more to go.
The water was mid back now. Elsa watched Hiccup desperately search. She tried to clog the vent, but failed. The water had rose above her head she struggled to stay afloat. Her head nearly touched the ceiling, when the first man entered dropping down from the ladder.
Hiccup had yet to notice him. Elsa yelled at him even though he couldn't hear her. Water filled her mouth slightly, she spit. A slight glow caught her eye. Pushing down into the water slightly she looked at the glowing area on the wall. Floating up to get a breath she quickly swam to the wall.
Hiccup had already been shot at. To his luck his enemy missed. Quickly he ran forward slamming into the man. They both went to the wall. Another man came down grabbing ahold of Hiccup and flinging him into the invisible wall.
Pain shot up his spine. Could theses guys be even more into the job? Trying to make there last hope lose? Elsa fingers brushed the glowing surface just as Hiccup was slammed into the computer desk. Surprisingly the computer and monitor was completely unharmed.
Blood poured from his nose. The blue eyed girl pushed the glowing light. It moved forward making a slight clicking noise. In a instant the invisible wall disappear launching the girl across the room with the water. The two men smashed into the wall. Hiccup hit the desk the computer releasing a shock that ran throw the bodies of those in the room. Elsa laid in the water that nearly covered her face as she laid on the floor motionless.
Hiccup sat up right unconscious. The people watching this play out stared at the blinking words, 'Simulation Complete'
Jack Frost (P.O.V)
My hand flew up covering Elsa mouth as I peaked around the corner barley catching a glimpse of the beast before quickly pressing my back against the wall. I moved my hands off Elsa mouth pressing my fingers to my lips signaling to be quiet.
I glanced back to where the beast had been only to find it was gone. Quickly I grabbed Elsa hand and pulled her down the opposite path. Before turning right I pulled Elsa hard trying to make her move faster. My plan was simple. Get the hell outta there. Sounded simple enough whether it was or not I was sure we would find out.
We made only a couple more turns before Elsa tripped tumbling to the ground smaking the hard against the rock. I jerked her up, running until we reached the next turn. Elsa was shaking and the air around seemed to drop in temperature.
"Why are we stopping?!" She squeaked. There was a slight gash above her eyebrow. Slowly, blood down trickled the side of her face.
I shushed her, dropping to my knees and digging though my pack. I unhooked my staff with was tied to the bag. Setting that beside me I need pulled out a large knife. I held it out to Elsa.
"Remind me to show you the mapping room if we return to the Glade," I tell her. I felt stupid for not doing it before her first run. She hadn't been able to pick her own blade, or shoes.
I had gave Rapunzel, Elsa's bag, only putting in a firstade kit, lunch, water, and markers. It was all I thought she'd need. There hadnt been a accident in the maze, in months. Besides for the going in after dark.
"What is this gonna do give that thing a splinterz?!" Elsa cried out, "I can't-"
"You survived a night in the maze, you fought one of the creatures that lived here, and you saved my friends life, don't you dare go weak on me," I hissed at her, "Your the only one who I have right now, and its gonna take both of us being strong to get the hell out of here!"
Elsa took it a deep breath. Using her hand she wiped the blood on her face smearing it. Her eyes closed and she nodded quickly. "Okay, what do I have to do?" She asked me.
"Right now, just look pretty, and don't get us killed," I told her, "We only have a couple hours to try and find the others, and then a couple more to get out of here, I'm sure you don't wanna spend another night here."
Pulling my two short knifes I pocket them before zipping my bag and tossing it to the side. I nodded to her to do the same. Elsa looked at me weird, "What if we need something?"
"The weight will only slow us down, just try not to need anything," With than I got to my feet rocking on my heels.
Getting in running position I looked at Elsa hard. For a moment she looked familiar to me. Not that it was unusual to have that feeling. Everyone looked slightly familiar. I guess it was a side effect from having your memories erased.
It was one of the worst feelings. To not know who your were, who your are, what you supposed to become. Its like trying to know someone you never met. However in this case that someone, is yourself.
Which is why I try and spent more time knowing others. Maybe if I know enough about them, I'll remember them in my past life. It was kind of crazy but it was worth a shot. We had to all be connected somehow. Why else would we be in the same factor.
Divergent. It had to mean something. More than immunity to the sting. Merida proved it didn't mean immunity from all of the creatures in the Maze. We ran quickly turning to each sharing reassuring looks before taking off.
Rocks cracked under our feet as we ran quickly. Elsa fell behind only slightly. We didn't talk or stop. The only sound was our heavy breaths and thumping of our feet. I was worried about Hiro, Rapunzel and Merida.
We have had problems with the maze creatures out in day. It was rare and we were always out as soon as we heard one of them. It had occurred to us that maybe we should try and fight them. We quickly decided it wasn't exactly the best idea.
We lost enough people to the factor wars. Loosing more to fight creatures we didn't have to was stupid. Pressing my lips together we came around the next turn. I slammed into someone. We trampled to the ground.
I groaned and Hiro cursed me. I heard Elsa let out a sigh of relief as she saw the other two. Merida hand her hands on her knees catching her breath. Rapunzel was fixing her ponytail. "We been looking for you," Elsa said, "There's a beast in loose in the maze! We have to get out of here!"
Hiro shook his head after he and I were standing again. "First you have to see this," He reached in his bag pulling out a vial of blue liquid.
"Where that come from?" I demand.
He shrugged, "I'm not sure," he say honestly, "It fell from the sky with this small parachute."
Me and Elsa exchanged looks, "That's weird," Elsa said, "What is it?"
"We were hoping you could tell us," Rapunzel say holding out a small card, "Its meant for you."
The card read in shaky letters, 'Elsa Arendelle, Float Catch Bleed Death Stiff Push'
