Roman's POV

I got all the signatures, the whole paper was filled even! I just had to tell them it was because I wanted to see who had the best handwriting. Unsurprisingly they took the bait.

I'm a bit worried about Virge though, he was acting weird this morning after he gave me the sheet, and I think he started avoiding me.

Whenever we crossed paths in the hall he glanced at me then avoided eye contact. I didn't even see him or Logan at lunch, I was forced to sit with my other... friends.

I have a therapy appointment not long after school so Patton can't come over so I guess I'm just kinda screwed.

I closed my locker and started walking to the parking lot.

"Excuse me Roman." I heard Logan say behind me.

"Oh hey Logan, what's up?" I asked while turning around.

"I was told to collect a paper from you, the one with all the signatures." He said robotically.

I almost forgot.

"Or right! My bad, one second please!" I said slipping my bag off my shoulder and took out the sheet. I was about to hand it to him when I hesitated.

"Uh Logan, why didn't Virgil come to get this." I asked slowly. Silently hating the way my voice sounded so weak and needy. That's how I feel but the world didn't need to know that! Damn feelings always getting in the way of my excellent acting ability.

"I do not know, Virgil didn't say. I did ask but he didn't elaborate." He said putting his hands down after I didn't give him the paper.

"Oh, well okay then..." I trailed off. Something over my shoulder caught his attention.

I turned around to find what could distract Logan from mwah. Turns out it was the emo we were talking about. Great.

He had one earbud in and was scrolling through something, probably looking for some music.

"Speak of the devil..." I mumbled.

Virgil didn't seem to notice us but he did look quite uncomfortable, as he walked closer he seemed to get even more uncomfortable.

He was a few feet in front of me now. He stopped, his eyes flicked up then back to his phone before he sighed.

"Are you gonna keep staring me or are you gonna say something, or better yet pretend I don't exist and carry on with your conversation." Virgil said, in a tone that reminded me of the tone he used before we got to know each other.

I was about to say something but Virgil started talking again.

"You seem to not be able to make up your mind, I'll do it for you." He said before starting to walk away.

What the hell... my bad.

"Wait, here's your dang name sheet thing." I said shoving the paper in his direction.

He snatched it away from me without a word and walked away.

"That was... really weird. I thought we were starting to become friends. Hey Logan, you're smart did I do anything that might've offended Virge? I try to do my best with these things and ya know not offend people but sometimes I say things..." I said starting to fidget with the strap on my backpack.

Logan thought for a second before saying "I don't think you did anything, but there always is a possibility that some action you've done caused him to be upset with you. Has he been like this all day?" he asked.

"Uh no actually. Everything seemed completely normal this morning." I said looking down at my white converse. (I don't wear them much because I'm lazy and I  don't like cleaning them)

"I'm not good with emotions, in fact I think of them as the bane of my existence. You may want to speak with Patton about all of this. He seems to have much more knowledge in this sort of situation." Logan said using his index finger to push his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

"Yeah that would probably be wise. Do you know where he is?" I said, and as if on cue Patton came strolling along with a faint smile on his face and his cat ear headphones in his left hand and his phone in his right.

He glanced up and saw us, his smile immediately growing.

"Hey guys! What are you two doing here, normally you're gone by now." Patton said cheerfully.

"I had to give something to Virgil, I don't know what Logan's excuse is." I said waving a dismissive hand in his direction.

"I was told to collect the "thing" from Roman for Virgil." Logan said, rolling his eyes at my gesture.

"Oh okay! I was just talking to Thomas!" Patton said with a small shrug.

"Patton, if you don't mind me asking, why were you speaking with Mr. Sanders? " Logan asked.

I forget he doesn't know as much about Patton as I do.

"I just like to talk to him, he's one of the more chill teachers here! I like to chat with him after school if I can." Patton replied shrugging again but a bit more subtly.

"Interesting. Well I need to get going before my parents start to worry. I also have homework due tomorrow."  Logan said more to Patton then to me.

"Okay Logan, see ya tomorrow!"  Patton replied. Just as Logan was about to walk away the heathers came walking down the hall. And just like how their known to do they were walking in V formation and their self proclaimed leader looked as smug as ever.

I couldn't help but wonder why they were still here.

"Oh wow, it looks like they're all back to normal now! Thank goodness, I really missed you like this, whatever your name is. I'd ask where the other one is but I really don't care! Anyway, I don't like how we left things the other day and I think we should continue our little chat." The "Leader" said with a smile faker then the smile of someone who wants people to think they are happy in her high pitched condescending voice.

Patton looked nervous while Logan just looked upset that he was stopped from leaving.

"Well, I think we should just leave things how they were and pretend we don't know each other." I suggested.

She just scoffed.

"Wow Roman, I'm shocked! Here we are trying to save you from these people and you're being very rude!" The head heather said. I could definitely fake shock so much better then her.

"I think you should apologize." One of the two girls added.

"I don't think that's necessary actually."  I said back, doing my best to keep my temper down.

"What do you think? Do you think Roman should apologize to us for being to rude to us when we were trying to help him?" Basically heather said directly at Patton in a voice so snarky I had to bite the inside of my cheek to stop myself from doing something I would regret.

Patton let out a shaky "Um..." before turning to me, his eyes all but begging me to help him.

I was about to start defending my friend, when I heard footsteps behind me. As they neared they became almost angry sounding.

I looked back at the girls and saw they clearly were trying to cover the fact that whoever is coming closer was making them feel uneasy.

I don't think I've ever seen them look like this...
