Chapter 25: Doctor Visit
Chapter 25: Doctor Visit
Two Months Later
"Honey, you need a coat on. It's cold outside." My head turned as I looked at my husband, looking at him holding onto Lillian's coat. I giggled softly.
"But it's not that cold!" Lillian whined, going up to him, "I don't wanna wear it."
"Well, I don't want you to get frostbite." He said.
Her eyes looked at him with curiousity, "Frostbite? What's that?"
Garroth looked at her before he smirked lightly, "Well," He started to help her get her coat on, her back facing him, "It's when Jack Frost comes up behind you and..."
Lillian turned her head to look at him. She shrieked in surprise when he quickly grabbed her and spun her around, "he buries you in snow!" She squealed as he kissed her cheek lightly before plopping her down on the couch. Her eyes looked up at him. She was quiet for a moment before she gently lifted her arms up at him. "I don't wanna go outside." She said quietly.
Garroth gently chuckled, "Oh? Or do you want someone to carry you to the car?"
I walked over, slipping my coat on, my purse over my shoulder. Lillian looked up at him, holding her arms up, "I want daddy to carry me." She said.
He smiled gently, "What the magic word, princess?"
Lillian giggled, "Please, daddy?" She asked, holding her arms up still. She smiled as he put his hands under her arms, pulling her up before holding her. She isn't that big, only being half his height at three feet, she held on and her eyes closed. He gently smiled, pulling her hood up and walking over to me.
I gently chuckled, "So we're going to the doctor, then the store, and then coming back before going out for dinner with your parents?"
Garroth nodded, "Yeah. When is the appointment again?"
I rose a brow, "In an hour. But it's gonna take a half hour to get there in good conditions. So, we have to leave now." I said softly.
He chuckled, "Just testing you, (y/n)." I rolled my eyes, smiling.
"Maybe you need to get your head examined." I giggled, "Come on. I'm driving."
He smiled before we both headed out the door, him holding Lillian, I shut the door before locking it, us both heading out to the car. He set her down in her carseat in the backseat, Lillian still asleep. I laughed softly, starting the car.
Garroth sat in the passenger seat, buckling himself in. As I backed out of the driveway, the car went quiet. I bit my lip. My head faced forward as I focused on driving, making quick glances over my shoulder, at the speedometer, and into the mirrors to watch my surroundings, watching ahead again each time. I was quiet before my nerves were getting higher, nervous about going to the doctor again. I didn't want to, it nerve racking to think that something may be wrong, something can go wrong at any moment, or maybe I was not able to get enough nutrients to prevent spinal fibia. I don't want our baby to be with a medical condition because of my mistakes.
Something touched my thigh. My leg tensed for a moment before I looked down. It was a hand. I lightly smiled to myself, looking back forward. I shouldn't over react. Garroth always notices when I do.
"Everything alright, baby?" Garroth asked softly. His voice was slightly low, not wanting to wake Lillian up in the back, but not so low that I could not understand his words. I softly nodded after a moment.
"I'm alright... Just overthinking things." I said softly, looking at the road ahead. It had been snowing overnight, I trying to be careful on not slipping on the snowy road.
Garroth gently smiled, "Everything's okay. Don't worry about any of it." He said softly.
I nodded quietly, "Well, hard to not worry when it is your choices that will determine how they will physically be." I said softly.
He gently bit his lip, "(y/n), it'll be okay. Worrying about it won't help anything at all. Besides, they'll be our little babies. We'll love them however way they up to look or be. Right?"
I softly looked at him before weakly smiling, "You're right. I'm sorry I'm freaking out."
Garroth gently chuckled, "Don't say sorry, alright? At least not over this."
I smiled again, nodding lightly, "Alright."
It went quiet again before we stopped at a red light, it being about twenty minutes since we left home. My head fought with being dizzy again, my vision blurring for a moment. I bit my lip, "Garroth, I think we need to switch."
