Act 40; You're looking better today!
She pulled away as soon as she could, her eyes wide. "I'm sorry, Y-Yamaguchi-san." Ren avoided all sort of eye contact, clenching her fists as tight as she could, her nails digging into her own palms. "I'm so sorry... I-I don't know..." She kept her head low, sitting in place.
Yamaguchi slanted his eyebrows, and also sat there motionless. What did he do? How did he do it? He really couldn't take his eyes off of her. "What are you saying," the male gave a smile that covered his hurt, "I should be sorry."
She didn't say a word. It's not like she didn't want to, but she was confused. He just helped her. He just stayed with her. He just kissed her.
"W-well then," Yamaguchi slowly picked up the sharp metal object. "Hopefully we'll see you tomorrow," he then stood up and grabbed his bag. "Everyone misses you, Yoshida-san." Nothing came from the other 15 year old. The seaweed green haired male's voice lingered with hesitation, "including me."
Ren looked up with little strength and watched as he walked out the door, closing it. "I'm sorry..."
"I'm so, so sorry, Yamaguchi-san," she brushed her fingers over her lips, "I'm so sorry I don't feel the same way."
She then grabbed her phone after hearing it vibrated a couple of times. All she wanted to do was sleep. Then, now. It didn't matter for how long. A message.
Yams~ ;w;
Take care.

"I'm sorry... I messed up," Ren ran her fingers through her hair. I shouldn't be so stupid. She didn't reply, but she called up someone she should've talked to a while ago. Maybe Yamaguchi wouldn't have to bother himself that way. Why did he kiss me?
Could he possibly..? She shook her head back and forth a couple of times, he probably just did that to cheer me up... Ren smiled, why else would he kiss me? The phone still rang, and she put it on speaker. I guess it did take my mind off of a few things. "Please pick up, Oikawa-kun."
"Hello?" She took a deep breath and exhaled it out never the less. "It's Yoshida."
"Yoshi-chan?" The male asked once more, making sure she was who she said she was. He hasn't talked to her since that time they all went to the café. He hasn't realized how much he missed it. "It's rare for you to call me this late."
"Yeah..." Ren's tone softened, as she dropped her head low. "What seems to be the matter? You seem like you're troubled."
"I am, actually," she admitted, knowing that he would be bothered. Oikawa said he would listen. He said he would help. "Do tell." A little hesitant, the first year recalled on what happened.
"The guy I like," she knew she was being ridiculous. "He asked my best friend on a date." Oikawa stayed quiet on the other line. He needed some time to react. "Don't worry," he felt terrible, saying something with such relief.
Why did something lift off of him? Like he felt like he was alright? "Are you sure it's a date?" Why was he doing this to himself..? "I mean, do they have a reason?"
"A reason..?" Ren's eyebrows met, "I don't understand." The captain of Seijoh sighed. "Do you know why?" There was a slight pause, "because he l-likes her..?"
"Not that," she could hear him face palm from her side, "push aside that question.
"Is it alright if I ask you another one?"
"... Go ahead."
"Do you still like him?" Ren's eyes widened, and she buried herself deeper into her own knees. "I think so...-"
"Well you shouldn't!" His tone rose, a little anger added into that. "He's dumb if he doesn't like someone as great as you- let alone realize and appreciate your feelings towards him." Ren stopped crying, and she didn't think. She calmed down, "Oikawa-kun..."
The girl could hear his slight chuckle and his voice softened with that. "I told you you could rely on me." Ren grinned, and brought the phone close to her ear with both hands. "I guess I can..."
"Did you not before? How rude!" That set it off. Ren bursted into laughter, making all the stress disappear. She wanted to do that for a long time. To have a good laugh.
Oikawa suddenly paused. When did her voice sound so... soothing? Was it always like this?
"What the hell? That's called liking someone! How could you possibly give advice without knowing what the hell it is for?"
The captain of Seijoh then closed his eyes, remembering words of 'wisdom'. No, really. "So this is what it's like to have a crush on someone, huh?" He spoke out, making Ren on the other line wipe a tear. "What was that, Oikawa-kun? Did you say something-"
"No, no, no!" His face red with embarrassment, "I didn't say anything." Ren raised an eyebrow, but smiles largely nonetheless. "Thank you," she spoke out, relief lingering in her sweet voice. "I needed that."
Oikawa felt a slight beat erupt within his chest, "n-no problem!
"I also said that I'd be happy to date you any day, Yoshida-cha-"
"Passing~" She stood up and dusted herself off. The male's eye twitched, and he pouted, "alright..."
"You're not going to pester on the topic?"
"Why should I? I already got what I wanted." He breathes, running his long fingers through his milk chocolate coloured hair. "And what is that?" She rolls her eyes, looking in the direction she's holding her phone. "To hear you laugh. I haven't heard that in a long time."
Ren stopped in her track, her expression shocked, "what..?"
"It's nothing, really," Oikawa realized that he just said something supremely corny. "I mean, I miss you sooooo much! How about we go on another date?" Ren cringed, "what do you mean another date?? I didn't even go on one with you in the first place!" She scrunched up her nose, "hell no, Oikawa Tooru. I don't plan on seeing you soon!" He sighed out of relief, like something got lifted off his chest.
