I opened my eyes abruptly to the sound of both my alarm clock, and phone buzzing in unison.

I turned over on my side reaching to turn the alarm off before grabbing my phone.

'Hide..' I thought as a small smile grew on my lips.

-Hide: Hey buddy! If I'm not able to see you before classes today, wanna meet up at the front gate after???-

-Kaneki: Ofc! see you then!-
I responded back, as I began pushing myself out of bed.

In all honesty Hide was the thing that kept me going everyday. He was the only one I had, and no matter what he was always able to make me feel true happiness.

It made me wonder..If he had never came up to me when we were kids- what would've become of me now?..

But maybe that doesn't matter. As long as he's always by my side I don't have to worry about not being happy.

When I finished getting dressed and ready for the day, I made my way to the college me and Hide both attended called 'Kamii'

Remembering back on it-

Hide and I studied non-stop just to get accepted here.

Hide of course had trouble with staying concentrated on studying for hours on end, but I was there to keep him on track, and oddly enough, he's great at memorizing.

When we both found out we were both accepted he practically jumped on me in happiness, either way we both ended on the ground.

I was happy too of course.
Because that meant we'd be together.
Nothing could've made me happier then that.

"H-Hey! Kaneki!" Said a familiar voice from behind me, as I turned.

It was a classmates of mine- and for some reason he was carrying plenty of books in his arm.

"you're going to the l-library, right? Think you could help me o-out?" He asked struggling dearly to keep those books from falling

"Uh, sure." I say before grabbing a bunch from the top.

My arms practically almost hit the ground.

'these are heavier then I thought..' I thought trying to hold them up.

"Why do you have to bring all these to the library?" I asked struggling a bit.

"Well- I got in some trouble with the librarian the other day, and this is punishment." He responds.

"I-I see.." I say as we enter the library.

We placed the books down on the table, before saying goodbye for now.

I was planning to read my book in there a while before heading to class, but those books made the trip there much longer.

Classes were always pretty boring, but I always found literature really interesting so I didn't mind, besides without education there's not a good chance of living a good life.

But today was different. 

I kept zoning out.

I kept thinking about Hide.

I don't understand why..but the same thing just kept going through my head.

'What would've become of me if we had never met?..'

In all honesty it scared me thinking that.

Probably because- I wouldn't even be alive right now..

When classes were finally over for the day it was about 4:00 P.M

I made my way to the front gates to meet Hide.

It was normal for him to take a bit longer to meet here since his class is all the way at the other side of the school.

'It's frida--'

My thoughts were interrupted from the sudden yelling of-

"KANEKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" Before Hide tightly hugged me from behind almost lifting me in the air like nothing.

Either he's way too strong, or I'm way to light.

"Calm down." I say with a giggle as he released me.

"Eheh! Sorry, I was just so happy to see you!" He exclaimed with a bright smile rubbing the back of his head

"But we see each other everyday."  

"Yeah! but that was yesterday during school, It's been like a full 24 hours." He complains as we start heading to his house as usual.

"You're such a kid!" I laugh, as he puffed his cheeks and looks the side.

When we got to his apartment we threw our bags next to the door and made our way to the living room as we settle down.

I sat on the couch as he sat on the floor leaning against it diagonal from me.

"What pizza are you up for today?" He says flashing me a smile

"Anything is fine."

"Cheese it is then." he says taking out his phone, before calling the pizza place- which is on speed dial by the way.

I adjusted my self on the couch to lay down on it vertically.

As he started speaking into the phone I closed my eyes.

It was weird-

The sound of his voice somehow was always able to relax me.

'I remember hearing him sing once..But it was hard to hear properly..' I thought to myself zoning out before i felt something pressing to my cheek 

"Oi, Kaneki, did you fall asleep on me?" Muttered Hide sounding disappointed

"Wha!?" I yelled opening my eyes and jumping up getting out of thought

"Gomen gomen, I'm awake don't worry." I said kinda embarrassed

"Mmmm, you were thinking about something weren't you?"  

"I wasn't." I smile placing my hand to my chin

"Liaaaarrrrrr! Tell me what you were thinking!" He says as a big grin grew on his face

'He reads me too well..'

"It's nothing, I promise!" 

"Kaneki I'll tickle it out of you if i have to!" He smirks 

'I can't tell him! It'll be awkward if he knows i like his voice.' I think as i advert my eyes to the side.

"3-2-1!" He yelled out before starting to tickle me to death.

He pushed me down on the couch so he was on top of me.

"S-Stop!" I cry out between laughs as i squirm around trying to knock him off of me.

"Not until you tell me!" He laughs along as well.

