"Ask the Authoress" Answers! (Part Two)
Okay, so thank you to Liz_Danly for getting right on it and asking tons of questions, so I have to post the answers chapter now. Thank you also to you others who asked questions, and for your patience as I answered them.
Liz_Danly and utterlybutterly both wanted to know: "What I want to know is where you get your inspiration, either to write something new or just to get out of writer's block."
Well, I get my inspiration from many things. Sometimes it comes from just watching TV or reading other books. Sometimes it comes from the Internet (Pinterest is the place to go if you need inspiration). And then sometimes it comes from the most random of thoughts or even dreams that I have. Last night, I had a dream that inspired me, so I wrote about it. So long story short, I get inspired by almost everything around me, and at the most random of times.
DIESELCOSTA asked: "What is your favorite genre of books?"
Sci-fi/fantasy the whole way. Give me a book with space battles or dragons and sword fights, and I'll be happy. My current favorite book, as hard as it is to choose, is Reapers, by Bryan Davis. If you haven't read it, I would highly recommend it and any of his other books. He's a fantastic author, and I have adored his books since I was ten.
AbigailRose345 asked: "What is your favorite video game other than Skyrim?"
I go through phases when it comes to favorite video games. Some days I'll want nothing more than to play Halo nonstop, and then others I'll sit around and parkour the heck out of Assassin's Creed. So I can't pick a favorite video game, because my favorite game greatly depends on my mood.
And the last load of questions come from none other than the lovely Liz_Danly.
First up: "What inspired you to make Femke half-elf?"
Mainly, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone. Before creating Femke, all of my original characters were Nord. I hadn't even tried to use another race for my characters. So I made Femke a hybrid to make transitioning from using only Nord characters to other races easier on myself. Plus, I thought it would add a cool element to her character.
"Vilkas or Brynjolf?"
That's a tough question, because I love them both for different reasons. I love Brynjolf for his charm, charisma, easygoing nature, and of course, that sexy accent. I love Vilkas for his dedication, warrior spirit, integrity, and his kindness. They're both great for separate reasons, but I think it comes down to who I would trust more. And even though I love Bryn, I would most definitely trust Vilkas more.
"Femke or Ylva?"
You're asking me to choose between my children, basically. Like it is with Brynjolf and Vilkas, I love Femke and Ylva for different reasons. Femke is fun to write because of her sassy and "I don't give a crap" attitude. She's the kind of woman who does what she wants and doesn't care about consequences. On the other hand, Ylva is also fun to write because, even after all the bad she's seen in her life, she still has a pure heart. She still wants to do the right thing, even if it's not the easy thing. I think that, as hard as it is to make this choice, I would pick Ylva, because she was the character that started it all. Without her, I wouldn't have created Femke, or Toril, or any of the other characters I have today.
"What inspired you to write Walk in the Shadows?"
I had wanted to write a Thieves Guild fanfiction ever since joining Wattpad. In fact, Honor and Glory almost wasn't Honor and Glory. I had originally intended to make Ylva a thief and make the Thieves Guild be her home faction. I changed my mind when I realized how many Thieves Guild fanfictions already existed, and the idea was put on hold. After I gained some skills and thought about the story more, I decided to go ahead and write a Thieves Guild story, regardless of it being one story out of a thousand. I am so glad I did, too, because I had so much fun writing it.
"What made you want to write Skyrim fanfiction in the first place?"
After reading AudaciousAuthoress's amazing Skyrim stories, I knew I wanted to write something like that. Her stories were so well-written and paid such beautiful homage to the game itself, I was inspired to try my hand at it. Even though I don't know if I measure up to her skills, I still love writing Skyrim stories, and am so glad I decided to write Honor and Glory.
"What color is your SPARTAN in Halo: Reach?"
Currently, black and dark blue. Sometimes I'll change her accent color from blue to gold, just to mix things up.
"What's your favorite type of cookie?"
My mother's homemade ginger snaps.
"What's your favorite GMM episode?"
I don't have a favorite, but I love almost every episode from seasons 8-9.
"Tea or coffee?"
Coffee. Without a doubt.
"Favorite superhero?"
Colossus from the X-Men franchise. It was Wolverine for awhile, but the more I learned about Colossus, the more I loved him.
Hope you all enjoyed this Q and A! I hope to do it again sometime! Until then, love and sweetrolls!
~WG 💙
