Chapter 30

A/N/ So, its been a while so here have a chapter, so glad to be writing again tbh I've just been kinda unmotivated and like have y'all realized how boring this book is- (also I have like 200 followers now so thanks people who followed me I guess...? Sorry I'm awkward)

Virgil's POV

The Prince and I talked for most of the night as if we were not completely avoiding each other only hours before. Eventually Roman said he had to go to bed which I can respect to a degree, I will make fun of him for it but I do respect it.

I shut off my phone which has grown warm with the amount I've been using it and I've had it plugged in for the past forty five minutes and set it on the floor next to me.

Now that I think about it, it was Roman's birthday and humans do celebrate those things so I could do something customary like give him some sort of object. Well I do have a shit load of pins.

After a quick scan of my backpack I chose a pin that I never ended up adding to the rest of them. I used to have it in my bag but it didn't match the others as well as I would've wanted so I told myself I would put it somewhere when I got home some random morning, putting it into one of the side pockets.

spoiler alert, I never put it anywhere and it has stayed in that side pocket.

It's the size of a normal Hot Topic pin and has a simple white crown in the center with a horizontal rainbow background. I guess it will do, the rainbow is appropriate in this situation.

I turned it over and with much difficulty peeled the sticker off the back (that for some reason is the kind of sticker that doesn't come off cleanly and just rips while also leaving a residue on the back of the pin) that said the price. I would normally leave the sticker on because they're too much effort to get off and I don't really care to much about it, but since it's going to Roman it's different.

I walked into the bathroom and wiped off the residue (and some of the sticker that just refused to cooperate) with a wet washcloth before slipping the pin into my pocket and heading out into the living room where my dads were watching Avatar: The Last Airbender to ask if we had a small box or something I could use so I wouldn't end up just awkwardly handing Roman a pin in the middle of the hallway.

My dads were both on the couch, Therapist dad had his head resting on Caffeine dad's shoulder as they both watched the show. I noticed there were two bowls sitting in front of them and there was the distinct smell of Ramen in the air.

Caffeine dad was the first to notice me.

"You've left your room, I'm proud." he says with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

"As I'm sure you've noticed we had some Ramen, feel free to have some if you're hungry you know where everything is. Well I think you do we're still relatively new here, but I'm sure you can figure it out. "

It took me a second to remember it's been a while since I've eaten something so I walk over to the kitchen and grab a bowl from the cabinet.

"Isn't it kinda late to be up?" Therapist dad asks sounding tired. He grabbed the T.V. remote and turned down the volume of the show.

"I was texting Roman." I reply. I was looking down pouring the dehydrated noodles into my bowl (to quote my Caffeine dad, "We microwave Ramen in this household gosh darn it!") but I could still see the look my parents gave each other.

I hate that I know exactly what they're thinking about.

"Yeah turns the dude I go to school with who has the same name as my soulmate actually is my soulmate, weird huh." I say setting my bowl into the microwave.

"Super weird, how's all that going kiddo? I know it can be a bit jarring when you first find your soulmate. But eventually you'll both love and hate him at the same time!" My therapist dad said reassuringly.

My dad who did not have a Starbucks cup in his hand right now which was quite concerning looked like he wanted to say something then therapist dad looked at him with a small smile causing him to think better of it.

"Well anyway, do we have a small box or something about the size of a hot topic pin that I could have?" I asked before the conversation went to something completely unrelated.

"That's and oddly specific question, may I ask why you need this box?" My therapist dad asked sitting up and facing me fully.

"Well Roman's birthday was not that long ago and I thought I could give him something, a sorta peace offering in a way now that I think about it..."

"I support that entirely, but I don't know if we have a random small box just laying around." My Cartoon obsessed dad said looking at my other dad, brows knitted.

"We might, the amount of boxes we used when moving was insane so I bet there's something we could use in the boxes we haven't gotten rid of yet." My caffeine dad replied.

By this point I had finished making my food and had it steaming on the counter.

"Ya'know what, I think you should be getting to bed soon so if he doesn't mind Remy and I will look through the boxes and let you know tomorrow morning, what do you think?" My therapist dad asked.

"I guess that'll work, do you guys want me to go to my room now or should I eat out here?"

Therapist dad thought for a moment before replying.

"If you want you could eat out here and watch with us."

I've seen the whole show already, but it's an amazing show so I sat down on the couch as my caffeinated father turned the volume back up.
