"It is compassion that sustains the world's existence.
The existence of those bereft of it is a burden to the Earth."

In this era of social media, getting to know people has all become mostly virtual. If you spend a few minutes on a platform like Instagram, the posts from the people you follow seems to act as a window to their life.
All of us follow people who belong to the following categories:
1. Personal - Friends/Family we actually know
2.Mutual- Friends of friends/family
3.Similar- People with similar interests like cult followers( who share the same taste of books, authors, music, shows, hobbies, fandom etc)
4.Celebrities- People whom we see everyday on some screen or the other and think we know them but actually don't know anything about.
5.Hate-Love: People whom we love to hate; we follow them just to know their life updates and gossip about.
6.Suggestions- Suggested by friends/family since they feel this profile added useful to their life.
I have come to realize that the way people impact a follower, no matter which category they belong to, is very different from the intention of their posts.
I am choosing category4 to talk about in this post:
Recently we lost Mr. Chadwick Boseman to Colon Cancer. Amidst all the sad posts and tributes, I happened to read something that disturbed me a lot.
Apparently he had started to lose a lot of weight and was trolled, bullied, called names for that. But in reality, he had been fighting cancer and slowly dying. Now, when the news about his death broke, I cant imagine what those trolls and bullies would have felt like.
This has become a day-to-day for most of us, judging people based on their virtual presence and posts- we call them ugly, fake, egoistic, offensive, rude,a loser and soooo many other things when we dont know what is actually happening in their lives.
As the kural mentioned above says, being compassionate and kind is one of the most humane virtues; if we dont possess that, we are just extra mass on earth!
Lets realize people are fighting their own battles. Lets learn to be compassionate and kind towards one another. If we ever have time to judge and hate others, lets try to use that time to spread love or improve our own lives instead.
Rest in peace Mr. Boseman!
