Act 23; Wouldn't she hate me then?

"Hey, Tsukki," Yamaguchi grinned as he looked up to his friend. "What?"

"You're a pretty good friend, you know that?"

What other reason would he embarrass Yoshida-san like that? It was to get rid of all those great comments about her, so people could talk to her.

"Shut up, Yamaguchi."

I'll leave it. Tsukki will probably say something like, "the praises were lies. They were irritating me."

Yamaguchi said that out loud and accidentally imitated him by using his hands as glasses. "What are you doing, Yamaguchi?" The freckled boy flinched, and placed his arms behind his back. "N-nothing, sorry, Tsukki!"

--

Damn it, I'm late again.

Ren groggily pulled herself through the doors of the school. She recollected on what happened yesterday, only to face palm, making everyone stare at her. Ren sighed, as she knocked on the door to her classroom. She gripped the bag, which hanged low. It wasn't necessary, obviously.

But since when did Ren do anything logical?

The sensei opened it, and wasn't really that pumped up to see her. "Yoshida-san, can you start coming on time?" Ren yawned, and slid past her, walking through class. "Hey!" The class muffled their laughter.

She placed her head down on her desk, and mumbled, "yeah, yeah, sorry, Sensei." The teacher breathed, and decided to let it go. "How does Yoshida-san have such good grades?" Yamaguchi asked, as he also buried his head into his arms. "I don't even know." She said, as she took out a notebook.

"It's history, not math." Ren looked at the blonde, and then at her book. Her face heated slightly, and she switched them.

"Is it possibly Tsukishima..?" Ren's eyes widened, "eh? How'd you know?" Kageyama shrugged, as he sat criss-cross on the ground. "I don't know." Ren bit her thumb.

Great, now someone knows her weird secret.

"Why would you fall for a jerk like that?" She slanted her eyebrows, worried by the sentence. "What do you mean?" Kageyama sighed, as he didn't support the decision in any way possible. "You like him, dumbass."

--

Like him? Am I crazy?

She pouted as she took down notes from the board.

That can't be it. Well, I can't say that I hate him either...

Ren hit her head with the back of her pencil, and face planted into the desk.

Gosh, Ren! Pull yourself together! Of course you don't like him!

Well, at least I think...

The bell rang, making Ren sigh in relief. She stuffed her notes in her bag, and picked it up. Small footsteps walked next to her, "wow, Yoshi-su. That hairstyle looks great on you!" Ren let out a yawn, "thank you."

"Geez, are you okay, Yoshi-su?" She looked to her right, to see a familiar girl bending down next to her. "Ah, I'm alright... I think."

"You think?" Sayaka encountered her from the left, placing her hand on her hip. Ren admired Sayaka. Not because of anything really, but just her maturity, and how she handles situations.

Maybe I should talk to her about Tsukishima-kun...

Ren thought, and took a deep breath. "Tsukki, Tsukki?" Tsukishima looked at his friend, "yes?" Yamaguchi smiled widely, "want to go for a walk?"

"No." The taller male said bluntly, making Yamaguchi sigh. Tsukishima wasn't the most energetic person. "I'll buy you some cake." Tsukishima's ears perked up, as he got up from his chair in an orderly manner.

"Was that a yes?" Yamaguchi chuckled, as he walked behind his friend, who had been exiting through the door. "Shut up, Yamaguchi." Hiyori patiently watched the two leave quietly, making Ren and Sayaka also stare.

As soon as they stepped out the door, she sighed relieved. "They're gone, finally." The shortest girl stated, making Ren raise an eyebrow.

This should be a good time to ask.

"Sa-" "Yoshi-su?"

Ren stood up straight, looking at Hiyori in the eyes. It was simple, since she did cut her off. "Yes, Hiyori-san?" The brunette shuffled sheepishly, but questioned surprisingly straight forward. "What's your relationship with Tsukki-su?"

Tsukki-su? Does she mean Tsukishima-kun?

Ren tilted her head, a bit confused by the question. "We are just friends." Sayaka jumped into the conversation, "only friends?"

"Yeah." Hiyori smiled, "so you don't like him-?"

