Changes

Nova handed Five the margarita glass as she clambered onto the bar stool. "So, what now? I mean...it can't really be over, right?"

Five shrugged as he joined her. "I don't know."

"Well," began Delores, "what do you two WANT to do?"

Nova and Five exchanged a glance. They were both so focused on saving the world, that they never got the chance to think of after. Almost instinctively, Five's hand navigated towards his coat pocket before he finally shrugged and pushed around the blended ice in his green drink. "We're open to suggestions."

Before Delores could respond , a knock sounded at the front door. The brunette sighed. "I'll get it."

Nova and Delores were left alone. "Maybe you two should go travel. See the world, relax."

Nova laughed slightly and shook her head. "Honestly, I'd like to just stay home and catch up on 17 years worth of movies, but I'll keep that in mind."

Nova turned to great the two men which were making their way over to her. "Hazel, what a pleasant surprise. Are you planning on shooting us?"

The man blinked before lowering his gun. "Sorry, old habit. Well, I can understand why you two might feel that way..."

"Well, you did break into my house, try to kill my family, and kidnap my brother."

Nova set down her nearly finished drink. "Hmm. Not to mention you killed the girlfriend to my other brother. I've got to say, not cool."

The [soon to be ex] assassin let out an offended splutter of excuses. "You two have a bloody history too, you know. I'm not the only killer in this room, pal."

She shrugged. "Never said you were."

"Speaking of killing, that job you two did in Calhoun, that shit's legendary."

The blonde bowed mockingly before returning to her drink. "Why thanks."

Five's annoyance grew as Hazel started to ramble. "Why are you here?"

The taller male was cut off by an angry Diego. Nova smiled as the alcohol started to kick in. "Oh goodie, a show. Diego kick his ass!"

As she spoke, she stood up precariously on the stool. Five grabbed her arm and guided her down. He winced as Diego stabbed Hazel. "Ooo that's gotta hurt." He set down his drink as the man in spandex bit down.

He disappeared and reappeared behind, and Diego was out like a light. "I draw the line at biting. Whatever you came to say, you better say it quick, before he wakes up."

"I left my partner, quit the commission, and came to volunteer."

Nova giggled slightly. "Welcome to the club. We've got margaritas!"

Five snorted slightly. "If you're here, then without a shadow of a doubt it's over. We found the mark this morning."

Hazel was silent for a moment before he burst into a surprised laugh and chugged what was left of the margaritas.

"So now what?"

Nova pointed at him. "That's what I said! The answer is this: no clue."

Five shrugged. "We've been chasing this for so long that I...we've never really gotten to think about after. What about you?"

"I'm done with all this madness. Time to start over. You two should do the same."

Five scoffed. "That's easier said than done." Nova grasped his hand and he glanced at her.

Hazel shrugged slightly. "It doesn't necessarily have to hard. Just think about it: what would've happened if you never time traveled, never were recruited by the Handler." Five and Nova glanced at each other again.

Nova shrugged. "Life, I guess. Five'd probably be an astronomer or mathematician. Me? I'd probably be...an artist or a waitress or some shit."

"We would've grown up to emotionally stunted man-children like everyone else here."

Nova rolled her eyes. "Pretty sure sure we already are emotionally stunted, but okay."

Hazel stood up. "Well, there you go. You guys get to grow up."

Five glanced at Nova and Delores before turning to face Hazel. "Before you go, which one of you was the trigger man for Detective Patch?"

"Trigger woman."

All three sighed and Five pursed his lips. "That's to bad, the gun could've cleared my brother's name."

"It's your lucky day. Here, take them."

Five waited for Hazel to leave before reaching into his pocket. "You know, Hazel's got a point. Now we get to grow up."

She turned with a confused expression till something shiny caught her eye. "Oh my god." Five appeared to be holding his breath as he causally held out the engagement ring.

Nova let out a breathless laugh as she nodded her head. "I-yes." Throwing her arms around him, she repeated her answer, this time louder and more excited. Pulling back, she slammed her lips against his and smiled against his skin.

Moving back slightly, she allowed him to skip it onto her finger before frowning slightly. "Wait, does this mean we have to wait three years so we can legally get married?"

Five shrugged with a smile. "Well, it'll give us plenty time to plan."

She shook her head slightly as the confusion returned. "When did you have time to find a ring?"

His face flushed as he eyed the diamond ring.  "I um...I found it in the apocalypse. We just seemed more focused on saving the world than on...us."

Her face softened at his embarrassed tone. "We have wasted a lot of time, haven't we? I promise that we'll make up for it."

(A/n: I decided to age Nova and Five up to 15 because I realized a lot of people were doing that in their fanfics. I also still need a season 2 plan.)
