Act 31; But I don't like him...

It's so accurate; it hurts me.

Sugawara then looked over in the girls' direction, indication for her to speak. "Y-yeah... Sorry, Daichi-san, Suga-san...." Ren sheepishly stated, ignoring the crowd that gathered behind them. The female captain gave a big sigh, "goodness, don't scare me like that..."

If Ren had sincerely confessed her feelings to him, would he had said yes? Not to mention, the only reason why he turned her down so quickly is because she is in her first year. Daichi, on the other hand, is graduating. There was no way he would-

"What was that, Yui?" Her face turned a bright red colour, and she gave out a few nervous chuckles. "Anyways, you shouldn't go around betting things, Yoshida. Especially something like this."

"Yeah, for all you know, terrible rumours can spread," the platinum blonde agreed to what his friend had said. Ren breathed, and smiled, "I'm glad you both understand, I'll be on my way then."

Great, just great...

Ren picked up her pace; I'm going to have to face that jerk. Goodbye my condolences.

"Wait, Yoshida." Sugawara grabbed her hand, "geez... You shouldn't walk off like that. We weren't done." It took a while to comprehend the situation, but she couldn't stop thinking about the horrible situations that could arise from her not getting a.... date. Thinking of that word made her cringe, and she turned back around to face her higher-ups. "Y-yeah..?"

Suga then eyed over at her to Daichi, and the captain then rubbed his neck nervously. "You shouldn't do stupid things like that, Yoshida. One day, someone may take you seriously."

"Like how you did?" The second male chuckled, making Daichi a little uncomfortable. He sighed, "fine, I'll go with you... b-but only once. Next time you do something as inappropriate as that, you'll get in some trouble, alright?" The girl's eyes glittered with delight, "really, thank you, Daichi-san!" She then grinned idiotically.

Take that, Trashishima!

Yui's jaw dropped, and her eyes widened. "Is something wrong?" The setter asked her, before she snapped out of her thoughts and gave a small smile. "O-of course not," she walked towards Daichi and smacked him hard on the back, "good going; make sure to treat her well!" I am so taking down notes after.

--

"Suga-san, how did you know it was a dare?" Ren asked; a little curiosity lingered in her tone. He then continued to walk her to class, recalling the event. "When I was eating lunch in my class, Asahi ran in all nervous and asked me for help. At first I called him a coward, and then decided to go to you to apologize." The platinum blonde then gave a huge exhale of breath, "and then I found you confessing to Daichi; so I knew something was up."

Ren tilted her head, and they walked through different hallways and different people. "Why, does no one confess to Daichi-san? Strange, I assumed he'd be getting a lot of confessions. After all, he's very prett-" The prodigy slapped her hands onto her mouth. Even if they were alone, she couldn't give her saviour the wrong idea. She likes someone else for goodness' sake.

Her face turned a furious red, and she stared at the ground sheepishly. Sugawara started to laugh, and he gave a grin after it died down, "I'm not surprised- he is handsome, along with a great leader and friend as well." He then placed his hand on his chin, "but you are right. You're really the first to confess; I wonder why he doesn't have more fans..." Ren looked up to the figure a little more shocked than usual. "Is there something on my face? What's on your mind?"

"N-no, nothing is, Suga-san, you're perfect-!"

"..." Her eyes widened as she stopped right there. I said that out loud, didn't I? He then smiled brightly, and placed his hand on her head, messing up her hair ultimately. "See you later, Yoshida. Take care of the first years."

With that, he took off, leaving Ren all flustered and dumbfounded. She then looked around her, "wah, I'm already here!" Running into class, she realized she wasn't late at all. Relieved, she wandered in all confidently, but ended up hitting something, or rather someone in the process. "Yoshi-su, I haven't seen you all day," Hiyori chirped, much to Ren's fortune.

I'd be done if she figured out about our bet-

"Yama-su told me you were in the third years' section."

"H-he did? Aw, darn..." She snapped her fingers, pretending, "I-I was talking to Sugawara-san about a surprise in practice toda-"

"Tsukishima said you were confessing or something like that." Sayaka hopped into the conversation, ruining the feel.

Damn it.

"Oh, is this Kageyama in his third year?"

"Eh..?" Ren backed away from the two girls, and beckoned on the bell to ring. "Kageyama... we are just friends."

"My, what a fun sponge," Hiyori crossed her arms, "couldn't kill you to actually tell us."

"But I don't like him..." Ren's eyebrows met, and she gave a rigid pout. "Mhm, sure you don't," Sayaka stated sarcastically. "So who did you confess to, then?" Ren's face turned a slight tint of pink, "well... let's say I lost a bet, and have to go on a date with one of the third years-"

Before she could finish, both Sayaka and Hiyori closed in on her. The shorter of the two squealed and made Ren wonder why the class didn't care. "No way! The third years are so good looking and mature and amazing- they couldn't have said yes!" It kind of hurt Ren, and so she sweat dropped. Sayaka seemed so interested, it was kind of scary.

"A-actually... I have an outing with Daichi-san..." Hiyori gasped, "you lucky girl; you have a date with the captain of the Volleyball club?!" Ren backed away, trying to escape the two delusional first years. "He's so dreamy and handsome- I didn't know you were his type!" She dramatically acted, falling onto the ground.

