Act 22; So I'm playing the prince?
Shiratorizawa, a powerhouse in almost every subject, especially sports. The school that everyone had entered into, only to be turned down if they hadn't been as good as they had wanted. It was a school Kageyama Tobio had tried to enter, but didn't make it past the entrance exams. As well as that, no one wanted the 'Egocentric King' there anyways. From the point of Karasuno, they would have encouraged him, and have laughed at Shiratorizawa and the teams for not accepting him.
But he may not have turned out the way he is if it weren't for a specific person. He wanted change, and surely, that's what he got in return. Yoshida Ren, on the other hand, tried out merely for fun. She hadn't really wanted to attend, but only did it for show, to put on display for her father.
She didn't really want to get in. It was all a game for Ren, and it was a pretty fun one too. She didn't know what to become when she's older, although the road she can go down was open to so many extents. But forked in so many different ways.
--
"Eh? B-but I think Hinata-san needs more help in math." Ren spoke out, trying her best to move past her insecurities. Hinata raised an eyebrow, pulling out his math exam. "Pardon? I don't think I need much help in math... As far as I know- 1X1 is 2." Ren choked on her juice, and Tsukishima face palmed. As usual, Kageyama had no clue as what anyone was saying.
Yamaguchi snatched the paper out of the gingers hands, and scanned it vigorously. "How did he even get anything right?"
"It's the multiple choices-" The blonde and the freckled threw back replies, astonished by the boys' answers on the page. "'It's because it was made that way'- Are you an idiot?" The decoy stood up, "there was a game that day! I couldn't focus."
"But if you keep getting distracted- there will be no games." Hinata gasped in shock, looking at the freckled source. Tsukishima gave the paper back to Yamaguchi, who held it until he handed it back to Hinata. "Congratulations Yoshida. You're not the most idiotic here, after all."
"Wh-what is that supposed to mean, you bastard!" Ren puffed her cheeks full, and then furrowed her eyebrows. You think she had found a way to stop this, but when really, she just wanted to insult him back. "How immature, Tsukishima-kun! I'll have you know I'm not idiotic-" Footsteps then came marching up the stairs, stomping with each step closer, shutting Ren up.
"Nii-chan- Be quiet! You're too loud!" She opened the door, looking at the scenario. "Nice studying, Shoyou-nii."
"We were studying! Well... sort of about to." Natsu was about to respond, when she chuckled at the sight of the five. "So- Nii-chan, who's the girl here? Or did she not come?" Ren pouted frustrated, although she was used to being called a boy, she didn't know why it had offended her twice as much with a girl. "Oh- You mean Yoshida-kun. She's sitting right there." He pointed to a figure.
She stood up, and bowed- "nice to meet you, I'm Yoshida Ren." It wasn't like she had any masculine characteristics; neither did she have any feminine. She was tall, with a male-like chest. She tied her short hair up, making it look shorter. And Natsu probably heard that she played sports.
"E-Eh, sorry about that, Yoshida-ne-chan!"
Yoshida-ne-chan?
"A-ah well, that's alright." Natsu smiled hesitantly, before an idea sparked a light in her head. "Hey, Shoyou-nii..." Hinata gave a confused look at his sister, knowing that she wanted something other than an answer. "Yes..?"
"Can I borrow Yoshida-ne-chan for a bit?" He crossed his arms, "no." She slanted her eyebrows, begging him. "Absolutely not-"
"But nii-chan! It'll only be a few moments!" Sitting quietly, the four exchanged looks. Ren scratched the nape of her neck, as her sweat dropped. "Hey, why don't we let Yoshida decide?"
"Eh?!"
Tsukishima-kun you evil wizard-
At this point, she had no insults ready to throw. "Okay, Yoshida-kun. Do you want to stay here and help us study?" Natsu gave her a small puppy pout from the corner of her eyes, and it made her surrender.
She was just so cute.
"I don't mind- as long as it's a little while." Hinata's little sister giggled, as she grabbed Ren's hand. "See, nii-chan?" The ginger furrowed his brows, "okay fine then!"
"Come on, Yoshida-ne-chan! I want to do your hair!" Ren's eyes widened, as she anticipated if this was a good choice or not.
--
"I'm bored." Hinata complained, as he stretched his arms on the table. "You're the one who asked for this, dumbass Hinata."
"You asked for this too!" Tsukishima was annoyed, both by the fact that these two were impossible to teach, and that he had to do it himself. Yamaguchi fell asleep on the table. "You think I like teaching a shrimp and a king?" They glared at the blonde, "no asked you to come!"
