hongjoong knelt down and fixed his son's crumpled t-shirt as he whispered a few words for some confidence since he was always scared of new people.

"you're gonna be a good boy, okay? i know you will be, but daddy is just reminding you. it's okay if you want to sit on daddy's lap during the appointment, and it's okay if you feel uncomfortable with him, okay?"

"okay daddy, i be good boy!!" the little boy exclaimed as he jumped in his spot and clapped his two tiny hands together.

the male chuckled at the adorable behavior of his son. he was so proud of his son, more than he could ever imagine.

the pair sat down on the row of chairs, waiting for their name to be called. yechan was distracted by wiggling his legs in a specific pattern. meanwhile hongjoong was distracted by his two friends spamming him in the group chat as well as keeping an eye on his son. it was like an instinct to watch his son while doing other work since he was very capable of doing some mischief.

the atmosphere at the hospital was quiet on the friday evening. the pristine floor reflected the bright white lights. yechan was fascinated by the fact that he could see his face on the floor, tilting his head every now and then when he did see it while giggling.

"yechan kim?"

"yes! coming!" hongjoong replied as he got the attention of his son and held his hand to walk him there.

"okay baby, say good evening and don't be scared, daddy is here for you hm? you can hide behind me if you want."

the male led his son to a big door which led inside a room. hongjoong pushed against it with all his might before it opened and he let his son step inside first.

"goo' mornin'!!!" yechan squealed loudly when he saw the doctor as hongjoong's eyes practically popped out of its socket when he saw who was sitting on the big, spinning chair. the male greeted the little boy as he waddled to him with a huge smile.

hongjoong dramatically gasped.

"you!" the male said as he brisk walked over to the chair and pulled out one to sit his ass down on with a thud.

yechan giggled.

"yea! it's me!" seonghwa chuckled after exclaiming.

"you!!!" yechan screamed while giggling, flapping his hands up and down.

"please don't scream love, we're in a hospital," hongjoong said as he got up and picked his son up to keep him on his lap so that he wouldn't run around.

the doctor just smiled at the adorable child in front of him, he really loved working with them. yechan might have been a little difficult at first when he met him on the pavement, but he really felt happy when he heard the little one screaming with glee when he saw him.

"okay, let's get right into this shall we?" said the male as he reached out to get a pen from a pen holder that sat on his white desk.

yechan wiggled his legs and curiously looked around the room as his father held him down.

on the other hand, hongjoong was fucking mesmerized. he was sure the man who sat in front of him was not the same cute looking person he saw a few weeks back.

he wore a silk, navy-blue coloured buttoned up shirt along with a white blazer that rested on his shoulders. the male's black hair wasn't hanging down his face but instead slicked back with gel and a thin pair of glasses sat on his nose, not slipping off. damn was he one fine ass man.

seonghwa thought for a bit while playing with the cap of his pen and chewed on his lower lip as he read through yechan's old reports.

"so what we are looking at here is, an autism spectrum disorder along with some anxiety problems, am i right?"

"asd level two, yes." the redhead replied and yechan pinched his hand, trying to push it away to get out and run around to look at all the interesting paintings in seonghwa's consultation room.

"hey! it's not nice to pinch daddy like that, it hurts me!"

"sorry daddy!"

"you can let him go, it's okay, let him run around for a bit and get tired, he'll fall asleep sooner than you notice!" seonghwa suggested and hongjoong frowned.

"you sure? he can be pretty wild at times."

"i mean, who cares, let him be! he's just a baby!" the other said and the redhead immediately let his son go, yechan running around the place with full energy making car noises.

hongjoong sighed.

"good god i genuinely don't know how im able to take care of this little weirdo all alone,"

"yes! that's really good but we're getting kind of distracted here hm? so, what were you saying?"

"ah yes, yechan has level two autism spectrum disorder which he was diagnosed for four years ago when i took him to the doctor because he still hadn't developed speech." hongjoong spoke, looking at the desk the entire time because he couldn't make eye contact for more than ten seconds with anyone to save his life.

"he's also very hyperactive by what i can see, much more than a neurotypical developing child," seonghwa mentioned, closely observing yechan's behavior.

"definitely! sometimes at home he's very energetic and does a bunch of crazy stuff, i never knew kids could even do whatever he did!"

seonghwa laughed at how the younger described things and spoke about everything in a dramatic manner.

"so, why did you come here in the first place? not trying to be rude or anything but doctor jihyo's secretary told me it was a urgent hence fixed an appointment with me."

hongjoong sighed and hung his head low as he fliddled with his fingers

"i'm really worried about his education. currently he goes to a normal school since i am not in a position to afford a special needs school. around him, everyone is neurotypical; they don't understand him and he doesn't understand them. almost every alternate day he is sent back home for apparent 'bad behavior,' which is basically him having a meltdown and them not knowing how to handle it.

i was wondering why that was happening and then he opened up to me about being made fun of and being bullied because hes autistic and his language level is still very low. he cries because those emotions are overwhelming but the teachers don't understand why he's crying because he can't explain it, im sure you experienced that. but yea, that's just the reason why im here, i want to know what to do about his education journey since i know he's a really smart and capable boy."

seonghwa kept nodding and noting something down in his book, swirling his pen every now and then.

the male looked at hongjoong with a reassuring smile.

"well, now this is a journey that we will be taking on for the next couple of months or years per se; it will all be okay. i can assure you everything will be fine with your little baby and he will be alright. don't worry about his education, we will sort it out."

the other felt safe knowing his son was in good hands

"how was he as a baby? how did he behave?"

"hmm, it was quite traumatic for him," hongjoong said as he looked back at his son and pouted a bit.

"why so?"

"do i say everything?"

"if you are comfortable with it, go ahead! i would need all possible information to diagnose him with anything. and i'm not gonna be diagnosing him with anything in this session itself since it's our first one, but i would after a few months of therapy."

hongjoong felt safe knowing that everything was in good hands and that it would all go well. though he decided against telling the doctor everything immediately, he thought it would be best if seonghwa brought it out of yechan himself since there were some parts of the story that even hongjoong wasn't even aware of.
