After sitting with Vilkas and Ylva for four hours, helping them calm their children back to sleep, they relieved me of my duties and let me go searching for Tyra. We had all found it odd that she never showed up. She should have been back long before now. How long did it take to see a healer, anyway?
I didn't have to search very long; I found her as soon as I stepped into our room. She was curled up on our bed, hand braced under her head and a book splayed open in front of her. Her wheat-blonde hair lay in a halo around her head, shimmering like molten gold.
Shaking my head gently, I sat down next to her and picked up the book. "Wake up, little Nord," I said softly, closing the book and laying a hand on her shoulder.
She stirred, blinking her eyes. She stretched a little, then sat up, rubbing the heel of her hand against her eye. "I'm awake." Her voice was groggy, as though she had been sleeping for several hours. "I was just resting my eyes."
Chuckling, I shook my head and pressed my hand to her cheek. "What did Danica say?"
Her back went rigid, eyes widening and shoulders trembling. I thought I saw tears welling in her eyes.
Worry seized my heart. I framed her face in both my hands, stroking my thumbs over her cheekbones. "Tyra, what's wrong? What's happened? Is everything all right?"
Her mouth opened, but no words came out. She just sat there, tears running down her cheeks and against my hands.
"What's wrong? Love, talk to me."
Instead of giving me an answer, she closed her mouth and fell into my open arms. She buried her face in my shoulder and wrapped her arms around me. Her shoulders still quaked, and her tears began to soak into my tunic.
I kissed her temple and held her in my arms. "Tyra, I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong. You're starting to scare me."
"If I tell you, you'll hate me."
I almost sighed in relief. At least she answered me. "I could never hate you. That's impossible." I ran my fingers through her hair, shushing her gently. "Tell me what's wrong."
"That's the thing. Nothing's wrong. Not really."
"Then why are you crying?"
She didn't answer right away, instead giving a loud sniffle. "Farkas... I'm pregnant."
I swear that my heart stopped beating. Eyes wide, I pulled away from Tyra's embrace and grabbed her arms. "What did you say?"
She sniffled again, although not nearly as loud as the first time. She wiped her face dry and gave me a weak sort of smile. "We're going to have a baby, Farkas."
By the gods, could that be true? "A baby, Tyra?"
She nodded. "I'm sorry."
My brow creased in confusion. "About what?"
"It's just that... you and I both agreed not to have a baby so soon. We didn't want to have children for at least six months."
"But we're having a baby, Tyra. I don't care if we didn't want one so soon." I framed her face in my hands again, leaning forward to rest my forehead against hers. "This is great news."
"You're not at all scared?"
I chuckled. "Oh, I'm terrified. But my happiness far outweighs my fear." I kissed her on the lips. "I love you, Tyra."
"I love you, too, Farkas." She returned my kiss with one of her own. "Are you sure you're ready to be a father?"
"Please. With the way Embla and Jergen have been? You and I are going to be baby experts by the time our own arrives."

It really does a person good to write fluff. I don't know about the rest of my fellow writers, but writing fluff like this recharges and refreshes me. It restores my confidence in my writing (which I need quite often).
I have a lot of requests still, but like the crazy person I am, I'm always willing to take more. Don't hesitate to ask if you have a story request!
Until next adventure! Love and sweetrolls!
