Act 32; Don't say sorry and then insult me!

Saturday came, sooner than anyone had expected, actually. Especially for Ren; someone who had been stupid enough to go against someone else's words. Did she think it would make her look tougher? Cooler even? That was something even she couldn't answer.

Wearing a long, buttoned up, black shirt and black tights, she felt it was too... what was the word? Plain. "If Hiyori was dressing me up, how would I look..?"

No, no, Ren- pull yourself together! This isn't anything special, so just wear anything.

She brushed off her anxiety, and pulled on her long boots until they reached her knees. Her hair fell on top of the right side of her face, causing her to tie it back into a neat ponytail.

How rare.

Daichi had told her to meet him at the school gates, most probably since it would be too awkward to ask for her address. She sighed, unplugging her phone from the charger. How could she be so dumb..?

--

"Hello?"

"A-ah, good evening, O-Oikawa-kun..."

"Yoshi-chan, see? I knew you would call me!" Ren rubbed the nape of her neck nervously, "y-yeah..."

"So, so, what is it you may need? Or did you just call because you wanted to hear my lovely voice?" She sighed, "I-I have a question... I kind of need some advice..."

"Go on, what is it?"

"S-so you don't mind if I ask for some l-love advice?"

There was a slight pause, "I don't mind; go ahead."

"I was dared by this guy I like into going on a date wi-"

"Hold on, a date? You?" He said a little frantically, "g-go on..."

"I have to go out with this other dude- and I don't know if I should act casual or what should I do?" Oikawa placed his palm on his chin, continuing to read up on his greatest rival, "so you are now going on a date with someone you don't even like by the person you have a crush on?" Ren nodded while slowly speaking out, "yeah."

The male on the other line felt something weird. Why was he expecting this? Even if he was, he couldn't help but feel surprised. 'Great, now I'm an even further step away from getting her to like me', he sighed. "What's wrong, Oikawa-kun? Do you not have any advice? Strange... Since you were so popular, I had assumed that you had experience-"

"I do, I do, Yoshi-chan! Don't get the wrong idea!"

"Then..?" She was timid to get some answers, and knew that a specific raven haired setter hadn't had the slightest clue on these types of situations. Plus, she knew he would surely call her stupid. "First off, you have to make it look like you are enjoying the date- that will really get on his nerves."

"Hold up- what makes you think he will be watching..?"

"Isn't it obvious? He dared you, so he will most likely make sure."

"So I have to enjoy myself, basically?"

"Yeah, just play hard to get," Oikawa then chuckled, "guys dig that."

"E-eh? There's no way I can pull that off..."

"Sure you can. You did it with me." There was a pause, and her expression had turned to stone. "That's because I despise you."

"Cruel, cruel, cruel! How cruel of you to say such words!" He puffed out his cheeks and crossed his arms, spinning around in his wheeled chair. "I-I'm sorry to say, but it's true!"

"Don't say sorry  and then insult me!"

"I'm very sorry, Oikawa-kun! Don't be insulted- My words are useless, I'm the only trash here!"

"D-don't insult yourself either," he cleared his throat, "on a different note, may I ask who this person is?"

"Which one? I'm going on a date with Daichi-san." Oikawa then ran his fingers through his hair, "interesting, Captain-san is taking you on a date."

"Yeah."

"So who is the one who dared you?"

She sheepishly played with her hair, laying herself down on her bed and throwing her basketball in the air constantly. "I'd rather not say... It's not like I don't trust you or anything! I just promised myself that I would only tell one person." He didn't want to pester too much on asking her, so he just brushed it aside."Oh, really? But the person is a jerk if they made you use your first date up like that! If they ever turn you down or if you're feeling bad, I'm always here~" Ren had blood rush to her cheeks, "a-anyways, thank you, Oikawa-kun. Maybe I have been thinking too lowly of you."

"Aw, what's this? Is Yoshi-chan getting flustered?"

"N-no; Just hang up before I change my perspective of you, Tr-Trashikawa!"

"Mean, how mean! You will get along with Iwa-chan quite well!"

"Alright, alright, I'm sorry. I need to go, it's getting quite late. Take care of yourself, okay?"

Typical Ren, she always has to make it seem like she is friends with someone at first glance. "Yeah, alright. Take care as well, Yoshi-chan-"

-Call Disconnected-

He then exhaled, staring back at the screen.

--

Ren commenced and left the building; the school shouldn't be too far. But as much as she knew that, she wanted to walk forever on, and never reach. She had to be on time though, otherwise it wouldn't seem like she was excited to see her 'date'. She shivered at the thought, and it made her heart drop a little bit.

How could she truly act like she was going to enjoy this? It seemed pretty awkward for her to do so. According to both the setters' advice, she had to first get him to like her, then play hard to get? That surely confused her.

--

Tsukishima and Yamaguchi walked both side by side. On one hand, Tsukishima wanted to make sure she was actually with her date, along with wanting to see her make a few mistakes to rub it in her face. He would never admit to something like that though. Yamaguchi, on the other hand, tagged along, hoping everything was alright. But that wasn't the case at all...

He just wanted the exact opposite, but he could never truly admit his feelings aloud, otherwise, people would hear for sure. Yamaguchi had liked her, and he was brave enough to at least admit that to himself. Maybe their date could flunk up. No, he couldn't hope for that. Then, Ren would have to become his friend's slave for a week.

There was honestly no way he could have her to himself. What about Kageyama? He had been awfully close with her lately, so how could he do that too? Not to mention, she is in this mess because of a bet she wanted to make for him. So what was the problem here?

He knew she just pitied him.