He popped a vein, "well, Yoshida asked me to help, but you two are un-teachable!" Tsukishima raised his voice, having them break out into an argument. "Is everyone alright up there?" A voice called from the depths if the house. The ginger stayed quiet, as Kageyama gave a slight look to him.
"Yeah, we're fine mom!" All the commotion woke a certain male up. Yamaguchi yawned, and stretched out his arms. "What... time is it?" Tsukishima looked at his phone, "6:19 pm."
The freckled first year sighed, "only?"
"What time are we leaving again?"
"We decided on... oh- 8:30pm." Hinata added to the setter's comment, before he asked another question. "Where's Ren?" They exchanged looks, "I don't know. She left like, 20 minutes ago..."
"Hinata, go find her." Kageyama demanded.
"As expected from the king; throwing orders around." Tsukishima snickered mockingly. "You shouldn't defy the king, it's pretty dangerous." Kageyama glared at him, "why don't you go and find her, Tsukishima?" The blondes face turned blank. "Why would I do that?"
"Because if Yoshida-san isn't here, we'll have to tutor these guys ourselves."
"Tch, why don't you find her, Yamaguchi?" The brunette face planted his head on the table, "no, I'm too tired, Tsukki." Tsukishima threw off his headphones, and stood up. "Anything to get away from this slovenly bunch." Hinata chuckled, "sure, sure, Tsukishima."
The middle blocker clicked his tongue, before exiting the room. "Oh, and Natsu's room is the one down the hallway and on the right." He gave a frustrated sigh. Why did he always agree on things whenever Yamaguchi had suggested them? He didn't know.
He disliked the bunch a lot, but as much as he hadn't wanted to say it, he enjoyed the company. That's the type of guy Tsukishima Kei was. "First one to the right..." He mumbled, as he encountered a door, filled with stickers of unicorns. Tsukishima thought it was stupid, well, more stupid than the things he calls stupid.
He gave a slight knock, and waited a few seconds. "Coming!" Someone yelled from the other side of the door. It opened, slowly, but it did. Natsu looked up, to see the tall figure, but then smiled widely, much to Tsukki's surprise. She threw the door open, like an invitation into her room.
Ren looked to her left, to see the blonde standing there, staring blankly like almost always does. Hinata's little sister straightened Ren's hair, and tied it into a ponytail. So now it looked 3 times longer than it usually would. And a strand of bangs almost covered her right eye. She felt the blood rush to her cheeks, making her cover her face a bit and avoid eye contact.
It was strange, but she did it out of mere embarrassment... right?
"So, you were here, playing dolls the entire time?" Tsukishima said, with a hint of annoyance in his tone. Ren nodded hesitantly. "Yoshida-ne-chan and I are playing dolls!" Natsu snickered, "can you play with us too, Tsukishima-nii?"
Tsukishima-nii?
The 14 year old bursted into laughter, and it was clearly obvious that the beanpole would say no. Tsukishima noticed this, and immediately took action. "Sure. Why not?" Ren's facial expression changed. "E-Eh, you're serious?!" Tsukishima gave a smirk, "like I said. Why would I turn an opportunity as such down?"
Ren was fidgety, and fixed the doll house. "Yay!" Natsu cheered. The blonde sighed, as he sat himself down on the opposing side of Ren. "So what are we doing?" Natsu excitedly hoped back to her place, much like Hinata when he hears about salonpas. She handed Tsukishima a figurine, which much looked like a male.
"Yoshida-ne-chan plays with the one she already has, Tsukishima-nii will play with this one." Ren nodded, trying to understand the entire scenario. "I will be the princess, and ne-chan will be the villain."
"What about Tsukki-" Ren stopped and corrected herself. "Ts-Tsukishima-kun..?" Natsu jumped with glee, "Tsukki-nii! That's a perfect name!" The middle blocker then glared daggers at the girl. She put her arms up, gesturing that she was innocent.
"Tsukki-nii will play the prince!" Ren giggled, "the prince? This guy?"
"So I'm playing the prince?" He dodged Ren's comment, making her doubt his acting skills. A long half an hour later, Tsukishima had to save the princess from the (evil) villain, Ren. She didn't know what to do, or how to act as a villain. As well as the megane, who could indeed act, but Ren's new hairstyle distracted him.
Ren smirked menacingly, knowing this was a role-playing game, and she could test Tsukishima's ability. She didn't know why, but she really wanted to see Tsukishima do something wrong. As the (doll) prince and princess walked away, Ren (doll) stopped them. "Wait..." They both turned around, and Natsu wore a confused face.