"WHY WOULD I LIKE A JERK LIKE HIM?!" Ren yelled unusually loud, and laughed unnaturally, making the two jump back, startled. "I mean, it'd be strange if I l-liked him..." She sighed, trying to hide her fluster. "That's good, because if Yoshi-su liked Tsukki-su, Yoshi-su and I couldn't be friends."

Ren's eyes widened and she felt her heart drop. What does that mean? "W-Why such an odd q-question though?" Hiyori's cheeks turned pink, as she bit her lip slightly. It was such a cute impression.

"Hiyori has a crush on Tsukishima-san." Ren got it. Although she was sort of disappointed, and she didn't quite know why. So as long as she apparently liked Tsukishima, she couldn't tell anyone. "Saya-su! I could say it myself..!"

Sayaka crossed her arms, "sorry then."

"I-Is that so..? A-Anyways, it'd be quite weird if I l-liked Tsukishima-kun..." Sayaka breathed, still keeping the blank expression on her face. "Yeah, that would be." Ren was relieved, not because of anything particular, but because Sayaka and Hiyori believed her. And it was a shame, really. She didn't want the first people that believed her words, believed a lie.

"What class do we have next, Saya-su?"

"Let's see," she hummed, as she looked at the board, "science." Hiyori pouted, and sighed. "Aw- but I thought it was club activities..." Sayaka face palmed, "Hiyori-san, activities are at the end of the day." Ren picked up her bag and placed it on her lap.

Still some time left, huh?

For some odd reason, she was nervous. No, more like on-edge. "Hiyori-san-"

"Just Hiyori is fine." Ren gave a hesitant smile, "H-Hiyori, what club are you in?" She placed her hand in her chin, and looked up, recalling. "Saya-su and I play on the girl's volleyball team! How about you, Yoshi-su?" The tallest scratched her neck, "I'm an assistant advisor for the boy's volleyball team."

"Eh, really!? Does that mean you get to watch Tsukki-su play?" She asked excitedly, making Ren startled. Even if Ren was 'head over heels' for Tsukishima, Hiyori would still beat her. "U-um... Not really... I look at everyone equally." Hiyori stopped herself from replying, along with Sayaka, which hadn't even spoken at all.

Ren looked over her shoulder to see two other people stride in; Yamaguchi and Tsukishima.

Oh, that's why.

As soon as they sat down, Hiyori stood up straight, making a good first impression. "Well then, see you, Yoshi-su." She said in a very sophisticated voice, right before the bell rang, making everyone stare in awe at her. She was just that perfect.

Sayaka also took her seat in the front. The 14 year-old slouched herself over her desk, and grabbed her science notes.

Why do I all of a sudden feel like I've lost something?

Is this... stress?

"Wow, looks like you made some friends, Yoshida-san." She smiled, not making eye contact with the figure that spoke, "y-yeah..."

"My, why are you looking so down? Didn't you get what you want?"

No, not really.

She clenched her teeth.

Gosh, just looking at him pisses me off.

"Shut up..." Tsukishima smirked, "what was that? I couldn't really hear you, could you speak up?"

Well, actually... It wasn't all that much.

Ren huffed, as she smacked both sides of her face, leaving a red mark. The two on either side stared at her in an unpleasant manner. Well what could she do? She was the weird one.

--

"Yoshi-su, wanna sit with us?" A persistent female asked, excitedly holding her bento. Ren chuckled, "sorry, Hiyori-san. I need to talk to Kageyama today." Hiyori gasped, "Yoshi-su's confessing?!" Ren's eye twitched, "e-eh? Kageyama and I are just friends."

Sayaka flinched, "oh? Then why did you call him without honorifics?" Hiyori nodded stubbornly. Ren stood up, and brushed the question off, "a-anyways... I need to speak with someone." She took a step, and then dashed off, "bye then!" The taller of the two sighed, as the shorter one pouted. "Aw- wait... Who is this 'Kageyama'?" Sayaka shrugged, "who knows?"

Ren breathed as she held herself up by holding her knees. This should be far away enough.

Good thing Yamaguchi-san hadn't invited me earlier.

