Chapter 1-Welcome To The City

Your POV

"Mom! Look! There's a Ferris Wheel and a roller coaster, and more games and games and GAMES!" Lillian said, almost about to burst from excitement.

She was 5. Lillian ran in front of me, spinning around slowly to look at EVERYTHING. I laughed.

"Sweetie, hang on. We'll have to wait for the others. Come over here, please." I laughed, walking back over to a park bench.

Lillian nodded and came over to me, jumping onto the bench.

"I can't wait for Aunt Aphmau and Aunt Katelyn and Garroth and Laurance to get here!"

I laughed.

She had lived in the City her whole life. I came here almost a year before her.

Aphmau and Katelyn weren't her Aunts, but she called them that anyway. They didn't seem to mind, only because almost all the other kids did too.

Lillian was being hyper, softly bouncing as she sat in her seat.

"Lilly, calm down, little girly. They'll be here in a few minutes."

"But everything looks so cool! I can't sit still and wait! I wanna go play!" Lillian stated, grabbing the bench and trying to stop.

I rolled my eyes and picked her up, setting her on my lap. She actually stopped moving around.

"Or was it you wanted me to have you sit on my lap." I whispered into her ear, making her giggle.

"Sorta." She said, back, leaning her head against my chest.

"Mom, I'm not tired, I'm bored." Lilly said before I opened my mouth.

"How can you be bored?"

"We are sitting here and wai-*gasp* LOOK!" Lillian said, popping her head up.

She pointed over to the entrance, a smile across her face.

Sure enough, the others were here.

She got off of me and onto the ground, running over to them.

I giggled, watching her run into Garroth. He stumbled back in surprise as she hugged him.

Two seconds later, Aphmau was laughing. I stood up, walking over to them.

**********************************

I laughed, watching some others on a ride.

Garroth, Laurance, and Katelyn's friend Jeffory were riding a ride before us girls.

I found it hilarious that they were the only ones laughing while everyone else on the ride was screaming. Lilly was with Katelyn and little Abby by a game booth.

The guys's ride came to a stop, making me realize it was our turn.

"You guys go. I'm not so fond of rides like that so, I'll stay with the girls." Katelyn said, smiling at us.

It looked fun, but it didn't help a BIT that I was partially afraid of heights.

"I-I don't think I want to either."

Aphmau looked at me, holding onto one of the my hands.

"Come on. It'll be fun. Please?"

I sighed softly, looking back at the ride.

Aphmau frowned, then ran over to a group of people. I watched her curiously.

She walked back, Garroth behind her.

"Garroth will go with us if that makes ya feel better."

I looked at the ground. I didn't want to miss out on the fun. I nodded.

"Okay. I'll go."

Aphmau smiled. Garroth grabbed my hand, making me feel half relieved.

"It's fun. Really!" Garroth said, as the three of us got into a seat.

Aphmau pulled the lever in front of us down onto our laps.

I looked back, Lillian smiled at me, giggling.

Katelyn made a face at me, making me laugh softly.

A jolt made me realize the ride started. I looked back at the front, then reheld onto Garroth's hand.

"It'll be fine." Garroth whispered, looking at me.

I nodded.

The ride got to the top, then stopped.

Great. I hate this part.

A moment later, we plunged down the slope.

A partial scream escaped from me, my eyes widened as we got closer to the bottom. The ride continued, after a few more times of me screaming, I started to laugh.

I looked at Aphmau and Garroth. Both were laughing, and Aphmau screamed at times.

I have to admit, it was fun.

******************************

Aphmau, Garroth, and I walked back over to the others. Abby and Lillian were still playing a game. Jeffory was with Abby and Katelyn was with Lilly.

Lillian looked at me, her face beaming. "Look! Me and Abby both won things!"

Abby turned around with a stuffed white bunny and Lillian picked up a stuffed husky.

"That's cool! How did you win?"

"We could knock bottles over by throwing tennis balls. We can throw balls at something into a tent without getting in trouble!" Lillian said, Abby nodding along.

I laughed. "Good job, girlies."

*****************************

Lillian slept on my shoulder. Two hours of being pumped up and ready to play wore her out. Too bad she didn't have enough energy for watching the fireworks.

"Want me to carry her for you, (y/n)?" Garroth chuckled, wrapping his arm around me.

"Nah, it's alright. I've got her." I asnwered, continuing to walk forwards.

Garroth nodded. "Think she'll wake up during the fireworks?"

I shook my head. "She slept through the thunderstorm a few days ago. She asked me the next morning why it was so wet outside."

"Really. Maybe she gets that from her mom?"

I laughed softly.

"I'm not that way, dude."

"Hey guys! This looks like the perfect place!" Aphmau said, standing on top of a hill.

Barely anyone was there. Our group went to the top.

"It looks like a good place." Katelyn said, looking at where the fireworks were going to be shot off at.

A/N-I am sorta basing this partially off of a big celebration in my home town. Usually, there is a fireworks display beginning it and ending it that can be seen almost throughout town from downtown. ;)

I nodded. "Let's stay here, then."

Everyone sat broken into groups, talking with each other.

Katelyn talked with Jeffory, Lillian woke up and played with Abby, Laurance started talking to Aphmau, and Garroth and I sat waiting for the fireworks.

I didn't know anything to talk about.

"Hey, (y/n). Remember the first time we did this?"

Garroth looked at me, making me roll my eyes.

"How could I forget? It was like. The first two days of me coming here."

"Exactly.... 6 years ago."

"FIREWORK SHOW FOR THE BEGINNING OF RIVERFEST IN FIVE MINUTES." The announcer boomed, making me laugh softly.

Garroth wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

"What is it, Casanova." I said, not flinching.

"Oh, nothing." Garroth smirked.

I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah. Right. And I shouldn't fall for this."

"Hey, hey. I'm kidding." Garroth said.

"Momma, the fireworks are starting!" Lillian shout-squealed, jumping onto me.

I fell backwards, laughing.

"Then let's watch!"

All of us sat looking at the sky, watching the fireworks explode above us.
