All Hallows' Eve
Needlessly I break on a rock
my own heart made
and drown in a sea
of foolish misery
I wash onto the shoreline
covered in weeds and refuse
Stubbornly still scanning
for all I can lose
I am poor by my own design
Lost because I walked away
Nobody trying to find...me
can succeed until I stay
Wandering spirits kept me company
as I floated from wave to passing wave
Sometimes I swam over the crest of the sea
Sometimes it pulled me toward a watery grave
People stand aghast at a ghost like me
with gaping mouths they can barely believe
I am the same man who once set out so free
An omen returning on All Hallows' Eve
