Chapter 22: Lillian's Day
Chapter 22: Surprised? Pt. 1
(y/n)
I sighed quietly, picking up a few things, putting them up and out of reach of tiny hands, "Garroth, where did you put it?" I asked, out of all the things, I couldn't find the one thing I was looking for.
"Where she wouldn't find it." He answered, still in the other room.
"And where would that be!" I asked again, frowning.
His head leaned back in the kitchen doorway, "Under her dresser."
I stopped for a moment, looking at him, "Are you serious!?"
He nodded slowly, "Uh... yeah? It's an obvious spot so she wouldn't look there."
I sighed, "How do you know?"
Garroth chuckled, "Remember at Easter we hid one by her basket? And she didn't find it until just before she went to bed?"
I looked in front of me for a moment, remembering that, "Oh yeah."
He smiled, "Anyway, Christy an' Aaron are going to come over and finish getting ready while we're out."
"Out? Out doing what?" I asked, walking over to the kitchen.
"Uh... doctor's office?" He questioned, raising a brow.
"Why are we going to the doctor again?"
A soft smile spread on his face as he shook his head softly, "Oh ye of forgetfulness." He smiled, wiping his hands off and walking over to me, "What are we telling everyone today?"
"Um... it's Lillian's 7th birthday?" I questioned, crossing my arms across my chest.
"Other than that." He smiled.
"I don't know? Just tell me!" I frowned.
He laughed softly, "The 2-month check?" Garroth said.
I looked at him before realization hit me, "Right... oops."
His smile grew before kissing my forehead, "At least ya have me, huh."
"No kidding, dip stick."
Knock knock
"Who's there?" Garroth shouted.
There was no answer other than a baby coo.
I giggled, "There's no hiding, CC. We know you're there."
"DANGGIT!" Christy's voice said as Garroth walked over to the door.
Aaron's snickers were heard as the door opened, revealing the three. I couldn't help but smile, "You guys are ridiculous."
"Yeah, yeah. We were trying to be sneaky but, I kind of forgot Katie's pacifier." Christy sighed.
I smiled, "Know that feeling."
Christy smiled, "In any case, what are you two doing that we need to finish setting up for ya?"
"We're getting Lillian's present." Garroth smiled.
I nodded when Aaron rose a brow at us.
Christy looked at me, "You guys didn't get her present yet?"
I giggled, "No, we got it. It's just at Christine's dorm."
She slowly nodded, "Okay? Well, we're happy to help." She looked at her brother, "Anything specific you need one of us to do?"
Garroth chuckled, "Well, if one of you could make the cake batter and stuff, that should be it other than getting some of the decorations up."
Aaron nodded, "Alright."
I smiled before getting my purse from beside the door and looking back at them. Christy held the baby carrier. She lightly looked at me, her looking suspicious. She walked over to me, "You two aren't really getting her present. Are you."
I chuckled, "We are. Really."
She sighed, "Alright." She looked at me, her brow rising, "You look different."
"Why would you say that?"
"You just do..."
I softly nodded, "Well, I feel different. Is different okay?"
Christy laughed softly, "Yeah."
Kathryn yawned before sneezing. She started crying, one of her eyes slightly open, the other one having a clearish gunk gluing it shut.
Her mom set the car seat down and took her out, wiping off her eye, Katie crying even harder.
I couldn't help but feel bad for Katie, her having no way to get it off herself and her being completely helpless in the situation.
After a few more minutes, Garroth and I had to leave. I looked at Christy, "We should be back in an hour or so. Zianna and Garte have Lillian currently so, they'll be coming over with her in a half hour. I'm so sorry we won't be back soon enough."
Christy chuckled, "It's okay. We'll be alright. Don't worry."
I smiled, "Alright. Bye!"
Christina/Christy
"Bye, (y/n)! Bye Garroth!" I smiled as they left before turning to Aaron, "They're hiding something."
"How do you say that?" Aaron walked over to me, tilting his head.
"She looks different. And, I just have this weird feeling they're hiding things..." I said, holding Kathryn gently.
He chuckled, "Well, if they are saying a present for Lillian... could they mean something that... isn't normally a present?"
My lips curled into a grin, "That... would be so cute."
He nodded before smirking, "How much do you want to bet on that."
I exaggerated my thinking, leaning on one side before leaning on my other, looking at the wall behind him before I smiled, "If I win, you have to stay up with Kathryn tonight while I get to sleep for once."
"And if I win, you don't bother me tonight while I'm sleeping." He chuckled.
I nodded, "Deal. I would shake your hand but, I have the baby."
Aaron laughed lightly, "Then seal the deal with this." He kissed me quickly, me reacting to it by kissing back, him pulling away after I did so. I giggled, "Alright."
He smiled, "Well, we should start doing things... shouldn't we."
"Yeah... I'll do decorations after I feed this lil dork." I looked at Kathryn, lightly tickling her stomach.
Kathryn looked up at me, kicking her feet lightly. She cooed. I sighed, "I wish I could understand her. See if she liked this or not."
Aaron nodded softly, "One day you'll figure it out." He smiled.
I giggled, "Yeah..." I softly walked over to the couch, setting her down and grabbing the baby bag. Kathryn started fussing. I giggled, "You already ate from both sides, honey. You have to have a bottle."
Aaron chuckled, "She understands that."
"No kidding, dipstick." I replied.
