Act 24; I'll be rooting you on.
Ren's P.O.V:
"If Yoshi-su liked Tsukki-su, Yoshi-su and I couldn't be friends."
What was this?
It felt like the world was against me... Well, Hiyori-san at least. No way, I couldn't like Tsukishima-kun that much. I don't even know if what Kageyama said was true or not.
But what else could this be?
A flu? No. Maybe he reminds you of your brothe- what the hell, Ren? You don't even have a brother. Hate to admit it, I'm an only child.
But it's kind of fun pretending like someone's an older sibling to you. Like Kageyama, or even Yamaguchi-san. I thought, as I turned off my alarm.
Surprisingly, I wasn't as tired as I thought I would be.
Gee, I wonder why.
Would Yamaguchi-san be older or younger? I placed my hand on my chin, definitely older. Or maybe younger?
Nah, my age.
I dragged myself to the washroom, and turned on the tap. I splashed some cold water on my face, and got to work with my toothbrush.
Today isn't important, no one knows anyways.
A noise gradually became louder, and so I turned off the running water.
Oh, my phone.
I read the caller ID, making sure it wasn't a random number.
Hiyori-sa- wait, why is she calling?
I placed the phone near my ear, and smiled. "Hello?"
"Hey, Yoshi-su! Is it alright if I come over?" Over? At this hour? "E-Eh, well, I don't mind! But may I ask..? Why?"
It was quiet on the line. "O-oh! Well... you see... I'd like to get to know Tsukki-su a little more, and I was too afraid to talk to Yama-su about it..." I gave a sigh, "s-sure, I don't mind at all."
Why is my heart beating..?
"Ah! Thank you, Yoshi-su! I'm on my way now."
"Also, best of luck with Tsukishima-kun!"
Hiyori-san squealed on the other side."Thank you, Yoshi-su!"
"Well then, bye now."
"Bye!"
- Call disconnected -
I dropped face first on my bed. Does she even have my address? I breathed disappointed, and clutched the pillow on my right. My hair was still straight, and I decided to keep it like that, since it did give me some confidence. I brushed it slowly, but the brush got stuck in a tangle.
"God-!" I mumbled, before letting it go, hanging it from the strand.
Today just isn't my day.
Ding-
Oh my god. That isn't the bell... is it?
I face palmed quite quickly, and headed in the direction of the door. I turned the lock, and pulled the door open to see Hiyori-san. Her eyes widened at the sight of me, and her eyebrows turned to a slant. "Yoshi-su, my, are you alright?" She walked in, as I finally pulled the hairbrush out from my hair.
"Does it look that way?" She shook her head rather fast. "Not at all." The door shut behind her, and so I lead her up to my room. She plopped herself onto my bed, which I don't really mind.
Standing up straight, it didn't take me a while to realize I was still in my PJ's. "Yoshi-su, you look terrible..." I gave a forced, ear to ear grin, causing Hiyori-san to lean her body backwards. "N-never mind, don't reply to that." I agreed, taking and giving a deep breath.
"You wait here, I'm going to change."
"No you aren't." I raised my eyebrows, "why is that?" Hiyori grinned mischievously, "I'd like to pick out what you wear." I crossed my arms, thinking over whether or not I should do it.
It could turn out horrible, or incredibly amazing.
"Pleaaaasse, Yoshi-su?" I placed my hand on the nape of my neck, and I averted my gaze to the ceiling. After a few moments, I looked at her acting stubborn. "Gosh, fine."
"Yay!" She hopped up, making me wonder.
Is my closet even tidy?
"What should you wear?" Hiyori-san asked, excitement glistening in her eyes. "I don't know, that's why you're here right?" She snapped the two fingers on her left hand, "good point." The closet then opened, and to my fortune, is cleaner than I had expected.
I placed my hand on my chest, thank god. "Eh- Yoshi-su, your clothes are all shirts."
Shirts? Oh, did she think I had some major fancy clothing?
"Oh? I think I found something nice." I peeked over the females shoulder to see a red silk dress, with a rose on the left side of it as well, that was neither fancy nor plain.
Why.
"This one's perfect!"
"Um- wouldn't you prefer a simpler piece? Since we're home and all-?" Hiyori-san chuckled sweetly, and handed me the hanger with the clothing on top. "Silly, Yoshi-su. We are going somewhere." I quickly grasped the dress, looking up at the girl. "Eh?"
--
I stepped out of the washroom, and ruffled my hair. It was a dress from my dad for my 13th birthday. I didn't wear it though; I wasn't much like that type of person. I collided my hand with my head.
I really do sound like a guy.
Maybe I do need to change.