This went on for sometime, until I finally gave in.

"F-Fine I'll tell you!" I say as he stops giving me time to breathe.

I opened my eyes looking up at him.

He was still over me.

Staring at me with a smile.

When suddenly both our smiles faded, as we stared into each others eyes in awe.

His eyes..They gave off a warm feeling.

It made my heart beat faster and faster..

I could feel my face growing warmth.

when suddenly- He began bringing his face closer to mine.

'Is he going to..no..no way..This can't be happening..but..why do I want him too..'

I thought as i slowly closed my eyes waiting for his lips to make contact with mine.

But then- 

*DING DONG* 

both our eyes widened in shock.

Hide quickly got off of me.

"I-I'll be right back!" He yelled trying to act as he normally would.

I let out a sigh, as i placed my hand on my heart.

It was beating so fast..

'W-What just happened?..There's no way..that actually happened..' I thought taking deep breathes sitting up straight on the couch 

'I'll just act like it never happened for now.'

"Oi Kaneki! Can you clear off the table!" He says making his way back to the living room with the large box of pizza, while i did as he requested.

He sat down next to me placing the box down.

"Wanna do the honors?" He asked with a goofy smile

"Of course!" I laugh before opening the box.

"WOAH! It looks so good compared to all the other times!" He says in excitement.

"It does." I agree as i snatch a piece.

We then picked out a movie.

Things carried on as usual.

Hide would be complaining to the characters not to do something or that they're awesome, and mostly how stupid they are.

It always made me smile.

And weird enough I almost forgot about what had happened.

Almost.

I'm not sure why..But- I really wanted to kiss him..

I don't understand why..

Sooner or later it was already 3 In the morning- We were both on the verge of passing out.

"Oi..Kaneki..are you tired?.."

"No..are you?.."

"No..are you sure you're not tired though- you sound like you are."

"You do too."

"So you admit your tired!"

"N-No! I just agreed that you also sound tired!"

"But I'm not! You are!"

"No! You are!"

This was normal- we never wanted to admit defeat to the other over stupid things.
But of course, I'd usual lose to him

"Fine! I am tired! But you are too!"

"Okay, you got me." He says letting out a yawn with a tired smile.

He stood up and pulled out the couch making it a bed, as he threw a blanket over it.

"They're you go you're majesty." He says with a goofy smile.

"oh, shut up." I laugh.

Hide would always offer to let me sleep in his bed, and he'd take the pull out one, but i always denied- that was one fight i was able to win.

"Well goodnight, see yah in the morning." he smiled rubbing his eyes in sleepiness.

But then-

Well God just wasn't on my side today.

The electricity went out.

I'm scared of the dark.

Well scared of being alone in the dark.

I hated it.

"Kaneki are yo-"

"H-Hide..stay.." I murmured trembling

"Understood!" He said brightly as I heard him lay down on the bed next to me.

I lied down too laying next to him as he wrapped his arms around me hugging me tightly against himself.

"Shh, It's okay, I'm here." He whispered softly to me, while he rubbed my back gently making my trembling slowly stop.

-Flashback to something that happened when they were younger-

"Kaneki! We should sleep now." Hide smiled as i nodded rubbed my eyes.

(A/N: Hide lives in the same place as he does in this flashback)

Hide stood and pulled to couch out for me.

"Night Kaneki!" 

"Night!" I smiled as he left the room to go to his own, while I lied down leaving a lamp on, when suddenly the power went out.

My eyes widened in fear..

I have a fear of the dark-
Reason being-

When I found my mothers body, the whole house was pitch black.
Or it felt like it was.
everything was dark and I felt like I was suffocating..
The only thing i could see was her lifeless corpse..
since then whenever i was in a pitch black room, i'd become terrified.

My whole body tensed up.
I couldn't move-

Couldn't breathe.
My eyes were wide open- so why couldn't I see anything?..

"Oi, Kaneki! The electricity went out so I got you a-"

"K-Kaneki?" Hide asked, hearing me trembling while breathing heavily

I felt him climb onto the couch placing his hand on my back before pulling me into his arms.

"Shh..It's okay, I'm here..Don't be afraid.." He whispered gently rubbing my back.

I began to calm down, as i nuzzled my head against his chest.

"S-Stay." I said choking on my tears.

"I will..I won't let go of you until morning." 

We then lied down, as i fell asleep in his arms.

-flashback end-

"I won't let go of you till morning..I promise.." He whispered gently holding me closer, as i began to relax in his arms.

Hide always knew how what to do..

Hide..

I hope it'll always be like this..

I want you to be with me forever.

I love you..
