The Story Behind Jingles + Disneyland Stuff!

Hello everybody! I hope you're all having a lovely day so far. I'm having a particularly lovely day because I'm reflecting on everything I did yesterday at Disneyland and I thought, to further enhance my day, I'd like to share my experiences with you! I'd also like to pay special attention to one special experience that I was able to do at Disneyland, but I'll get into that later. Let's dive right in to the magic!

1 ~ Meeting Moana

Moana, the newest Disney princess, was just recently added to the Disneyland family. You can usually find her in Adventureland near Tarzan's Treehouse. However, the first time I saw her, her meet-and-greet line was closed off and I didn't get a chance to meet her that day. However, when I was walking around Adventureland yesterday, I saw Moana walking up to her usual spot, starting a meet-and-greet! As quickly as I could (because there's a no running rule at Disney) I speed-walked up to her spot and ended up being the first one to meet her!

She was super nice and we talked for a little bit before she pointed to my pins and referred to them as "Shiny things." I told them that Tamatoa always wanted them and she said, "Yes, never pin-trade with Tamatoa! Or, if you do, make sure that you take something of his too." We were talking about Tamatoa, mostly, before I mentioned how nice it was to meet her. She replied, "Yeah, well, Maui loves himself, so me being out here is nice representation." She was honestly so funny and I had such a good time talking to her and taking photos with her. When I left, I told her to say hi to Hei-Hei and Pua for me and she said she will, so I hope they got my message! >w<

2 ~ Getting Stuck On Indiana Jones

Okay, this might sound like a negative thing, but to be honest, getting stuck on this ride can sometimes be a fun chance to spot something new! Or, just sit there looking at Indiana Jones for a long time. Yesterday, Indiana Jones was opening and shutting down from moment to moment due to technical difficulties and all. We had gotten a FastPass, but when our time came to use it, the ride had shut down again. However, Disney being wonderful, when the ride was back up, our time had passed, but they still honored everybody's FastPass.

So, we went on the ride, and the whole thing was working fine. We got to the end, and were just about to reach where the car stopped and we could get off, when we were stopped and the whole car began shaking like a massage chair as we looked at the final scene of Indiana Jones saying, "Next time, you're on your own!" Everybody in the car was laughing as we were there for a good 5 minutes before moving on to the loading dock. It was so funny, and we got a little massage along with our ride.

3 ~ Meeting Sir Samuel

Disneyland has a number of shows to see, but my favorite shows are the ones at the Fantasyland Theatre - namely, the Tangled and Beauty and the Beast shows. These shows are hosted by Mr. Smithe and Mr. Jones and, of course, the main character(s) of whatever show they do. If they're doing Tangled, they're accompanied by Rapunzel and Eugene, and if they're doign Beauty and the Beast, they're acccompanied by Belle. All the other roles they fill in themselves!

However, one person that is always there to perform is the, sometimes overlooked, Sir Samuel, the very talented pianist that provides all the music for the show. Everytime I go to that show, I love everything about it, but I'm always amazed at the skills of Sir Samuel. Being a fellow pianist myself, I wanted to take a picture with him and talk about piano, but I was always too shy and sometimes he'd leave before I had a chance to talk with him. However, this time, after their first Beauty and the Beast show, I had a chance to talk to him!

I went up to him and I said hi to him and asked if we could take a photo together. We did, and after that he was so nice and thanked me for coming up to him. When I told him that I played piano too and always wanted to come up to him, he laughed and said that usually the only ones that come up to him are musicians. So, for a little bit, we talked about piano and he asked me what I like to play, and I told him I played classical music and Disney music all the time. He was one of the nicest cast members I have ever met in a Disneyland park, so shoutout to Sir Samuel!

4 ~ Meeting Captain Hook

I know that this has mostly been comprised of me meeting people, but they're all so lovely there! One person I've been wanting to meet ever since I first visited the park, though, was Captain Hook. He was my favorite character in Peter Pan, and he's one of the funniest villains in my opinion. And he looks awesome walking around the park in his humongous hat and overcoat. However, I wasn't ever able to take a picture with him...until yesterday!

Nobody was around him at the time and he was just kinda standing there. So, once he finished saying hello to this one guy, I went up to him and asked if I could take a picture with him. So, he took my hand and we posed for the camera. I ended up telling him he was my favorite character in Peter Pan and he just stroked his beard, nodded, and walked off. It was awesome, and I got some amazing new pics!

5 ~ Riding Jingles

Now we're here! The main topic of this chapter post.

Well, I'm sure we're all familiar with the King Arthur's Carousel that is at Disneyland.  It's full of horses that are royally clothed in bells and whistles and everything that makes them beautiful. However, there is a special horse among all the horses in there, and it's name is Jingles. The backstory behind Jingles is that, when Walt Disney and his wife were still alive, whenever they visited Disneyland, his wife would always ride Jingles because she was her favorite. So, already, she was a very special horse. But it gets even more special!

When Mary Poppins was celebrating its 50th anniversary, Disneyland dedicated Jingles to Julie Andrews. Jingles was then given new accesories painted on her, one of those being a coat of arms on her saddle with a picture of Mary Poppins with her umbrella, her shoes, the initials JA, and the number 50 on it, referring to the 50th anniversery.

Here's a pic of the coat of arms!

Now, I had known about this horse for a while now and really wanted to ride her. However, everytime I got on this ride, Jingles was always taken. Until yesterday! The first time I rode the carousel yesterday, somebody took Jingles, so when they got off, I could only take a quick picture and leave. But I was determined to ride Julie Andrews' horse! So, I went on it a second time later in the day and made a beeline (still not running!) for it. I managed to get it and hopped high on that horse! I enjoyed my two minutes on that ride more than any other, especially considering that the Disneyland band came on the ride and played "Belle" from "Beauty and the Beast" for us. I sang along the whole time! Then, I got an even better picture of me and Jingles - me actually riding her!

Alrighty everybody, that was my day at Disneyland yesterday. I hope you all enjoyed reading! Stay kawaii and bye for now!
