Virgil's POV

I was really planning on talking to Roman after school, like a responsible human, but he just wasn't having it.

He left almost immediately after school ended, I watched as he slammed his locker shut and speed walked away. A few people looked like they wanted to talk to him, but I guess they knew him well enough to know not mess with him when he's in this sort of mood.

I would've tried to go after him but I wanna keep up my reputation here and running after mister popular guy like some sort of damsel in distress isn't exactly something I want any living organism to witness.

You know what, scratch that. The organism doesn't have to be alive.

Anyway, today doesn't seem much better. Roman just didn't show up to school and Patton looks real sad. On the other hand Remus is here and looks quite cocky.

The only good thing that has happened so far is when I overheard someone I don't know talking to their friend when I was walking past. I didn't hear much especially because of the whole bunch of teenagers walking freely around in a hallway.

I saw them all glance over at me and one of them mumbled something like "I heard he got kicked out of his last school for beating up a kid! Like he was in the hospital!"

I guess word travels fast around here.

During lunch I did something I never thought I'd do voluntarily. I talked to Remus.

"Hey, Remus." I said sitting down at the table where he was. Unsurprisingly he was sitting alone.

"Oh hello Virgil! How are you on this fine day?" He asked extravagantly.

"Okay cut the crap I need to know where Roman is and why he isn't here." I said slamming my bag onto the table much more aggressively then I intended.

"He's at home ditching school because yesterday was our birthday and well I'm sure you can comprehend the rest, will that be all?"

I rolled my eyes.

We can talk about the whole soulmate thing later, It's not that important.

"Could you do me a favor actually?" I said suddenly getting an idea.

"Maybe."

"Could you like... punch Roman for me." I asked.

"As much as I would love to, my mom told me to stop giving Roman black eyes. But I could give him a pretty nasty bruise on his arm or something!" Remus said almost to eagerly.

"Nothing to bad, just get the point across. Do you want any kinda payment?"

"What do you have?"

"Uh all I have that I'm willing to give up is deodorant I keep forgetting to take out of my bag" I said glancing at my bag re-thinking what I carry around.

You never know when you gotta bribe someone.

I was completely expecting Remus to deny but he seemed quite happy with just deodorant.

"You're such a weird person..." I mumbled digging around through my bag. Once I found the object in question I handed it to him and he did something I've only seen happen once.

He took a bite of the fucking deodorant like is was some sorta candy bar.

"Oh my god you're the guy that was eating deodorant on a bus..."

"Wow I'm so popular!" And that was all this asshole said before standing up and just... fucking leaving. I don't know which twin I dislike more.

So I guess now I'm relying on Remus to do something for me because I gave him deodorant. I used to live a normal life.

Deciding that I look even more emo (Not that that's a bad thing, I do quite enjoy being emo) just sitting here all by myself I got up and started to blend into the crowed so I wouldn't be caught by Patton or Logan on my way out.

But my luck being what it is I almost ran right into the freakin Heathers.

I wonder if it's possible to get struck by lightning while inside.

"Oh would you look at that it's mister tough guy. I must say I'm surprised to see you not trying to brainwash Roman." She said in her 'definitely gonna be a Karen when she grows up' voice.

"Dude, can we be in the same room without you making some stupid comment? Honestly I think Patton could come up with better insult then you. So I'm gonna go and continue with my brooding." I said brushing past her, holding my breath as I go so my nose isn't assaulted by her discussing perfume.

It wasn't until my final period when I realized that Roman has done a classic uno reverse on me.

Eh, I'll get my revenge.

But then again Remus isn't the most reliable. I'll just go over to his house a few hours after school to make sure Remus did the thing and maybe give Roman a good talking to for making Patton sad.

My dad did always say that if someone was messing with me I was allowed to stand up for myself or whatever and he isn't the type of person to just say things. Unless he promised to come home at some time before midnight before I came into the picture, but still. If he knew Patton as well as I do he would understand what I did.

Right?

Oh gosh what have I done... this could go so wrong I should've thought more about what I was doing before I made that deal.

Why do I always do something stupid like this! I'm gonna get Roman hurt, my parents will be so disappointed in me and I will manage to be the first person ever who managed to make their soulmate hate them.
