hongjoong screamed as san threw a handful of flour at his face. it was closing time, around eleven at night and yechan was asleep on one of the chairs in the kitchen, tired after a long play session in the park with san and hongjoong. they were cleaning up the kitchen, waiting for the owner of the restaurant to arrive. he was a tall man with a deep voice who all the employees were petrified of-- even though he was a big softie.

they were waiting for the male to arrive so that they could close the restaurant together for the night but instead of a deep baritone voice, they heard a different one.

"hello? is anyone there? is this restaurant still open?" a sweet, honey-like voice called out from outside.

the pair panicked and shuffled around when they heard the unfamiliar person, san rubbing the flour off his face with his apron as he yelled 'yes, we're open!' through the kitchen. hongjoong on the other hand washed his hands quickly and slipped on a pair of gloves, preparing to make some food. they were always told by mingi to entertain to customers even it it was a little late, you never knew what they were going through and what they needed.

san ran out to the counter quickly, flour lingering on his pink hair and some on his cheeks along with a lot of flour on his poor apron.

"how may i help you sir?" san frantically asked as he stood behind the counter, staring at the ethereal man in front of him, a friendly smile spread across his lips. most of the lights in the restaurant were off except a few chandeliers that were lit above some of the tables.

the customer tried not to crack a smile at the handsome male behind the counter.

"what do you have available?"

"everything is available, except for the soups and steaks. and pastas," san said as he scrolled through the menu on the tablet in front of him.

"okay, i'd like a grilled cheese and a milkshake."

"flavour?"

"ah yes, chocolate milk shake."

"okay, anything else sir?" san asked, blinking at the man in front of him. he was beautiful. his attire was simple and from what he wore he seemed much older than san. he wore dark blue scrubs along with an id card that hung around his neck and massive shoes.

"nope, that's all, thank you."

"right, that would be a total of eight dollars and fifty cents. how would you like to pay; cash or card?"

once the male paid, he was given an estimated time of how long it would take to bring his order. soon san scurried into the kitchen with the order of the food that had to be made along with a cheeky grin.

"what happened? why are you smiling like an idiot?" hongjoong asked as he held down a weight on the grilled cheese sandwich.

"nothing."

"liar. tell me, what happened?"

san aggressively nodded head while he chopped up some pieces of chocolate to add to the milkshake.

"is the customer some girl you think is cute?" he asked again

"no! shut up. why do you even wanna know?"

"you're smiling like you just saw the love of your life, that's why."

"whatever. don't ask me, im going and giving the customer his order," san rolled his eyes as he snatched the beautifully decorated plate out of hongjoong's hand and walked out of the kitchen, which made the male give san a side eye from where was standing.

hongjoong washed his hands and removed his gloves as he felt a tiny tug on his apron.

"hi baby, did you sleep well?" he said before he hoisted the little one on his hip, placing a soft kiss on his cheek. yechan smiled at his father after giving him a sloppy kiss on his nose.

"are you excited to meet uncle yuyu tomorrow?" hongjoong as he gently caressed his chubby cheeks and yechan nodded, blinking like a little cat.

hongjoong always wondered how he was a part of creating such an adorable human being, he just always wanted to squish yechan but resisted the urge to do so. oh did he love him much more than the little one could understand.