I walked into my room, where Hiyori-san had waited. The long piece fell right above my knees, and I knew it would be awkward to walk around in public with. Not to mention, it was sleeveless, and both made me not want to wear it. But alas, here I am. Although, I am wearing it, but with black tights and a black shirt.
"Yoshi-su! You look great!" I sheepishly fidgeted around with the bottom of the shiny dress. "Now let's do your hair." My eyes widened, as my dark green eyes met brown ones. "Come on! It'd be fun, Yoshi-su!"
I slumped my shoulders and sighed in defeat. "Fine... But- where are we going aft-"
"Shhhh, Yoshi-su. It's a surprise." Hiyori-san jumped with glee, and put me down on my knees to eye level. "Good, stay like that." I bit my lip, and had her take off my hair band and grasp the brush.
Geesh, where are we going?
Goodness, does she know what day it is..?
"Hey, Hiyori-san-"
"Just Hiyori is fine." I smiled warmly, as she brushed my tangled hair slowly. "Okay, Hiyori... Do you know what day it is?" She stopped her hands from continuing. "Yoshi-su, you're so forgetful. It's the 14th of May."
I felt a tide of relief clear my thoughts. A few moments later- Well, a few long moments, Hiyori sighed. "There, Yoshi-su. You're done." I stood up from my knee position, which was indeed painful, and I dusted off my dress.
Too bad, dad would have loved to see me wear this.
But it was hidden away behind the few pairs of clothing I had. "You look great!" Hiyori clasped her hands together, and pat my head. I looked in the mirror to see a reflection even I doubted was my own. "How is my hair so straight..?"
She chuckled, "with a straightener, silly."
"And how did you get the right bang from out of my face?" Hiyori placed her hands on her hip, "with a clip."
I wonder what Tsukishima-kun would thi-
I hit my cheeks with my palms, scaring Hiyori the slightest bit.
Why am I thinking of that creep right now?!
The blood rushed to my cheeks, and I guess Hiyori took notice of it.
Great.
"Oh? Don't be flustered, Yoshi-su. No one will see you." I bit my thumb slightly, "f-fine... Let's go..."
--
We walked back and forth, since Hiyori had no idea where she was headed. "Oh! I think it was here- no, never mind..." I forced a smile, and continued to stride along with her. "What's the store name again?" Hiyori took a glance at the store behind me. "That one!"
I spun around, wind flying through my hair, and the slight scent of coffee was noted down. "A café?" I asked, a little confused by the overall situation. Hiyori nodded almost immediately, and grabbed my wrist. "Let's go, let's go, let's go!"
I chuckled slightly due to her childish behavior, but left it at that. We entered, and it was followed by a very faint ring of the bell at the top of the door. Surprising enough, this was my first time being in a café in Japan. "Amazing..." I quietly murmured under my breath, taking in the sweet smell of pastry mixtures and hot drinks.
"Right?" Hiyori grinned ear to ear, as I then followed her to a table.
This place is so cool!
We took our seats, and looked over to a waitress who had been walking over. "How may I help you?" She smiled warmly, holding a small notebook and a blue pen. "Ah, well, could I get a chilled vanilla bean mocha?" Hiyori spoke out, almost too naturally.
The worker then looked towards me, making me frantically look at the small menu placed in front of us. "U-um... A-a hot chocolate! P-please..." The waitress giggled before repeating the order. "So a chilled vanilla bean mocha and a hot chocolate coming up." She walked away; making me put my head down in relief.
"Yoshi-su, you're so awkward." Hiyori laughed out, also causing me to burst into laughter as well. "My, when you hang out with the boys, do you ever get to laugh like this?" She asked, wiping a tear slightly from her eye. I settled down, and shook my head, "I try to prevent it, but there are some times I can have a good laugh with Hinata or Yamaguchi-san."
She ruffled her brown locks, and smiled, "that's good." The waitress came back with the two drinks, and placed them down on the table.
Whoa, that was quick.
"Do you two need anything else?" Hiyori waved her hand up and down, "no, thank you so much." The worker bowed, and went back to work. I placed both of my hands on the cup, and brought it up carefully to my lips. "Hey, Hiyori..."
She gazed up, placing her chin in between the palm of her hand. "Mhm?" I put the drink down, "is there a reason you like Tsukishima-kun?" Hiyori's face heated up a little bit, and she raised her hands to her cheeks. "Well, yeah... He's cool, collected, reserved at times, and he has high grades... Why wouldn't I like him?"
I started to repeatedly hit my index fingers together, before plastering a fake grin onto my face. "Well then, Hiyori... I'll be rooting you on."