He smiled before disappearing into the kitchen. It was a few more minutes before I got the formula into the bottle we had. Kathryn was still fussing as I picked her up, cradling her on my left side, feeding her the bottle.
It was a while, Aaron making the cake and Kathryn soon falling asleep. I set the bottle down, resting her head on my shoulder and held her lightly before starting on putting things up around the main rooms. I smiled lightly.
"You know, Kathryn? Soon me and your daddy are going to be doing this for you." I said softly, "And you'll have a fun time too..."
Kathryn's cheeks perked up in a smile. I didn't know if it was her dream or just my voice, but, it was adorable anyway.
There was a knock on the door. I set the stuff down before walking over, lightly opening the door.
"Hi Aunt Christy!"
I looked at Lillian and smiled, "Hey sweet cheeks."
Mom and Dad stood in the doorway with her. I moved out of the way for the three to come inside, "Hi Mom, Hi Dad." I said softly, looking at them."
Zianna giggled, "Hey, honey! Where's Gar-Gar and (y/n)?" She asked.
"They apparently needed to run an errand so, we're finishing things up for them." I said, smiling at her.
She smiled, "Alright! Is there anything you need help with then?"
Garte was following Lillian upstairs to her room, Lillian holding onto his hand. Zianna giggled, "Lily pad has been bringing Garte around everywhere. It's so cute." She smiled before looking at me, "Almost like you did when you were little!"
I giggled softly, lightly rubbing the back of my neck, "Yeah... I remember those days."
She giggled, "Can I hold Katie?"
I nodded, "Sure!" I softly stepped closer to Mom, us transferring Kathryn to her, "Be careful though... she's taking a nap and... she hasn't burped yet"
Mom chuckled, "Okay."
"Mom, it's been about 6 years since you've held a baby. Please don't spook her." I said, a little nervous suddenly.
Zianna softly looked at me and smiled, "Is my baby having a lil' baby withdrawal?"
"U-Um..." I sighed, "Yes...."
She giggled, "Don't worry, baby. I'll be careful." She looked softly at Kathryn, "I know I have to be even more careful with her since she's undersized. I will be. Don't worry."
I gently smiled, "Okay."
She lightly kissed my forehead, "I still remember you being a little baby." She sighed, "You were so adorable."
"Are you saying I'm not adorable now?" I joked.
She giggled, "No, but babies are super cute and cuddly and adorable. And all they want are cuddles!" She said, not super loud, but just loud enough to sound excited. I wasn't worried of Kathryn waking up, since she was used to loud noises already. It's interesting.
I sighed softly as Mom took her and I finished decorating.
It was about another twenty minutes with people coming, Lillian greeting all of them, and a few of them having a bag by their side for her. She went up to me after she searched around the house, "Where's Momma and Daddy?"
I looked at her softly, crouching down to her level. Her (e/c) eyes were gentle, but it was obvious she was distressed. I smiled sympathetically to her, "They're going to be back in a bit. They had to go grab stuff from your Aunt Christi's house."
She giggled, "That's your name too."
"It is, isn't it." I smiled. "Though, she spells it with an I instead of a Y."
Lillian nodded, "Mhm!" She giggled. She looked at Mom, Kathryn starting to wake up from her nap, her looking to the side, the two seeming to see one another. Lillian waved lightly.
The door silently opened. It was the side door, but, it was out of sight for both me and Lillian. I turned my head slowly, looking at it when I saw (y/n) put a finger over her mouth. Garroth was behind her, him doing the same.
I slowly nodded, looking away at Lillian. Lillian walked over to Mom and Kathryn, Mom looking at her and smiling.
I looked back to (y/n). She motioned for me to come over before she backed up. I grew curious as to what was going on. She and Garroth moved to the side as I did come back there.
"Boo!" A whisper-shout came from behind me as someone ELSE was there. I hollered in surprise, my body tensing upwards.
(y/n) smiled as I noticed the person behind me. I drew in a breath, looking at the person, "You are such a jackass, Christine!" I whispered, throwing my hands up in the air.
She giggled, "I know."
My hands rolled into two fists as I rose them up, drawing a deep breath in and letting it out, changing my mind about hitting her. Christine smiled at me, "So~ Christy, how's Lillian been doing? Has she noticed her parents aren't there?"
"Yeah... she did a few minutes ago. That's what she had asked me." I looked at (y/n) and Garroth, "I thought you said you had a present for Lillian at her dorm." I motioned to Christine behind me.
"It's back here. We picked her up and brought the stuff as well." (y/n) smiled. Garroth nodded in agreement, "It's something she saw in the store a few weeks ago so... we thought she would like it."
I softly nodded, "Neat."
They smiled again, "Well, we're going to come in through the front so Lillian knows we're here...I just wanted to tell you first since, you were really suspicious earlier." Garroth said.
"Darnnit. I thought I hid it." I pouted.
Garroth chuckled softly, "Can't pull the wool over your big brother, sis."
I smiled, "One of these days I will."
Christine giggled. She was already around the corner.
"Well, see ya in a minute then." I quickly went inside and shut the door quietly, walking back to the others.
I looked towards the other people, quiet as I went to look for mom and Katie.
The door opened. Lillian's face turned from around the corner before she gasped, "Momma! Daddy!" She excitedly said, running through the dozen or so people towards the door.
"Lillian!"
To be continued.
Yeah. Horrible cliffhanger for the long time it has been since I have posted.
