Act 12; I know what you mean.
"Huh? I don't have a separate room?" The young girl spoke out, with a little worry in her voice. "My, my, her highness would be rather upset if she had to share a room." Tsukishima teased, making Ren's face heat up the slightest. "That's not it..."
"Sorry about that, Yoshida. For now, could you bare with staying in one of the other rooms?" She thought about it, long and hard.
Even if I do stay, would it be in the first years room?
"That's alright, Daichi-san. I'll stay in one of the rooms." Ren agreed, as Nishinoya and Tanaka skipped over to her. "So, which room are you staying in?" The shorter second year asked, as they both waited for her answer. Ren awkwardly shuffled on spot, "probably with the first years. It's where I belong anyways."
Both of them gave a disappointed "aw," and left the first year to hesitantly smile. The first years grabbed their bags, and headed to their area, flicking the lights on. Ren threw her bedroll onto the floor and fell on top of it. As soon as the others laid out theirs, a voice commented. "Your futon is oddly close to mine. It's annoying."
"Eh?" She frowned as she looked at the 5 foot space between them. Ren then pulled it to the other side of the room, in the corner. "Is this far enough for you, Tsukishima-kun?" She expired with a hint of annoyance.
The blonde looked up from his phone, with his headphones on his head. "Sure, sure. Do what you like."
This guy!
Ren stomped her foot slightly, trying to stop herself from getting angry, so she took a seat on her sleeping bag, and pulled out her night wear, placing it on the side for her bath. Sighing, she also grabbed her plush teddy bear that she knew Tsukishima would tease her about. So she hid it under the cover, and sat herself criss-cross.
"Do you want something, Tsukki?" Yamaguchi offered, as he laid himself down, reading a book. "No." He plainly answered back, before hearing a shriek, throwing everyone off of their futons. Except for Kageyama, who had been sound asleep in this situation? "What in good-"
Ren was interrupted by another scream, this time only louder. "It's me! It's Asahi!" Shouted a voice, only to have the first year's face palm. "It's only the shrimp and the rest." The blonde exhaled, as Yamaguchi fell backwards back onto his bedroll.
"You guys shut up!" Daichi yelled from the third year's room. "You know, I sometimes envy him." The freckled boy stated, looking towards Kageyama. Ren fell into a crossed leg position, "I know what you mean."
Hinata then rushed in, sighing. "Could you be any louder?" Tsukishima sarcastically said, as the ginger looked at him bothered. "It's the first years turn to use the bath." He said, quieter than usual. "Yoshida-san can use it first then." Ren ruffled her hair, "that's alright, Yamaguchi-san, I-I'll go last."
"No, no. We're alright with waiting." The freckled boy insisted, as Ren picked up her clothes. "If you insist," she looked over to Hinata, who gave a rigid pout. "Why does Kageyama get to sleep?" He walked over and started to kick him with his foot.
"Oi, it's the first year's turn to use the bath!" Kageyama jumped up, to see that Ren still hadn't taken one yet. "Dumbass!" He shouted in displeasure, hitting him with his pillow. Ren shrugged it off, and exited the room and into the washroom. "Huh? There's no lock?!" The girl gloomed as she moved into the bath.
The pillow fight started to get out of hand, when Hinata accidentally hit Tsukishima in the face. "E-erm, s-sorry!" Hinata apologized, as the tall blonde stood up irritable. The ginger backed up, as he hit into the wall, much to his dismay. "Y-You wanna go?!"
Tsukishima then picked up his cushion and fluffed it up. "You really did it now." Yamaguchi giggled, as his friend hit him with it. Chaos broke down, and soon, even Yamaguchi joined in, just for the heck of it. Ren walked in poised, hair down, wearing an oversized sweater and sweats.
She stretched her arms out before a pillow hit the side of her head, causing the rest of the first years to freeze silently. The males honestly thought she'd start a fuss, but fortunately, she bursted into laughter, dropping the pillow. "S-Seriously?! A pillow fight!?" She caught her breath, looking at the males whose faces we're dusted red from embarrassment. "It's late guys. The bath is free now." She wiped a tear, as they walked out from the room.
Ah, seriously though?
They had a pillow fight that I had missed out on?
Ren sat down as she packed her clothes back. She dried her hair with a towel and took out a notebook. The girl picked up a pen and jotted ideas down.
Oh yeah, I'm making breakfast tomorrow, aren't I?
--
Ren woke up due to Hinata's nonstop talking in his sleep. "Pass the ball...here...nngh." She opened her phone which had been charging to see the numbers 3:32 AM. She yawned as she rubbed her eyes.
Even in sleep he plays?
Geesh- that'd tire me out.