Sayaka tried to help her up, but they were just too dazed. Ren felt another blush creep onto her face, "guys...-"

"What's this? You actually managed to get a date?" A voice snickered, making Ren's nose scrunch up. Yamaguchi's face fell and he had felt a pang on hurt hit his chest. He didn't know why, but he had wanted Ren to lose the bet. Because maybe then he could go out with her; just the two of them...

No, no- he couldn't think that way! Was he possibly... jealous..?

"Yeah, I did."

"Who agreed? My, I hope you didn't cry your way into getting what you wanted."

"Eh, who said I did?"

"So you didn't?"

"I never said I didn't."

"So you admitted that you cried? How pathetic." Hiyori, Sayaka and Yamaguchi stood there blankly as they heard the most useless fight of their life. To their fortune, the bell rang, and their social teacher entered the room. "Tch," Tsukishima clicked his tongue like always. "H-hey, don't click your tongue! I'll do that," Ren scoffed, "tch, tch, tch."

Hiyori squinted her eyes, idiots. I'm surrounded by idiots. She then pushed them towards their desks, "quiet down, will you guys? Otherwise Sensei will scold us." Ren sighed, "fine." Tsukishima sat down and looked out the window all childishly. Yamaguchi grabbed his notes and sat down, ready for his class.

--

She put her chin her palm, and sighed.

Stupid Tsukishima-kun.

Ren thought, not noticing that she was staring at him this whole time. It kind of made him uncomfortable, and he tried to ignore it the best that he could. The girl then jolted up, looking at the board suddenly. Stupidshima!

Tsukishima sneezed, making Yamaguchi look back at him out of worry. Ren's best friend, the bell, then gave way and dismissed students from class. The tall blonde male encountered the girl sitting at her desk and crossed his arms. "By all means, I know you find me attractive. But staring at me in class is quite distracting." Ren's eyebrows met, "eh? How cute of you to actually pay attention to what I was doing in class."

She then started to applaud, clapping her hands together in a quick moment, "I'd rate your thoughtfulness an eight out of ten." Saying that pissed Tsukishima off. Ren couldn't say that she implied it just to anger him, but she couldn't say she did it on purpose either. Yamaguchi sighed, not again... He noticed how much she had been influenced by the beanpole's existence.

"It's normal to notice if someone is practically staring you down. I'm flattered, Yoshida." The first year got up from her desk, "I, at least, don't think I was staring at someone as despicable as you."

"I don't need to prove anything. In fact, I know that you were looking at me in class."

"Why is it such a big deal? I mean, sure, it's weird if I were looking at you- hey, maybe I wanted to ask you to help me in science again!"

"Tch, even if you wanted my help; what makes you think I would?" Tsukishima sighed, and he was getting tired with this conversation. Along with Yamaguchi, but who knew? He never really spoke, so really. "Yeah, yeah... I know you would say that," Ren picked up her bag, "so let's just get to practice, alright?" The freckled of the three smiled, "osu."

--

After the youngest of the team got ready, she walked into the gym to see everyone practicing their spikes. "Nice one!" They all complimented each other, not caring whose was better or not. "Asahi-san is doing well with his spikes... Along with Tanaka-senpai and Hinata..." She quietly mumbled to herself, taking a step inside the gym and placing her feet into her white and blue volleyball shoes.

Ren greeted the coach, and the adviser. "Coach Ukai-kun, you seem focused on something." The male sighed, "yeah, I made a play. But I am unsure if it'll work out." The female looked at the court board her had in his hands, "may I see it?"

"S-sure," he handed her the object. "I see... It requires a series of different types of attacks, am I incorrect?"

"No, you're exactly right." Ukai sighed, as he closely inspected the three wing spikers. "Wouldn't Asahi-san be capable of doing it? I'm sorry if I'm overstepping my boundaries, but he seems like the type that could hit from the far end of the court and still break through an iron wall." The coach's eyes opened slightly more than before, "say that again."

"Asahi-san seems like the type to be able to break through an iron wall, even if he were to be at the far end of the court-"

"That's it!" He bolted up, and grabbed his board. Ren raised her eyebrow, and looked toward her sensei who was chuckling slightly. "It seems like you gave him an idea." She sat down on the bench, "glad to help, Takeda-sensei."

"Azumane."

"Yes!" Asahi turned around to see a familiar figure, "are you good at doing back attacks?" the third year was a little surprised by the question, but he decided to answer it anyway.

--

"Great work today, everyone." The adviser encouraged, looking at all the tired students sitting on the floor. Ren stood close beside him, and thumbed up to the team. They have been working hard with the new play Ukai had set up; they were exhausted. Still, she had to admit, the amount he had thought of in such a small period of time was impressive.

After everyone finished changing and all, all the students went off on their own, into their own directions as well. When Ren reached home, she threw her shoes off in a very odd manner. The inter-high preliminaries were in two weeks, how couldn't she feel nervous? She plopped down on her bed like she was lifeless, and sighed. I hope my date with Daichi-san tomorrow doesn't distract him.

I don't even have the right to call it a date; it isn't really one either.
