Modern Day Snow White Story
I scurried into the rental offices with my luggage in tow, trying my best not to accidentally hit anyone with my suitcase as I weaved towards the information center. "Pardon me, excuse me, very sorry!" I squeaked before standing at the help desk. An elderly woman with a pink sweater and kind eyes smiled at me from her seat behind the desk. "Hello, my dear. How may I help you today?"
I brushed a fly-away hair away from my face. "Oh, hello! I am looking to rent an apartment for the semester." I meekly said. "How lovely, please do tell me your name so I can get your rental sheet started," the woman said as she began typing on her computer. "My name is Sophie White." I smiled at her. She continued to type, and eventually said, "Okay, Ms. White, it says here that there is one apartment left to rent for the semester."
I gasped and raised I hand to my mouth. "Only one apartment left? How wonderful that I got here on time, otherwise I may not have had a place to live." The old woman smiled and giggled. "How fortunate for you!" We went through the billing information and she handed me a golden key. "Here is the key to your room, dearie." I took it happily. "Thank you very much!"
I turned to be on my way, when the woman perked up. "Oh, that's right! There's a little detail about the room that I forgot to mention. Are you going to be alright with roommates?" I smiled. "Oh yes, that's fine. I don't mind living with others!" Maybe I would make my roommates a pie, my mother's old gooseberry pie recipe sounded delicious.
I went on my way towards the apartment, which was located up the stairs and to the very left. It was the last apartment on the left side, and had a brown wood door and a golden knocker on it. The number was 8.
I smiled and put my luggage down for a second. I used my brand new key and turned the lock to open and opened the door. I wheeled my suitcase in and took in my new place. I gasped in shock.
Everything was so filthy! There were clothes on the floor, piles of unwashed dishes stacked everywhere, and so much dust and cobwebs. It looked like nobody had ever cleaned this place before. And I had a roommate? I would have to have a talk with them.
"Oh dear, this isn't what I thought it would be like at all." I sighed and rolled my suitcase into the house and shut the door behind me. "Well, there's no use in grumbling when the raindrops come tumbling." I reasoned, a smile on my face.
I opened my suitcase up and rummaged through my neatly packed clothes until I found my cute, lacy apron. I tied it around my waist and put my hands on my hips. "Alrighty, I guess I'll clean this place up. It will be a nice surprise for my roommate!"
I spent almost 2 hours cleaning that place from top to bottom. The dishes were all washed and put away, the floors were swept (including underneath the couch!), all of the furniture and appliances were dusted, the clothes were placed in a nearby laundry bin, the counters were wiped down, and there was not a cobweb in sight.
I wiped my brow and smiled. I had worked hard, and now the apartment was sparkling! I giggled in delight and sat down gracefully on the couch. I adjusted my yellow skirt and looked around. It was a very cute place! All the furniture was made of wood, the light filtered through the windows just perfectly, and there was some cute decor.
I looked around and noticed 7 different textbooks on the coffee table. One about architecture, one about mammal biology, one about economics, one about technology, one about sociology, one about history, and one about languages. They were all such different subjects, it was strange seeing them all together. Perhaps my roommate was taking a lot of classes all at once.
Suddenly, the door opened. I jumped up and tried to fix myself up and be presentable to my new roommate. I rushed towards the front door, standing a few feet away so that whoever my roommate was would have room to come in. "Why hello! I'm your new roommate, Sophie White. It's such a pleasure to meet you!"
A young man popped his head into the door. He had a beard and was wearing red flannel and glasses. His face was inquisitive at first, but he seemed kind. "O-Oh, yes! Do you how?" He shook his head. "Oh, no no, uh, how do you do? Yes! How do you do?" He asked, getting his words jumbled a bit. He stuck out a hand and I shook it. What a colorful character! I think we would get along just fine.
Then, another man, also with a beard, walked in. He was wearing a yellow shirt and had a big smile plastered on his face. "Oh, is this the new roommate? Well, a pleasure to meet you!" He stuck out his hand and shook mine with much energy. "O-Oh, a pleasure!" I quickly spoke up. I had two roommates? This was news to me! Well, we did have two bedrooms, perhaps one of us could sleep on the couch, or the two boys could share?
Suddenly, another man walked in! And then another, and another, and another, and soon there were seven men standing in front of me. I was flabbergasted!
"You...do you all live here?" I asked, curiously.
"Yes!" They all answered in unison.
I held my head in my hands. I had seven roommates and they were seven men!?
This was going to be an adventure like no other!

Hi everyone! Thanks for reading this modern Snow White story. I was inspired to make a version of Snow White where she goes to college and rooms with seven men (like the seven dwarves!) and they all live together, and behave exactly like the roles in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I had so much fun writing this and there is still much more that I want to write, so be sure to look out for part 2!