"Tsukki..? Explain why we are going again?" He turned to face the shorter figure, "what was that? I came here because you wanted to go."

"That's not it... I came because you wanted to go."

They both stopped entirely in their tracks, thinking the exact same thing. They never really told each other they were going to watch Ren and Daichi. They just happened to meet in their everyday spot and continued on from there. "I obviously wanted to go for the reason of entertainment. It's not like I had anything better to do today." Yamaguchi nodded and agreed to Tsukishima's excuse almost immediately.

When they reached the school they took cover behind a bush, peeking out to see Karasuno's Volleyball captain standing there in very formal dressing. "Whoa, Daichi-san seems so... gentlemen like." The freckled first year said in astonishment. "He does, doesn't he?" A voice came from behind them, and it wasn't Tsukishima's.

"Sugawara-san, what are you doing here?" He commented again, before he glanced at what he was wearing, "and why are you in disguise?" Suga crouched down, along with another person who was also wearing sun glasses. But it was a female and if the shades weren't enough, he didn't know what to say about the fake mustache. "I came to see how Daichi is doing," he stated in a very calm and gentle voice.

They had to lay low; otherwise they will certainly catch them. Tsukishima raised an eyebrow and looked towards the feminine figure who wore a very huge, gray sweater. "I-IcametocheckonSawamuraaswell!"

"Shh, Yui, you'll blow our cover." She chuckled quietly, "hehe, sorry."

"So, why are you two here?" The platinum blonde asked, getting a reply almost as soon as his question was thrown. "I need to make sure she is actually on her date." "I'm making sure Yoshida-san is alright."

The two responds were clashed, and they looked at each other quite confused. Sugawara laughed sweetly, "so you were the one who dared Yoshida." Tsukishima took a quick nod. Yui had hatred burn into her usual kind eyes and she covered it up with a grin. Yamaguchi took notice of the aura and leaned back.

--

"But Kageyama, I'm sure I heard someone come from over there!" Hinata whispered in an almost shouting manner, both hiding from their captain who had come early. "Shut up, dumbass. Because of you, we may be caught," the setter had his eyebrows meet, as he crawled over in the opposite direction of his friend, beckoning him to follow. The ginger then squint his eyes, trying to keep up with Kageyama, "but I'm telling you, someone else is here, Bakageyama."

"Yeah, right-"Just before Kageyama could deny Hinata's theory in any sort of way, they saw a few figures talking in the distance. "See, you should trust me more."

"Whatever." He rolled his eyes and encountered the four other figures, "what are you guys doing here?" Sugawara snapped his head around, "oh, it's only Kageyama and Hinata. What brings you guys here on this wonderful day?"

"We asked you that first, Sugawara-san." Hinata cheerfully grinned, sitting back and looking through the bushes to see Daichi taking a look at the watch on his right hand. "Coming to think of it, isn't it past their original meeting time?" Sugawara gazes up at the sky, "coming to think of it, it is a little past 2 pm, isn't it?" Tsukishima sighs, great. Even here I have to be with this slovenly bunch, don't I?

"So why are you here, Hinata, Kageyama?" Yamaguchi asks, quite curious. "Actually, Hiyori-san and Sayaka-san asked us to come since they were busy with their bakery or something like that." Kageyama agrees with Hinata's reasoning. Yui tilted her head, "you guys know Chiyu and Miya? That's odd..."

"Why is that odd?" Sugawara inquired, as the female took hold of her own chin, staring at Daichi. "Well, because knowing Miya, she really can't talk to someone she likes." She yawns, before noticing what she had just said and then she covered her own mouth, "f-forget I said anything!" The first years all looked at each other, most likely thinking about the same thing, damn, now I'm really curious...

Just then, they saw a familiar figure run to the male, panting and hands on her knees. From the looks of it, she was pretty embarrassed, and handed Daichi a box of chocolate. It was a little present for actually being kind enough for him to go on a date on such a short notice. After that, they started to walk off. "Shh-shh, guys. They are already leaving!" Sugawara pointed out, before they continued to follow them.

--

"S-so, where should we go first?" Ren stuttered, due to the awkwardness of the walk. Daichi smiled pretty shyly as well, and it made the girl smile since she has never seen this side of the captain. "I-I was thinking we could go to a cafe maybe? I don't know, it's really up to you..."

"A cafe is alright! I don't mind, anywhere is honestly fine with me." The fifteen year old spotted a familiar building up ahead, and she sighed relieved. "Geez, Daichi-san is so cool."

...I said that out loud...

Daichi chuckled, and patted her back, "thank you, Yoshida. You know, I'm kind of glad you were joking about the confession earlier too." She looked up at him with a flustered face, "y-yeah..."

"Not because I don't like you or anything. It's just because I am in my third year, and you're a first year... It couldn't work out, you know?" Ren then started to giggle, "I'm glad you're so considerate, Daichi-san. I just hope I'm not distracting you from the Inter-high preliminaries."

"No, no, don't worry. It's nice to get my mind off of the preliminaries with something like this." Yui clenched her teeth and cracked her knuckles, you can't be serious; he is totally enjoying the date!!

"Is there something wrong, Yui? You seem more and more on edge by the second."

"I bet she wants to play volleyball!!" Hinata gave an ear to ear smile that could blind, before Kageyama smacked his head, "are you an idiot? She is probably hungry. I say when they go to the cafe we order some pork curry." Everyone gave a dead panned expression. "Kageyama, they don't serve curry there."

"The King and shrimp are talented, but their stupidity levels are beyond scale. Are they morons?"

"I'm with idiots..."

"That's not quite it, Shoyou, Tobio..."
