Eclair stared at the two men sitting in the booth, her eyes laced with a sudden confusion.
'Illumi? Why is he here? How does he know Hisoka? Oh shit.'
A thousand questions with no answers, ran through her mind. There was only one thing she knew for certain.
'He's going to tell mother-'
"Eclair. Its been a while, has it not?" The colorless voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
"Illumi.." She nodded her head curtly, and forced a small smile.
She took a seat next to Hisoka near the window, her eyes never leaving the assassin's dull ones.
"So, it seems you two have already met~ If you don't mind my asking, how so?~"
Hisoka's voice, albeit strange, was oddly comforting.
Maybe, it was the fact that it wasn't 'his' voice, but it didn't matter.
"We were engaged once apon a time," Hisoka's eyebrows rose in amusement, "That was before she ran away, from everything she could've ever needed."
The words sounded abnormal coming from the assassin, but Eclair wasn't about to start arguments then, and there. Well, that is, she tried.
"You know that's not the truth, Illumi."
She was glaring at him, and Hisoka fought the urge to chuckle.
'She probably thinks her glare is scary, how cute~'
Truth was, Eclair was a very attractive person, and about as frightening as a rabbit.
The fact that she tried to look menacing, or even a bit scary, was quite adorable to Hisoka.
"-ow what. Fuck you. I don't have time for this shit."
The woman's upset voice brought him back to reality, and he didn't even realize he wasn't paying attention.
"Eclair, it would be best not to cause a scene in a place like this."
She looked away from Illumi, and stared at the large amount of onlookers watching the small, one-sided argument break out, who all of which turned their heads away hastily.
She looked back at the assasin, "Whatever. Just get your fucking facts straight."
Hisoka was sure that if Illumi made normal expressions like everyone else, he'd probably have an amused one right about now.
"I know you two have to catch up on some things, but we have more important things to discuss~"
Eclair stopped talking altogether, and a wave of nausea swept over her.
"Ah, your right Hisoka." Illumi was first to break the silence.
'Is he betraying me? Has this been a trick all along?'
Eclair eyed the two men in front of her warily, "W-what things..?"
Illumi noticed the slight change in her voice, and looked to Hisoka, "You didn't tell her?"
Hisoka shook his head, "It was going to be a surprise~" he turned to look at Eclair, "Illumi has offered to help us with our little project~"
The nausea went away suddenly, and was replaced with suspicion.
"No. Not happening." She glared once again at the assasin.
"Why not?~" the magician stated, not mentioning that he'd already paid him a large amount, to act as another spy.
"Because I--no, WE don't need his help."
"It'd be much easier for the both of us, if you would just cooperate, Eclair."
She hated it when Illumi said her name.
Not that he said it in a particular way, it just bothered her a great deal for some reason.
"Why do you even want to help? Last I checked, you like it more when I'm suffering, than when I'm successful. So why."
Her voice was between a thin line of aggression, and curiosity, which piqued the magician's interest.
'I wonder what happened between them.. Maybe i'll ask her.'
"Your mother has quite the bounty on her head, so we've gotten a large amount of jobs that involve her."
Hisoka could see Eclair almost squirming in her seat, but he didn't understand why.
"So basically.." She began, "I want my mother dead.. And so do a lot of other people. So, you'll help me do it to get money for your "family".. Right?"
"More or less, that about covers it."
The assassin answered, not bothering to explain further.
Eclair didn't respond, and kept glancing at the two men, her expression untrusting.
"It sounds too easy.. like.. Your hiding something. Tell me now, or you can forget about it."
'Good intuituon~'
"Depending on how the situation turns out all together, let's say, if she were to pay us more than all of our patrons put together, we'll have no choice, but to turn you in to her."
"Fuck no. I'm never going back to her. EVER."
Her tone was displeased, and Hisoka had to find a way to change her mind quickly, before the situation spiraled downward even more than it already had.
"Ya'know, we'll probably be able to capture Reah a lot faster with Illumi, than on our own~ He has a lot of higher up connections~"
"That's true.. I guess.."
Good, it was working. He continued to convince her, "And, tracking her down should be like child's play, for someone of his particular talent~"
"Well.."
"Well?~"
Eclair looked into the magician's eyes, trying to see if there was a hidden motive behind them.
She examined his golden orbs closely, taking note of the different golden flecks within the irises, and his sharp pupils which almost could be mistaken for slits.
They were one of the most beautiful pairs of eyes she'd ever seen, not that she'd seen many pairs of eyes up close and personal.
"Eclair~ Your gonna make me blush~" Hisoka interrupted her stare fest, and put a hand on his cheek playfully.
She stopped staring at him, and turned to the assassin after finding no hidden motive.
"Fine. It's a deal.. but," she put emphasis on the last word, "If she pays you to capture me, you will tell me before you accept the money. That way, I'll know that it was you who made the decision."
After her words they all sat in an awkward silence, Eclair sending Hisoka small glances from out of her peripheral vision.
'He's comforting.. And I don't like it.'
"Well, if that'll be all," Illumi stood up swiftly, not making a sound besides his voice, "I'll be taking my leave. Expect updates on her current whereabouts soon. Goodbye Hisoka, Eclair."
He was so poised, and elagant, Eclair couldn't help but admire him for a second, but she quickly shrugged it off and focused her attention to Hisoka.
"Now that he's gone.. Do we have to sit like this?"
She motioned to the magician's shoulder, which was pressed tightly against her own, leaving hardly enough space for the both of them to move.
She looked across his lap, and sure enough saw much more space than she'd thought they'd had.
"Were you sitting that close to me on purpose?"
She gritted her teeth in annoyance, and squinted her eyes.
Hisoka only chuckled at her outburst, and proceeded to move to the side across from her.
'Now that I think about it.. He was pretty close.. And, our legs were touching.. I enjoyed it? No, no. I couldn't have. Silly me. And I really need to stop having conversations with myself in my head-'
"Are you ok? You look like you want to say something~" Hisoka's voice snapped her out of her self scolding, and she frowned.
"Yea, actually."
"Shoot~"
"How do you know Illumi?"
"I was wondering the same about you~"
She raised an eyebrow at him, "He told you we were engaged. Family thing. That's how we know each other."
"Yea, but you seemed so, what's the word I'm looking for, purturbed by him~"
She sighed and shook her head, "I'll tell you another time. Can we just leave? I'm tired.."
'Subject change~'
"Sure, let's go~"
They both stood up, and exited the small café, Eclair not failing to feel his hand brush slightly against her butt as they did.
"Watch your hands, Hisoka." She growled.
"It was an accident, sorry~"
'Or was it~~'
