HEYYYYYY Y'ALL.

So, as you could clearly see, I'm not okay. I'm freaking excited.

The contest this time is centered around the theme of Shadowhunters from Cassandra Claire's books ; The Mortal Instruments. For those of you who are not familiar with what I'm talking about, here's an explanation.

Shadowhunters (also known as Nephilim) are the appointed warriors on Earth of the Angel Raziel. They are appointed specifically to control and preside over the demons and supernatural creatures that reside in our world. A thousand years ago Raziel bestowed the tools to accomplish this task. These tools are:

-The Mortal Instruments-used so Shadowhunters may know truth, speak with angels, and make more of their kind.

-The country of Idris-where Shadowhunters live away from demons and the mundane world.

-The Book of Raziel (or "Gray Book")-used by Shadowhunters to access the magic of angels to protect and augment themselves.

Raziel gave these gifts to the first Nephilim, Jonathan Shadowhunter-the Shadowhunter namesake.

So there. To further be enlightened about the subject, I'd inserted a video to the side above and my playlist of Shadowhunter songs which would be helpful when y'all are in the process of designing what is asked of you now(well, all those songs except for Carry you. It doesn't really complement the theme) You know, listening to that type of music will give you a little bit of an oomph.

As your Contest number 2, you are to design a book cover.

The theme would obviously be Shadowhunters. No surprise, since I was ranting about it for a good few minutes up there.

Here's the catch though, y'all cannot, under any circumstance imitate the original Shadowhunters, their skills, powers or weapons they use. Hell, they shouldn't represent any of the original Shadowhunters. At all.

Instead, you guys are supposed to create your very own Nephilim/ s and give it a name which you could include in your cover or you could come up with some other name which would suit whatever character/s and your book well.

It could be more than one character, but less than 5. It could be a couple, fighting partners, or in the case of Nephilim; Parabatai, or a circle of friends, whichever you prefer. BUT IT HAS TO BE YOUR OWN.

A parabatai is a pair of Nephilim warriors who fight together as lifelong partners, bound together by oath, regardless of their gender. Their bond is not reflected only in their closeness and willingness to lay down their lives for one another, but also in oath-one sworn in front of the Council.

Gift them skills, their own weapons, powers and attire. Go all crazy, but obviously make them look like warriors alright, not otherwise 😂🔫

Furthermore, y'all should include a subtitle which could be in the form an oath. Shadowhunter's lives are largely governed by these. Or y'all could state it just as a saying or whatever.

State yourself as the author of the book:)

Regular Wattpad cover size would be your cover size. Make your work look extremely badass 😉✊

In addition, when submitting your completed cover on your graphic portfolios, please describe your cover underneath the very cover.

Eg: The people depicted in the picture ; their names. The weapons they're fluent with, the powers they may have and especially, the runes. Runes are these tattoo like marks adorning a Shadowhunters body. Runes, besides their use as a written code, have magical properties. Runes were often used in magical charms for protection and for healing. They were also used to lay a curse. Runes themselves were thought to carry magical power. Different runes symbolise different meanings. So, make your own rune. 😉
