Me, planning Survival of the Fittest like:
*Me* "M'kay, so both characters that my readers are sure to think will die will turn out fine, however, another character will be affected, and the stress of them almost dying will put an arc into action that won't result in the characters death, but they will die directly after the arc because that's when it's gonna hurt the most."
*Also me* "It physically hurts me to kill you off, but this is a zombie apocalypse. Maybe I'll resurrect you later on."
*My friends* Kill them all in the most gruesome way possible. Don't bring them back.
*Me* I like to write what happens after the death and how it affects the characters mentally better.
*My friends*
*Me*
*Me* Also I get really emotionally attached to the characters...
Fun fact. I barely plan my stories. I just put, like, No One Mourns the Wicked on loop, then think about an arc I'd like to see. When I do plan, the story never actually follows what I wanted to happen in the plan.
Which is prolly for the better.
