yechan giggled into his hands as he waited for hongjoong to unwrap the gift he had picked for him. it wasn't much, but to his little seven year old mind it felt like the perfect gift for him. what yechan loved was that he didn't even have to go to the store and deal with overstimulating surroundings to get the gift! it was the perfect gift. his hands were restless, his tiny fingers nervously fidgeting with his shorts.
hongjoong's lips tugged into a wide smile when he saw the gift that sat inside the wrapper. it was a rock with a smiley face drawn on it, along with a slightly crushed up paper-card next to it that had 'happy birthday daddy' in wobbly handwriting which he recognized it to be yechan's. he couldn't help but laugh at the gift and pull his son into a tight hug. it was silly, yet so yechan of him to gift him something like that.
"like?" the little one asked, his eyes sparkling as he stared at his father, hongjoong nodding a yes at his question before peppering his face with kisses.
"yeosangie uncle gave in class, when we play game!! i know daddy like it," he said, giving hongjoong a toothy grin, one of his front teeth missing.
hongjoong was so proud of yechan, he could see his improvements that he had made in school, especially in his speech. he was speaking in full sentences, his hand writing had improved and hongjoong hears that he had started talking to more classmates. the male always started tearing up at the thought of yechan growing up-- because frankly, despite however difficult it was, he loved taking care of this little boy. he could go on and on about his son's silly antics, he was such an interesting character.
"i love it, baby."
"uncle sannie also like," yechan spoke proudly, satisfied with what he gifted his father for his birthday.
hongjoong's heart melted at his son talking about his school day to him, he loved hearing him talk with his sweet little voice; god he loved his son so much.
yechan gave hongjoong a slobbery kiss on his cheek and smiled widely, now jumping in his spot to wait for the male to stick the card on the fridge.

seonghwa knew it was hongjoong's birthday-- his twenty-sixth birthday to be specific. why did he even know all that information? all he wanted to do was wish him. send him gifts, shower him with love, and yet he couldn't do any of those.
he stared at the gift he'd bought for hongjoong that sat on his desk. it was nothing much, just a simple watch he thought the younger would like. it was idle on his table, it was there for around two days and seonghwa was not over anything. his heart hurt, and it ached as if thousand knives were being stabbed in them every single time he looked at hongjoong, because that man had done things to him that nobody else had done.
his heart wrenched at the thought of the younger male smiling, his eyes turning into crescent moons and the prominent yet smile lines on his face becoming visible. yechan's toothy grin resembled hongjoong's-- except the only difference was that he had a few missing teeth and hongjoong didn't. it was beautiful.
the male fidgeted with the corner of his white coat, a tear rolling down his cheeks as he blankly stared at the gift. seonghwa was going to give it to the male in the next therapy, hoping that he wouldn't reject it.
his eyes glistened with tears, and his heart dripped with hurt yet so much love for hongjoong-- despite him barely knowing anything about him.