She extended her arms as she sat up, slouching. Ren turned on her phone's flashlight and held it up with her left hand. With the other, she grabbed the notebook she had been writing notes down in. She placed in carefully on her lap, having it slant a bit due to the panda plushy under.
What to do, what to do.
The 14 year old girl doodled on the side of the page, a small little chibi bunny. She smiled to herself, before jumping in terror due to a voice in front of her. "What...are you even doing?" A plain voice spoke out, much to her recognition. "I-I-Is that y-you... Tsu-Tsukishima-kun..?"
She shakily asked, shivering with every word she said. "Obviously, idiot." She settled down. Ren knew it wasn't a ghost, yet she didn't know why she was so tense. It was too dark, so she couldn't see Tsukishima, the way he saw her.
Too bad, she kind of wanted to see him without his glasses, or so the thought crossed. "W-What might you need?" She spoke with uneasiness. "You still didn't answer my question." He yawned, making Ren to cover the notebook oddly. "Th-this? Um- It's just some old volleyball strategies."
Stupid Ren! He's not going to buy it now that you sounded so unnatural!
She mentally kicked herself, as Tsukishima turned himself to the opposing side. "Whatever. Just turn off that light. It's annoying."
Eh?!
--
The prodigy dragged herself out of her bedroll, and stuffed her bear into her bag. Knowingly, she grabbed her toothbrush and got to work in the washroom. She shuffled to the kitchen, and grabbed some baking supplies, yawning.
I didn't sleep last night, since Hinata would randomly squeal over some salonpas.
Which didn't make any sense since it's a pain reliever.
Moments passed up until Ren had to actually pan the pancakes. It would take long, but she had to get to work. As soon as she started frying one, Asahi walked with his hair up. Ren's hair, on the other hand, wasn't brushed back into a neat ponytail, but a messy bun. "Good morning Asahi-san!"
She waved, with some pancake mix on her cheek. "Good morning, Yoshida." He then walked over to stand next to her. "What are you making? It smells good." He hesitantly asked, as she flipped it over.
"Pancakes- Hey, tell me something." Asahi flinched, nodding as she focused her gaze on the baking. "Assumingly I make a pancake for everyone, that'd be twelve plus about three- fifteen. If I double the amount for two per person, it'd be thirty. Also, another half since some aren't going to eat three, that would be fifteen divided by two and that would be about eight. So eight plus thirty is thirty-eight and dividing it by twelve would be about three batches." She looked up to the ace of the team. "Right? Right."
She thought aloud and spoke really fast, startling the third year. "You must really like math." She nodded, tasting the batter. "Is that so?"
--
"This is really good, Yoshida." Daichi complimented, as she took a bow. "Yeah, thank you Yoshida." Sugawara added; as she also sat down to eat. "You're welcome guys-"
"YOSHIDA THIS IS GREAT!" Nishinoya cried out as Tanaka teared up, comically. Hinata nodded and squealed as well, "Yoshida-kun will make a good wife!" She blushed at the compliment, and hid it by eating more. Kageyama ate silently, as he thought of some things.
I wonder how pork curry would taste if she made it.
Yamaguchi sat there putting strawberries on Tsukishima's pancake, after giving Ren a few compliments of his own. "You can stop it, Yamaguchi."
"Sorry Tsukki~"
After everyone ate up, it was Yamaguchi's turn to wash. But Ren offered him help, which he gladly accepted.
--
After practicing receiving a bit, coach Ukai finally told them to run. "Are you... worried about picking members for the match?" Ren overheard the conversation from outside.
She watched as everyone put on their shoes and walked out. "I'm undecided..." He started, "about the setter." Ren's eyes widened as she put her hand on her chin.
If I we're a coach and had to choose, I'd be struggling in that position as well. But still...
"Talent wise, I'd go for Kageyama."
Kageyama?! True. He is talented, but Sugawara-san is talented as well.
"Sugawara has experience and has played with an Ace since his first year." Ren gave a hesitant smile, as she listened further. "Kageyama has the talent to surpass that experience in no time though."
I'd be troubled to if I had to make a decision like this.
"Sugawara has been playing all this time, and his teammates depend on him."
"Perhaps the reason why you can't decide is...because Sugawara is in his third year?" Takeda, the clubs current adviser asked. Ren peeked in, unsettled as well. "It's his last year and-... Oh, sorry! I think I overstepped my bounds-"
"No, I think you're exactly right."
The young girl smiled to herself, "I can't base decisions on my feelings." She turned around, and also started to run as well.
Good choice, coach Ukai-kun.
She caught up in no time, and she started to slow down next to Yamaguchi. "Where were you?" She panted, and took a deep breath, "places."
