The door was shut tight behind Ila, as the last members of REEPS slip past.
"How did you know I was going to let them pass?" Ila asked sweetly, if one finger pressed agaisnt her lips.
"Simple. If you could have stopped them, you would have stopped them back there already." Rima stood in a pose, with one arm on the hip and the other gesturing.
"Then why did you stay?" Ila lips pursed into a smile.
"You can't fight all of us at once. But surely you would buy enough time for reinforcements to come. And if no one stayed behind, no one is stopping you from sandwiching us from the back. I figured if I stay behind, I could buy enough time for the rest of the group to get to their destination."
"Very sharp and detailed analysis of the situation, for that I applauded you."
"Coming from the best strategist from the game, I am flattered."
"Oh dear, I am the one flattered!" Ila said with a small wave. "But there is just one small problem with your plan."
"Do tell please."
"You are sending your whole entire guild and friends onto the path of Hades."
Rima frowned.
"Our guild has came through fire and hell, I have my most utter trust and confidence in them."
"Believe whatever words you want young lady, but before the blade of 'it' they are no more then mannequins soon to be cut down."
"It?"
"Oops!" Ila quickly covered her mouth in an intentionally manner. "It appears that I said too much. But instead of worrying about your friend, you should worry more about your own current situation."
"I am very well aware of my current situation." Rima replied, as she fiddle with her watch.
"Very well then." Ila dipped her dress once, then resumed regular posture. "Shall we begin?"
"After you my lady." Rima said with a sarcastic tone.
"Thank you young lady." Ila said courteously, before stretching a hand out and yelling: "COSMOS!!!"
At once, all the light was sucked out of the room like a dark hole, leaving a vast expansion of dark space. A brief moment later, the entire room was lit up and surrounded by a tiny million stars like gemstones, ever blinking and fading. And there Rima found herself at the center of the galaxy, feet planted on the tapestry of space, yet there was nothing beneath.
"I control this space." Ila found herself explaining. "This space is cut off from the current room outside. And as long as I stand, none shall enter or leave this space."
"I see." Rima lowered her head. "You said you control this space, correct?"
"That is correct."
"That means, there is nowhere for me to hide or run."
"Indeed."
"You planned to do this from the very start, knowing I will be facing you alone."
"That has not been decided, but it does appear to be the case indeed."
"Then, there is only one thing I can do." Rima said, as she scrolled down her menu and tapped something.
"Um?" Ila cocked her head for a moment, and the instant Rima equipped her item Ila's eyes widened. "Good grief! What kind of monstrosity is this!?!?!?"
"It's called a MPG, which stands for Magic propelled grenade." Rima said, as she calmly reloaded her weapon. "The magic MPG doesn't actually exist within the official game, but my good man Le Bifteck designed and created it within his own forge. It's still a prototype, but it's good enough..."
Rima slowly stood up and hefted the MPG, pointed and aimed it at Ila.
"REEPS WEAPONRY SEKAII NO IICHI!!!" Rima pulled the trigger.
SHOOO!-
BOOM!!!
Fire and debris lit up the place, but Ila's figure was nowhere to be seen.
Teleport..
Rima gritted her teeth at the thought.
"Impressive toy young lady." There, Ila stood about 10 meters from the spot of the explosion. "But I am afraid play time is over." she stretched out a hand: "Meteor shower!"
At once, a large enchantment circle lit up the space above. As hundred of pebbles seemingly from a far, grew larger and larger, until they were the size of the whole room by the time they exited the circle.
BOOM!!!
There was a blinding white light, and as the light begin to dim again, it was evident, the space was back to normal, the room still the same as it was, everything neat and square, as if nothing had been touched before.
"Um?" Ila looked down and noticed the peculiar object beside her foot. A person size green cocoon laying on the ground, it wiggled once, then twice, and on the 3rd time, it bursted open with a surprise:
"REEPS INVENTION NO.2 ! Iron cocoon!" Rima shouted, as she lunged forward with something in her hand.
"Star surge!" Ila pointed, and immediately several streaks of white light shot out from the tip of her finger, piercing right through Rima's body in mid-lunge.
"GWAH!!!" Rima spat out blood, and fell to the ground like a ragged doll.
"You did well for a child." Ila hovered above her, finger still pointed at her. "But it seems you have played the wrong moves in the end. Checkmate."
Seemingly out of desperation, Rima grab hold of the brim of Ila's dress.
"Struggling to the end to buy time for your friends? How noble of you." Ila looked down with a pleased smile.
"You can't teleport when someone is in contact with you." Rima said with a low dying breath.
"That is correct."
"REEPS invention no.3..." Rima drew in one last breath: "MAGIC TIME BOMB!"
Time seemed to come to a halt, as the realization finally dawned upon her:
What? The watch!?
Back there she wasn't just fiddling with the watch, she was setting the time bomb!
To calculate to such precise timing and action...
This young woman...
It was at that moment Ila knew:
She fked up.
BOOM!!!
Q: Did you ever have a "It was at that moment I knew, I fked up" moment before?