She messed her hair up, not because I wanted to see him!

Well, it would be weird if I invited Kageyama after all.

And Tsukishima-kun would definitely make up jokes again.

She picked up her pace once more, as the quiet halls were filled with chitchat. Ren focused on the sound of the zipper hitting the metal on her bag though. "Class 3..." She mumbled, as she encountered a few doors. "Ah, here." Ren gazed at the door number, and walked in. "Kageyama?" She called, as he looked away from the windows to her.

The class room looked at her, but then went back to their nonsense. What could she say? She wasn't exactly a big thing at this school. She was just one of the leaves on an autumn morning, bound to disappear with the wind, and lost with the crowd. "What are you doing here, Yoshida?"

A blush crept on her face, and she played with a strand of her hair. "C-can we talk somewhere else..?" He nodded as he continued to sip from his carton. "Sure, I have nothing better to do, anyways." Her eyes widened slightly, as she gripped the strap of her bag.

Is he...

...somehow like me?

True, Kageyama Tobio didn't have many friends. Aside from Karasuno's volleyball club, no one really talked much to him. Sure, his quiet, but intimidating personality got to them, but other than that, everyone seemed to judge this book by its cover. A few moments later, they reached a vending machine. Next to it was the most peaceful part of the school. Quiet, reserved, the perfect place to talk.

It was strange. If it weren't for their awkward nature, people would definitely assume they were dating. "Is this about yesterday?" Kageyama said blankly, taking a seat next to the girl. Ren clenched her fists, "y-yeah." He sighed, "you're an idiot."

Ren bit her thumb, her cheeks burning up. "However, I won't involve myself in any of it." She sat straight, and looked the male. No surprise, his eyes were closed.

Ren wanted Kageyama to get involved. She needed some help to rid of these feelings, and right now, she didn't want her upperclassmen to judge her. So who better to ask then the Kageyama Tobio? "So, what do you plan to do?" She furrowed her eye brows, "I don't know..."

Kageyama huffed impatiently, "you're telling me you fell for this bastard without a plan?" Ren nodded, "even if I had one, I couldn't possibly use it..." He raised a brow, "why not?"

"My friend likes him." Kageyama crossed his arms, staying silent for a bit. "And because your friend likes him, you're giving up?" She slouched down, "what other choice do I have-?"

"Stop being a dumbass. There is a way." Ren widened her eyes as soon as she heard this. Another way? How? She did want to throw away her feelings for that dork, but as much as she wanted to, she couldn't.

Because she liked him as much as she wanted to take out the trash.

"How about..." Kageyama started, as he placed his chin in his palm, "you make him fall for you-" Ren choked on air and started coughing. "M-me? Make him f-fall for?" She pointed at herself.

The raven haired male stayed silent, "you didn't let me finish." She breathed, "continue."

"And then when word gets out or whatever, " he hand gestured the phrase, "your friend will stop liking him." Ren made a fist with one hand and opened the other. She then collided the two. "Oh, I get it!" She felt her face redden, "Alright-! Wait..."

Kageyama rolled his eyes sassily, "yes?"

"Wouldn't she hate me then?" He crossed his arms, "not necessarily. If you two were friends, she wouldn't really hate you. And if she liked the jerk that much, she would wish the best for him." She then rolled both her palms and held them close to her. "Alright then! Thank you, Kageyama-sam-"

"Kageyama's fine." She rubbed her neck sheepishly, "sorry about that, force of habit."

As expected from the genius setter. Who knew? The king gave some pretty good advice, even if he did lack the experience.

They both got up, as soon as Kageyama observed the time. Kageyama offered to walk her to class, but as soon as she took a step in, she turned around. "Wait a second." She doubted once again, "weren't you against this in the first place?" Kageyama's aura changed, "yeah, I was."

Ren put a foot backwards. "But you may be able to change that trashy personality of his." She flashed a smile, and gave a thumbs up. He then walked away, and disappeared from sight. Ren then knew, this is going to be one hell of a year.

A/N)) The trashiness of this.

Is just off scale.

//points to Kags and Tsukki// I BLAME IT ON THEM.
