Act 3; It looks like she recovered.
"S-so, Tsukishima-kun, what's your club activity like?" Ren asked awkwardly, walking behind the two. "It's a club." He replied, walking towards the gym. Ren looked up at him, eyebrows furrowed downwards. "I'm not dumb..." She quietly said, but loud enough for Tsukishima to hear.
Ren could hear the squeaking of shoes on the gym's floor.
Is it a sports club?
Shortly after, the sound of balls being thrown back and forth.
Basketball?
She was nervous. Were these people going to like her? Despise her? Kick her out? She had so many questions in her head, but before she knew it, she had reached the gym. "Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, you both are late." A male brunette stated, almost disappointed. "Sorry about that." Yamaguchi apologized, bowing, as Tsukishima just walked in, Yamaguchi following.
"U-um... Yamaguchi-san, Tsukishima-kun?" Ren called out, causing silence to fall over the gym with complete awkwardness. "Oi, oi! Is another person joining the volleyball club?" The orange male jumped around, extremely hyper, before getting a slap to the head by a dark haired male. "Obviously not, dumbass Hinata."
"Ow..."
Ren looked down with her face red, nervous.
It's those two... They play volleyball?
"Ah, sorry, is there something you need?" A platinum blonde male, smiled asking her the question. Ren, who was still flustered from before, wasn't very great with people. And she never was. Yamaguchi then closed in on the captain, "she isn't really good with people... T-Try being nice with her..."
Daichi nodded, and then walked over, putting his hand on Sugawara's shoulder. "Suga, you should introduce yourself first. Like this," the brunette male gave a smile, and put out his hand for a handshake. "I'm a third year, Daichi Sawamura, the captain of this team. It's nice to meet you."
Ren's eyes widened and she started stepping backwards, before gently hitting into someone. "Sorry about that," a tall, older looking male said, before getting shocked. "Y-You're face is red, are you alright-"
"S-sorry!!" The shock of embarrassment changed her so much, that she couldn't regain her sense.
"Yamaguchi calm her down-" Daichi gave him a light push towards her. "M-me?!" He shouted before looking at the situation. He sighed and took a step forward, "Yoshida-san?" Ren looked behind her, tears in her eyes. "C-Calm down, you can introduce yourself now."
Her eyes widened, her entire face heated up, more than before. And she stood quiet,
Sorry.
Yamaguchi took a deep breath, and walked back over to Tsukishima, who was snickering in the back of all this. Daichi walked up to her, sighing out of relief, "you're lucky coach Ukai stepped out, otherwise the place would've been a mess."
Ren pulled her head down, "s-sorry..."
"There's no need to apologize. Now, is there something you might need?"
If it's a boy team, a girl like me can't join unless I'm a manager...
But since I have experience, should I ask if the position of an assistance available?
"I-I'd like to... become an assistant to this team." Ren calmed down, causing Daichi to go over her question and wonder.
I can't join the other teams-
I won't.
"I-I don't know... We may have to ask the coach about this-" Ren immediately bowed, "please let me assist the team!" Daichi crossed his arms, breathing. "I'd like to immediately give you an answer, but the coach is who decides."
Ren's eyes widened and she stood back up, with disappointment. "It looks like she recovered," The orange haired whispered to the raven, black haired one; getting a slap to the back of the head once again. "It's because of you, idiot."
Ren quietly asked the captain of the team, before Daichi turned around, ordering the team to return back to practice. "Sugawara Koushi, I'm a third year, as well as the vice captain of this team; nice to meet you." Sugawara bowed, giving a smile to Ren.
"I'm a first year, Yoshida Ren. N-Nice to meet you too..." She introduced, returning the smile. "I'm sorry I caused trouble..." Sugawara laughed, "you must like apologizing a lot."
"S-sorry..." Ren's cheeks burned a slight pink, "but it's not a bad thing. It shows that you're very well mannered and polite." Daichi added, before asking her the reason of why she would like to join.
She really missed Volleyball. Sure, she wasn't a professional at it, but she was... decent. She'd play basketball on her free time, but only played volleyball because her classmates did it.
