To be honest, I get sooooo many in a day and I end up deleting some of them (the rude ones) because they're almost like SPAM to me. So if you're rude and don't know the magic word.... In the dumpster you go!

I appreciate your reading request but I already have a lot in my bag, thank you very much. Besides, it's nice discovering a story I want, you know. The least I can do is to offer you a friendly advice.

Seriously, what is up with advertising in stories?? I know this is old news, but man, it still drives me up the wall whenever I come across reading requests in one of my stories or when I see it on some of the really popular authors' pages. It just shows how desperate they really are to get noticed.

Please, for the love of macaroni - stop piggybacking on other people's fame.

"Cool story. Read mine?"

"You're an awesome, amazing, blah blah blah writer. I would really appreciate if you checked out my story called Twilight meets Harry Potter..."

Oh. my. Goodness.

Puh-lease. A one line comment and a vote on the beginning of my story will not make me read your story.

Always remember, you're not going anywhere with what you're doing right now.

How about... Joining some clubs? That's how I started and you should take this step, too, just like everyone else. You need to post under share your story threads. Trust me, people will discover you through time and patience. And with hard work and determination, you will get to that point of happiness and satisfaction.

Just... stop being desperate.

And one more thing. If you dedicate a story to me, then thank you so much! But please don't bug me to read the whole novel, especially when it's already on chapter freakin' 30. :/ So to show my appreciation, I would read that chapter alone and give it a vote, even if it's a 1D fan fic.
