Chapter 24
Roman's POV
After a few of the most confusing days and most boring weekend that has ever happened to anyone ever, it is currently Sunday night.
My birthday is in a few hours, technically it's both my brother and my birthday because we are twins or whatever. But the point is that my parents insist on staying up until midnight so they can find out who our soulmates are immediately. Apparently its really cool to watch it show up, which I actually am exited for but I don't really want an audience. There is always the possibility that I wont have a soulmate which is really rare but possible so really anything can happen.
It'll be about two hours before midnight. We ate a big dinner before they allowed us to go to our rooms but instructed us to emerge from our rooms at a "quarter till midnight" after a bit of thinking I realized that they meant 11:45 and just don't wanna talk like normal people.
While I was just finally starting to enjoy watching random Disney YouTube videos on my phone while sitting with my back up against my headboard my brother opened my door in a very dramatic way. How dare he try to steal my thing! I'm the dramatic one! You don't see me being grossly inappropriate!
"Hello dear brother! I have come to have a civil conversation with you about normal things!" Remus said in the most sarcastic way.
"That was the most suspicious thing you've ever said. But I'm interested so you are allowed to keep talking." I said shutting of my phone and preparing myself for this conversation.
"Well I was thinking, what if one of us doesn't have a soulmate? What would we do then?" He asked sitting onto my bed.
Not again! I'm getting sick of washing my sheets!
I pulled my legs further towards me.
"Remus if you are trying to make me anxious its not gonna work. That's Virgil's job. Also for the last time can you not sit on my bed without... I don't know taking a shower? I've seen you just chilling in a trash can eating deodorant before and I really don't want to know where else you've been." I said in the most 'I would appreciate it if you would not be such an ass' voice.
"Nah, I prefer to make you uncomfortable! And one of my favorite things to do is to watch you have to throw all of your blankets into the laundry every time I decide to pay you a little visit." He said in his natural 'I am literally incapable of not being an ass' voice.
"Wow okay. Are you done testing my patience or would you like to stay?" I asked as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.
"Our birth giver told me to leave the kitchen and my room is a mess, I think I'm gonna stay here until our parents want us." He said plugging his headphones into his phone and leaning back on my bed.
"Dude you could be anywhere else in the house or just clean your room you really don't have to be here." I said hoping for once in his life he would actually do what I want.
"Nah I'm comfortable here."
Curses.
After deciding there was nothing I could do to stop him, I pulled out my pair of headphones and continued to watch YouTube.
After one of the many times that my brother and I tried to watch YouTube in the same room and ended up fighting because we kept trying to have whatever the hell we were watching louder then whatever the hell the other dude was watching, our parents got us headphones (Red for me, green for him obviously) and we were both required to always use headphones when watching something in the same room.
After a while, I forgot his existence and the concept of time and we were called out into the kitchen.
I got up and shoved my headphones into my pocket (I regretted that almost immediately because I hate having to untangle my stupid headphones) and walked out into the living room.
My mom looked ten times as exited as my dad.
"So, its almost time! How are you guys feeling?" She asked us. My brother started talking, actually answering the question while I looked over at the clock hung above the fireplace.
Had I really been in the same room as my brother for two hours?!?!
"What about you Roman? I know you've been looking forward to this since you first learned about soulmates!" My mom said looking at me probably looking for a more normal answer.
"Oh yeah I can't wait, maybe girls will stop trying to date me now." I said shrugging and checking the time again.
Only a few more minutes...
"Oh poor you." Remus said sarcastically while sitting on the couch.
"Dude chill." I said giving him a look.
My mom went on talking about how her and dad met, something about how they went to different school and met through a mutaul friend and... well I stopped listening.
"Oh! only a minute left now!" She said after glancing at the clock.
Remus and I glanced at each other before looking at our wrists.
Finally the clock struck midnight and I watched as the name appeared on my wrist, as if it were being written with an invisible pen.
The name shocked me to say the least.
I looked over at Remus who seemed quite pleased with himself.
"Who is it?" I asked before my mom had had the chance.
"That is non of your business Roman." he said before swiftly standing up and walking to what I thought was his room but he ended up going to my room.
"Okay then, but what about you Roman?" My dad asked looking at me.
"Well, if he's not telling I'm not telling." I said stubbornly. I stood up and walked into my room leaving my parents extremely confused.
Remus was sitting on my bed again, still smiling.
"Hey Roman, you actually got a soulmate right? Remus asked while standing up and closing the door being all suspicious.
"Uh yeah?" I answered backing up so I was closer to my desk.
I have scissors in my desk and I don't trust him.
"Ha looser. I don't. The universe can suck it!" He said still sounding proud of himself.
"Wow, you are such an odd person." I said crossing my arms over my chest.
"Who's yours?" he asked me probably looking for a new thing to use as blackmail.
I sighed and held my wrist up to show him.
He didn't look suprised.
"Yeah I thought so." He said. "Its like some sort of cheesy movie plot, you know that right?"
"Okay you can leave now." I said fed up with his bs.
He smirked then left my room. Finally.
I looked back down at the name on my wrist.
In slightly messy, almost rushed looking in handwriting was the name Virgil in purple ink.