"Are you okay, (y/n)?" he said softly, nodding gently. At the next parking lot, just after the stop light, I parked so that we could switch. My head hurt, it hard to stand up to get out. Garroth bit his lip, "(y/n), I'll help you up." He said softly.
I weakly nodded back, him putting one arm around my waist, hoisting me up to stand up and walk carefully to the passenger side door. I yelped, my foot slipping on the ice. "Whoa, hey. I've got you. I've got you." Garroth said calmly, holding me up still, not letting us fall. I was helped into my seat, him gently kissing my forehead, shutting the door before he went to the driver side door. I bit my lip lightly, closing my eyes, my seatbelt clicked in place.
"I need to stop worrying so much... It's making everything go crazy." I quietly said, biting my lip.
"Hey, it's alright. Maybe you just need a drink." He said softly, gently looking at me before he started driving. Eventually being on the road and used to the conditions, he gently grabbed my hand with his right, "If it's from worrying, I'm right here." I lightly looked at him, "I'll help you through it all." He said softly.
I gently smiled before nodding, "Alright."
We eventually got there, my head calming down and my nerves not freaking out anymore. I lightly sighed before Garroth got out. He walked over and opened my door. He smiled, "Madam." He offered a hand, making me smile as he helped me out. He got Lillian out, her still asleep. I kind of felt bad, her awake most of the night because of nightmares. And I having to throw up repeatedly did not help let her sleep. Lillian whined at first before she snuggled into his shoulder, going back to sleep again.
We walked into the doctor's office, I check in as Garroth and Lillian sat down in a seat. I walked over to them, looking down at my stomach before looking at Lillian. She left peacefully, her face facing me on her daddy's opposite shoulder. I sighed contently, Garroth looking at me with a chuckle. I lightly smiled, leaning my head on his shoulder.
"My girls." He quietly said, kissing my forehead. I giggled quietly, looking up at him, "I love you."
Garroth smiled gently, "I love you too, babygirl." He said softly.
I sighed softly before the doctor called us in. I bit my lip, lightly looking up before we all went in. We had to get our blood tested. This was for making sure we didn't have any disease and so that if I and Garroth have different blood types that won't do well together, then we can make sure the twins are going to get hurt by my immune system killing them.
The doctor did both of our body weights, temperatures, blood pressure, everything they needed for a check-up. I bit my lip, leaning back on a waiting chair. Lillian woke up, her looking around. She whimpered, "Wh-Mommy?" She moved her head around before seeing me, "Daddy?" It took her a moment to realize that her dad was right in front of her. He gently looked at her before she started tearing up.
"Hey... hey... Lillian, what's wrong, honey?" Garroth said softly, holding her in a hug. I lightly tilted my head, looking at her.
"Y-You a-and Mommy were g-g-gone a-and the b-bab-by was cr-crying and I didn't kn-know what to do a-and then I-I was a-alone and no one c-c-could he-lp and there was fire and it was dark and it was scary." She whimpered.
Garroth gently smiled at her, "Hey, sweetie... We're right here. It's okay... it's okay. You're safe." He soothed. I gently looked at her, gently smiling. Garroth gave her to me, I holding her like a baby in my lap. Her head rested on my bosom, her looking up at me. I gently smiled.
"We're right here, baby girl. We always will." I said gently, lightly kissing her forehead. She whimpered as she held onto me. I closed my eyes, holding her close.
Her cheeks moved up in a smile, "I love you Mommy."
I gently smiled, kissing her head, "I love you too, Lillian."
I sighed softly before the doctor called us in. I went first, Garroth holding Lillian as they took my blood. I looked away, not wanting to watch. It still hurt, but it was better to not look at it. I sighed softly, leaning my head back lightly. I tried to relax, my muscles tensing where they were extracting blood. I sighed quietly. It'll be okay. Everyone will be okay. I just know it. Everything will be okay too.
Garroth promised he would be there.