Good thing he covered himself, otherwise he would've definitely given her a hint. "Oikawa-kun?"
"Ah, yes? Actually, I think I have to go. Goodbye, Yoshi-chan!!"
-Call Disconnected-
Ren then plopped down on her bed, and Oikawa threw his phone on top of his study desk. The captain placed his hands over his face, his cheeks heating up slightly. So this is what it is to give advice when you're in love. The setter looked towards his device shortly before messing his hair up. "You shouldn't think such things, Tooru!"
He then flopped onto his bed, motionless. Oikawa's face turned red, and he took a deep breath, "I can't possibly be in love... Not again."
Ren stretched her arms, and yawned. Yamaguchi-san, her eyes softened and she slanted her eye brows. "I can't be stupid... Not after what Yamaguchi-san did for me."
"He cares, Ren. Everyone cares."
"And just like Trashikawa said," her eyelids getting heavy, and her voice drifted into a monotonous one. "I should probably get over that beanpole."
--
"Ah, Yoshi-su!" Hiyori hopped over, followed by a taller female who had been also known as Sayaka. Ren turned her head to see the two. "You're looking better today!"
"Is that so?" Ren smiled, placing her History books on top of her desk. "I'd say the same. Your hair is neater than it usually is," the dark brown haired female pointed towards the ponytail that had been cleanly tied behind the girls head. Ren smiled sweetly, "yeah, I feel much better today. I was just having terrible mood swings here and there..."
"Oh," Hiyori grinned, "that's what it was." The tallest of the trio had her ears perk up, "what did you think it was?" Stupid, did you have to ask that? Ren mentally face palmed, concern written all over her face. The short female placed her hands behind her back, biting her lower lip gently.
Sayaka rolled her eyes, "should I say it, or would you do the honor, Hiyori?"
"I got it!" She pouted, making eye contact with Ren. "I thought... I thought you hated me." It seemed like the words went through Ren's right ear and out the left. "Eh?"
"Yoshi-su started to avoid the both of us, and then started to exclude Yama-su and Tsukki-su... So I," she stomped her foot slightly, "I thought you hated me..." The 15 year old started to chuckle, and she missed that. They missed that. "Wh-what's so funny?"
"It's nothing," Ren stood up and gave a warm hearted expression. "It's could never hate you guys." Hiyori sniffed, placing her hand over her heart, "YOSHI-SU, YOU'RE SO SWEET!" She then pulled Ren into a big hug, making Sayaka cringe. "Come on, Saya-su! Don't feel left out."
"As if-" before she could finish, Hiyori embraced her anyways. Sayaka's hands twitched, but she placed them over the other two nevertheless. Ren couldn't help but hug back. She couldn't ask for more. So why did she feel like she wasn't enough..?
As soon as they let go of eachother, Sayaka sighed. "I think you will hate Hiyori after you hear how she flunked up her so called 'date'."
"H-hey, wait a second!!" The brunette yelled, trying to shut the snitch up. She flunked up her date with Tsukishima-kun..? Ren didn't say a thing. Instead, she listened to Sayaka tell her the story.
"So apparently it wasn't a date at all," the female smirked, "Tsukishima was just assigned by Captain-san to get the details on our matches tomorrow. The Inter-high preliminaries."
"Mou! You don't understand how disappointed I was," Hiyori crossed her arms like a child, "we were sitting so peacefully, and then he called my name." She slapped her cheeks, "he says my name so perfectly~"
"Hiyori?"
"Kyaaaa!! Exactly like that!!" She squealed to Sayaka's impression. "Anyways, it was going so well, and I thought he was going to confess his undying love for me-" Ren coughed, her face red from the mental image. "S-sorry."
"Don't mind it," Hiyori gave a thumbs up. "But then he just asked her about the preliminaries, made her pay for their drinks, and walked out like that." The most mature of the bunch said in Hiyori's stead. "Exactly! I mean, I love him and all, but can't he take a hint?" That was it.
That made Ren laugh. She held her stomach, and she couldn't stop. This made Hiyori and Sayaka join in. They laughed as well. Everyone turned their heads, but they just continued.
As soon as they stopped, the youngest of them wiped a tear. "That was great."
"Right?" The shortest agreed, catching her breath. Sayaka smiled, patting both of their heads. Tsukishima's eyes were opened wide. Is she possibly better now?
"Is there something wrong, Tsukki?" A familiar male asked, before the blonde shook his head. Yamaguchi as well, couldn't take his eyes off of the girl. She was feeling better and back to normal. No, maybe even better than before.
"Thank you, Yamaguchi."
"Eh..?" The shorter male couldn't believe it. "You're thanking me?"
"No. I'm thanking your shadow." Tsukishima clicked his tongue, "you did something to cheer the idiot up." Yamaguchi's expression saddened, "I really didn't do much."
"It's enough," The tall male gave a slight smile when no one had been looking. The seaweed green haired first year looked up at his friend. No way, Yamaguchi chuckled in disbelief. Tsukki can't possibly like Yoshida-san as well... He brushed it off, that's impossible, Tadashi.
Ren then made slight eye contact with the blonde haired middle blocker. He looked away as soon as he could, and so did she. A slight blush covered her face. Sorry, Oikawa-kun... I may just still like him.
