Chapter 3

Your POV

"(y/n), can you help me get these boxes?" Rowan said, turning around.

The delivery truck arrived a few minutes ago. We were supposed to load this whole thing into the building in half an hour?!

"Okay! Hang on!" I yelled back.

I pulled my hair into a tight ponytail, running over to her.

"Why does our boss want me, you, Michi, and miss won't-work-with-anything need these put all into the storage room in half an hour?"

I shrugged. "Let's just stop talkin about it and, work. I got an idea but, it involves everyone."

"Oh yeah? What is it?"

I smiled, then turned around. "Michi! Kam! Come here!"

Michi and Kam walked over to me, both not into it.

"What is it, (y/n)." Michi asked in a snotty voice.

"Want to play a game?" I smirked, looking at them.

"Sure. What about you, Michi." Kam said, smiling softly.

"Fiiiinne. Only 'cause you say so." Michi said.

I nodded. "So, it's more of a sort through. Each of us will get boxes only in our group. We have Pillows, Blankets, Containers, and Decorations. If you can get all of your boxes before everyone else, you win. BUT! The catch is that the boxes cannot be damaged and we have to do it in... less than 25 minutes."

Kam's eyes lit up. "So, it's a competition?"

I nodded. "Yup."

She smirked, then put her hands on her hip sides.

"Let's do it! Sounds like fun." Kam said.

"It sounds more like work. What prize do we get if we win?" Michi said.

I rolled my eyes. "Not really any prize. Other than having our boss not yell at us."

Michi sighed. "Fair enough."

Rowan jumped down and walked over to us. "On the count of three?"

I nodded. "1......"

"2....."

"3!!!"

Each of us ran to the truck, then started grabbing boxes.

"I win!" Kam and Rowan said at the same time, setting their last boxes in their piles.

I laughed. "Tie."

Michi frowned. "Everyone's a winner, actually. We all finished before the deadline."

"Yeah. She does have a point, Kam." Rowan said, shrugging.

"Oh well. It was fun though! I didn't think working would be so much fun."

"Okay. Well, do you bring shopping carts in from outside, Kam?" I asked, setting my box down.

"Uh, yup!" Kam said, crossing her arms.

"I used to do that. Before I became a cashier. If you think of it as... maybe... a race. Two other people do it so, you could make it a challenge that you would get all the carts before they do. It's pretty fun after you start doing it."

"Only you would think of that, girly. You find EVERYTHING fun."

I rolled my eyes. "Not always. I usua-"

"Hey! You four! We are opening in five minutes! Get ready!" Our boss yelled, making us all jump.

Maybe we'd have an okay day. Hopefully.

"Mom! Mom!" Lillian said, running across the playground to me.

I was walking as fast as I could, counting the fact that I was trying to get through the OTHER parents coming to pick THEIR kids up.

"Hey, girly!" I said.

Lillian jumped onto me, I caught her in the process. She had a small bucket grasped in her hand, with things jiggling inside of it.

"Mom, look at what I made earlier!" She pulled the bucket so I could see inside of it.

It was a few clay model-like animals. They were really well-made too. A bear, a dog, a cat, and a chicken.

"Cool! How'd you learn how to do those so well?"

She giggled. "You! You've taught me art stuff!"

I pulled one of my arms up and ruffled her hair around.

"Ready to go home?"

"Yes! But, Abby wanted me to ask you something."

I set her dowm on the sidewalk and we both started walking.

"What is it?"

"Well, we kinda want to have a sleep over tonight. Because it's Friday and, we've never done that before."

I giggled. "Is it okay with her dad?"

Lillian nodded. "Yup! She just asked me earlier today."

"Alright. Well, are they still here?"

"Yes! Over there!" Lillian pointed over by the jungle jim.

Abby and Jeffory were around it. Abby was playing and Jeffory was mostly laughing.

"Okey-dokey. I'll ask Jeffory about it."

We both started over to where they were.

Abby gasped when she saw Lillian. "Lilly!" A moment later, Abby was down the slide and running towards her.

Lillian and Abby ran into each other in a hug, making both me and Jeffory laugh.

"Afternoon, (y/n)."

"Same to you, Jeffory."

Abby gasped, then looked at me. "Can she?! Can she can she can she?!??!?!"

I giggled. "Yes. She can."

Jeffory looked at me. "So, I guess they just told you today, huh."

I nodded. "Yeah. Like, five minutes ago?"

"Heh. Sorry 'bout the short notice. Abby asked me last night but, I was a bit skeptical that you'd say yes."

"Why wouldn't I? They are best friends now, aren't they?"

Jeffory turned and saw the two of them running around, laughing and screaming, and having fun.

"Yeah. That's pretty amazing."

I leaned my head against Garroth's shoulder, watching everyone. We were playing games with everyone else that showed up, but were both already out. Garroth chuckled, pulling me even closer to him.

"Who do you think will win right now?" Garroth asked, looking at everyone else.

The teams were put together. Aphmau and Aaron, Laurance and Dante, Kawaii~Chan and Katelyn, and Travis with Brendan.

"I think Aph and Aaron. Who else would?" I said back, looking at him.

"Yeah. They have been ahead the whole game. And even seem to know the strategy of how to do it!"

I thought about Abby, Lillian, and Jeffory. It was about a quarter after eight so, whatever they were doing. I missed Lillian, but she was having fun. And I was too. With my friends.

"Ha! Ya owe me two hundred, Katelyn!" Aphmau's voice rang out, laughing at the end.

Katelyn growled playfully.

"Please give us some more time, Aphmau~Senpai!"

"Nope! Pay up!"

"We can't. Darnnit! Kawaii~Chan, why did we spend so much money in the beginning?!"

Kawaii~Chan laughed. "At least it's only a game, Katelyn~Sama."

"But I HATE losing! Especially by Aphmau and Aaron!" Katelyn groaned, pulling her and Kawaii~Chan's stuff off of the board.

"Guys, I'm bored. We've played this game for the past two hours." Laurance yawned, looking at everyone.

"Then what should we play? Other than more board games?" Aphmau asked.

"How about..." Katelyn smirked, looking at everyone in the room.

"How about Truth or Dare?"

"Why?" I asked, looking at her confused.

"What? We all are adults. And, it's just for fun." Katelyn said.

Travis and Brendan were all for it. Kawaii~Chan was okay, Aphmau and Aaron were skeptical, but were alright with doing it also. The only people not sure with it was me and Garroth.

"You want to, (y/n)?" Garroth asked, looking at me.

I sighed. "Sure. Why not?"