--
"So that's the case." Daichi nodded; as Sugawara went and scolded Hinata for receiving the ball badly enough to almost hit the new girl. "Well, you got my approval; you're just going to have to wait for the coach and the others to come." Ren's eyes lit up, and she smiled greatly. "Thank you so much, Daichi-san!"
"It's no problem."
After a while of Ren watching who went where, and the positions of them all, she finally built up the courage to walk up there.
I'd like to help them.
"Y-Yamaguchi-san!" She ran to him, took a deep breath and smiled. "Your receiving is a little bit off, don't raise your arms, rather, bend your knees and keep your arms in place when you receive." She gestured it as well as she explained it; Yamaguchi nodded.
Ren smiled, "do you want to try it?"
"Osu!" Ren tossed the ball to him, but it was a little off. No matter, Yamaguchi moved to the side, and received in almost perfectly back to her. It was a little bit too high, and a little bit to the right, but she accepted it, since it was partly her fault.
"Great, now a few more times, and you'll master it." She smiled, making Yamaguchi smile back at her. She looked towards a specifically, "same with you, Tsukishima-kun."
"Tch," Tsukishima walked off to the other side of the net. "I can do it on my own." Ren walked towards him, as Tsukishima looked down on her, frustrated. "Are you a professional yet?" Tsukishima twitched. "Excuse me?"
"Even if you're the best middle blocker alive, there's still room for improvement, and since that's the case, people need to help you to get better. So, no; you can't do it alone, because I won't let you." Ren softly spoke. Part of it sounded like a lecture, but part of it sounded like she was advising him.
That should teach him.
Tsukishima looked away. "I don't care, do what you want." Before walking away, Ren's eyes widened. Everyone in the gym were busy with their own practicing, so she hadn't completely made a fool out of herself.
Only to Tsukishima.
Ren looked down. "Sorry... I got carried away." Tsukishima continued walking. Although he had heard her apologies, he was in no mood to retort back to her, since it was meaningless. The orange haired male, then walked up to her. Ren suddenly got nervous, praying that he hadn't recognized her from the girl at the vending machine; otherwise, she'd be labelled as a stalker.
"Oi!"
"D-Do you need something?" She asked politely.
"My name's Hinata Shoyou! I'm a first year, in class 1!" Hinata yelled, making Ren even more nervous. "Hello, Hinata-san. I'm Yoshida Ren, also a first year, but in class 4. It's good to meet you." Hinata laughed, and pat her back. "You're joining the team aren't you, Yoshida-kun?"
Ren could hear snickering from behind her, and knew the two behind it. "Oi! What's the big deal?" Hinata shouted, as Ren's face started burning up. "Yoshida-kun, what's the matter?" Tsukishima laughed, and Yamaguchi held it back, but couldn't for long.
"What-?" Hinata got slapped really hard on the back of his head. "Oi! Kageyama, that hurts! What did I do?!" Hinata yelled, rubbing his head. "Idiot, Hinata, idiot! Didn't I tell you that she was a girl?!!" The raven black haired male yelled, causing Tsukishima to laugh even harder.
"W-what... Yoshida-kun's a girl?! B-but-" Hinata's face lit a bright red, "sh-she's flat!"
She's flat...
Tsukishima was on the verge of crying, and Yamaguchi couldn't help but also burst out into laughter. Ren's entire face heated up, and she covered it, knowing that it's just making things worse.
"G-Guys... Daichi can hear you!" The older looking male with his hair in a messy bun spoke out, with Daichi giving off a deadly aura. "DUMBASS HINATA, LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" The raven male shouted as he slapped him as many times as Hinata deserved.
"OI!" Sugawara yelled, stomping over to Hinata, who was thinking that Sugawara would save him, but rather slapped him on the head as well. "Go apologize, Hinata!" Sugawara's face was also dusted red, as he walked over to Ren, who was sulking in a corner. Hinata walked over to the girl and stuttered. Sugawara forced a bow, and stood back up. "U-Um... Sorry about that..."
Ren looked over her shoulder, still flustered, and shook her head. "I-I guess it was the... height... You're very tall, and that's a good thing. Um, and, your... ponytail is kind of like Asahi's..." Ren started chuckling, as she wiped the tears from her eyes, "th-that's alright, H-Hinata-san."