Ren wasn't supposed to say anything, but as bored as she was, she didn't want them to literally walk away. "What is it?" The prince spoke out bravely, intentions to protect the princess this time. "I-I..." Ren sighed, "I love you as well."
She wanted to burst out into laughter, because little Hinata was so confused, and Tsukishima just stood still. "S-say something," Natsu said to Tsukishima, "anything!" But alas, he was shocked, but pretty impressed by the way she turned the tables on him. Natsu cleared her throat, as she went back to acting. "F-fine, prince. Who do you choose, the evil witch Yoshida-ne-chan, or your beautiful princess, Hinata?" Tsukishima smirked, as he grabbed the hand of the doll, and pointed it at Ren. "My, I'm going to have to say Yoshida."
Natsu stood up, as Ren was the confused one here. "The princess was supposed to be with the prince. I don't want your real life romance getting caught in-"
"There you guys are!" Hinata stormed in, as he opened the door. His eyes trailed to Ren, who had a new ponytail. He blushed a bit, but shrugged it off. "Yamaguchi is asking for assistance." Ren and Tsukishima exchanged looks, "okay."
--
"What time is it?" Yamaguchi yawned, as he looked towards Kageyama. He took out his phone, "7:46pm" They waited for the rest to come back, but it seemed like they took forever. The three walked in, and Ren immediately took her seat next to Kageyama.
What was this?
"Did you like, die in there, or something?" Ren shook her head, as she leaned more towards Yamaguchi's side. "So, what did you need help with, Yamaguchi-san?"
He hadn't known.
Tsukishima took his seat, and so did the ginger.
Damn it.
Yamaguchi stayed quiet, but he didn't really know why his heart was beating so fast. "Yamaguchi-san?"
"Eh, what!?" Ren laughed quietly. "What did you need help on again?"
"Oh..." He felt his face grow hotter by the second, "question 17vi."
"Ah, that one." A strand fell over her right eye, but she pulled it behind her ear. "Try doing the triangular prism first. Oh, and then the cylinder, since pi is the hardest one to do here." It was that hairstyle, why did Natsu have to make her hair look so...What was the word he was looking for?
Cute?
It's just because the rooms hot, that's all... He repeated to himself, but it was much more than that.
Was Yamaguchi falling for her?
Surely, someone had to catch him; otherwise he'd get hurt in the process.
--
"Thanks for having us!" They all bowed, as the mom smiled. "You guys are great kids. Be sure to come back soon! Shoyou has been talking about you guys a lot latel-"
"OKAY MOM, BYE SURE." He pushed her back into the kitchen, face furiously red. Yamaguchi left earlier than the rest. His mom just came earlier for the heck of it. "Kageyama... Are you not going?"
He picked up his things, giving an intimidating look. "Mrs. Hinata invited me to sleep over..." Tsukishima snickered, but held it in. "Is that so... How about you, Tsukishima-kun?" The blonde, started walking out the door.
Ren really hadn't wanted to walk alone, especially since it was so late. Unlike Tsukishima, or Yamaguchi, she didn't have a mom or dad to pick them up. Better yet, she didn't have the bravery to stride all the way down a mountain. "I'm walking. You?" Tsukishima knew she didn't have a ride. And he knew that she would probably ask to walk with him.
Her ears perked up. "Can I walk with you then?"
"I don't care, do what you like." She felt her heart beat, maybe because she didn't know what she had asked to do. No, it wasn't that. She knew Tsukishima would not care, so why was she so gleeful to walk with him? "W-we'll be on our way then..."
Damn, I can hardly speak.
Am I falling ill again?
"See you, Tsukki-nii and Yoshida-ne-chan!" She smiled, taking a deep breath before walking out the door. "Bye, Natsu-chan!" The rest of the walk was quite quiet. Both because Ren's face felt hot, and Tsukishima had blocked out all the noise by putting his headphones on.
--
Ren got home, threw her bag on the bed, and face planted herself into her pillow. She was exhausted. But even so, she was kind of happy on the inside, and her face was still red. Why couldn't she get that lame excuse of a jerk out of her head? Even she didn't know that much.
She grabbed her phone, and dialled up a number. She was stupid, calling at 9:32pm. But even so, she was desperate. "Hello?"
"H-Hey, Kageyama... Can I ask you something?"
"I don't mind." She bit her thumb. "What does it mean when your heart beats fast around a specific someone and you feel happy?"
A/N) Something weird happened and lmao there are numbers xD
Anyways, this chapters pretty long ^-^ but I told you things get complicated! ((Jkjk I said interesting I know))
