Chapter 1: To the woods and caught by dad
Scott McCall is sitting on his bed in his room, wearing only a pair of gym shorts, as he re-threads the laces on his lacrosse stick. Once he's determined that the net on his stick is secure and loose enough, he tosses the stick on his bed before walking toward the bathroom door, where he has a bar mounted on the lintel. After doing a series of chin-ups, Scott goes into the bathroom, where he brushes his teeth and washes his face before bed.
Suddenly, Scott hears a noise outside and pauses to listen for danger. The scene cuts to the front porch, where Scott, now in a red hoodie, walks outside with a wooden baseball bat in hand as he investigates what is causing the noise. Suddenly, a figure appears hanging from the roof, and Scott yelps in terror, almost hitting the person in the face with his bat until he realizes that it is Hope Stilinski, his best friend, who is yelping just as loudly.
"Ahhh!!!!"
"Dear god!" Melissa said, exclaiming at the two.
"Why not use a door?" Isaac asked, curious and confused.
"Cuz. Doors are boring." The girl replied, smiling.
"What?"
"Hope, what the hell are you doing?!" Scott said, putting the bat down, huffing.
"You weren't answering your phone!" Hope exclaimed, before eyeing the bat. "Why do you have a bat?"
"Isn't that mine?" Hope asked, as Scott's eyes widened.
"Nope!"
"I thought you were a predator!" Scott said, annoyed.
"Excuse me? I'm too pretty to be a predator, thank you very much." Hope snarked.
"Corse you are." Lydia said, smiling softly.
"Okay. Look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this. I saw my dad leave twenty minutes ago. Dispatch called-- they're bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department, and even state police." Hope explained to him.
Scott frowned at the information he was receiving. "For what?"
"Two joggers found a body in the woods." Hope replies.
"Sorry." Hope apologies to Derek.
"It's fine."
Reaching up to pull herself free of the trellis, Hope lands on his feet in front of Scott, who still looks confused.
"What, a dead body?"
"Nah, totally not." Isaac says, rolling his eyes.
Hope reaches up and leans on the railing to look at Scott at eye-level with a sarcastic expression. "No, a body of water." She then rolls her eyes. "Yes, dumbass. A dead body."
Scott looks unnerved about this news as Hope climbs over the railing to join him on the porch.
"You mean, like, murdered?"
"Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her twenties." The girl informed him.
"Hold on, if they found the body, then what are they looking for?" Scott points out, confused.
"That's the best part-- they only found half!" Hope giggles, excited for the adventure.
"How is that good?!" Melissa asked but was not answered.
"We're going, aren't we?" Scott asked, already knowing the answer.
"Of course, Scotty." The girl smirked. "Now get your ass in that car."
"Yes, Ma'am." Scott nodded, quickly.
"Wow, you're scared of her?" Sam asked, a bit surprised.
Him and Dean were pulled to also watch this much to deans protesting.
"Yes, she's scary." Scott exclaimed.
"He's just being dramatic. I'm not that scary." Hope said, patting Scott's head. "Yet."
"Yet?!"

The two pull into the preserve in Hope's teal blue Jeep, illuminating the sign warning against entry after dark with the Jeep's headlights. Hope gets out with a flashlight in hand. Scott follows, hurrying to keep up with her as the walk in the dark woods.
"Are we really doing this?" Scott asks, breaking the silence.
Hope shrugged. "You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town."
"Wow, Scott. Thank you so much." Chris said with sarcasm.
"You're welcome!"
Everyone looked at him with 'wtf' face.
"I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow." Scott told his best friend.
Hope snickered. "Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort."
"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line." Scott defended himself.
"Right, okay." Hope stops when she realizes he is serious. "Oh, are serious?"
"Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?" Scott changed the subject.
"Oh... ummm. Totally didn't think about that." The girl mumbled, thinking about it now.
"Hope!" Her dad exclaims, turning towards his daughter.
"What?!" Hope yelled back. "You know I forget things!"
"I didn't think that would count."
"Well, it does!"
"And, uh... what if whoever killed the body is still out here?" Scott asked.
"Something I also didn't think about." Hope mumbles making her friend sigh.
Dean stared at the screen, wondering how someone so smart could be so dumb.
"Thanks, hope."
"Course!"
Scott's breathing starts to become rapid, shallow, and wheezy as the two continue up the hill, with Scott struggling to keep up with Stiles' quick pace.
"Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?"
Hopes eyes widened, before turning around to help her best friend. "Here."
Scott took the inhaler from her snd used it.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, let's go."
When they see a handful of people ahead of them waving flashlights around as part of the search, Hope and Scott dive behind a large fallen tree branch as they plan their next move, turning off the flashlight so they don't attract attention.
Unfortunately for them both, Hopes impatience eventually wins out, and he whispers back to Scott as she jumps up and runs toward the action.
"Hope!"
"Cmon!"
"Wait!!"
"Hope!!"
She finally hears the last attempt to call her name, but the split second of distraction caused the nearby K9 officer to start barking at her, scaring her so much she falls backwards onto the ground.
The deputy with the search dog immediately points his flashlight at Hope as she tries to recover from the shock.
"Hold it right there!"
Hope puts his hands up while Scott, several meters behind him, hides behind a nearby tree, pressing his back to it and closing his eyes as though it will keep him from being seen.
Just then, another male voice is heard-- it is Noah Stilinski, Hope's father and the Sheriff of Beacon County.
"Hang on."
Hope stands to her feet, shielding her eyes from the bright flashlight held toward him by the deputy.
"This little delinquent belongs to me."
Hope decided to play it cool. "Hey, dad."
"Soo cool." Dean muttered, sarcastically.
"Oh, shut it."
"So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?" Noah asked.
"What??? Nooo." Hope said before adding the ending. "Not the boring ones."
"What exactly is boring to you?" Lydia asked, amused.
"Cant tell ya." Hope says with a smirk. "You guys could use it against me."
"Figured, so where is the other partner in crime?" Noah asked, looking for Scott.
"Who, Scott?, Scott's home. He said he wanted to get a good night's sleep for first day back at school tomorrow." She lied, terribly.
"You're such a bad lair." Sam told her.
"I'm not that bad.... Anymore."
It is obvious that Stilinski doesn't buy what Hope is saying, and he lifts his flashlight and tries to get a look around to find Scott, who is still hiding behind the tree.
"Scott, you there?"
After a moment, when Scott doesn't materialize in front of him, Stilinski reluctantly determines that Scott isn't with her after all.
He then sighs before grabbing hope roughly by the back of the neck and steering him toward the entrance to the preserve.
"Well, young lady, I'm gonna walk you back to your car... And then you and I are gonna have a conversation about something called "invasion of privacy.""
"Can we talk about something else?"
