Chapter 29- Kiss me
Elizabeth was outside setting up chairs, and getting things ready for the wedding when Frederick walked over to her looking worried "I cannot seem to find Sebastian, have you seen him recently?"
"Not since early this morning, he said he had some things to take care of, and left. Why?"
"I'm a little worried about him, he was acting strange last night, and wasn't making any sense when we were talking about the wedding."
Elizabeth patted his shoulder and smiled "I'm sure everything is all right, he's probably excited to see his daughter get married."
Frederick wasn't so sure that was the case, and looked at his watch. He had a good feeling where he took off to, and knew he needed to go stop him. "I'll be back, I think I know where he could be."
Elizabeth frowned when he walked away, she had a feeling what was going on and hoped Sebastian wasn't thinking about doing anything that would jeopardize his life. To get her mind off the worst, she picked up where she left off and finished setting everything up.
Alaric met with the officiant when he arrived and went over the details of the vows. "We talked about doing our own vows, but I'm not so good with words." he chuckled "We've decided to do the traditional vows instead."
"Works for me." the officiant smiled.
Meanwhile, Angeline finished getting ready and walked into the living room, she saw Layla and Alyssa standing there talking to Adrian and walked over to them. "Wow Layla, you look beautiful in my grandmother's dress... I'm excited to see you wear it, it is something that she would have loved and wanted to see herself." she said in awe.
"Thank you... I'm glad your mother offered it to me." she smiled, and turned around for her to see it on her.
"It fits perfectly." she paused, and thought about something she had that would finish her look. "Come with me, I have something else you can wear of hers, but I do need it back." Angeline smiled.
"What am I missing with this dress?"
"My grandmother's diamond necklace with blue sapphires... haven't you ever heard the line for marriage that brought good luck?"
"Not really." Layla said confused, and embarrassed she never heard anything like that "What line is that?"
"Well, to bring good luck to your marriage, you wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue... so here's her necklace that has it all. You're double covered between the dress and necklace." Angeline giggled.
Adrian was left with Alyssa, and all he could do was stare and smile at her, causing her to blush. "Do I have something on my face?" she asked worried, softly wiping her cheeks.
He slowly shook his head, looking at her with lust in his eyes. He placed his hand on her cheek, and slid his hand down to her chin, lifting her head for her to look at him. He lowered his head to hers, softly pressing his nose against hers and looked her in the eyes, causing her breathing to hitch. He wasn't sure if she knew about Layla asking him to turn her, and didn't want to scare her as he could hear the sounds of her heart pumping fast. He wanted to see what it was like to kiss her and slowly brushed his lips against hers then stopped when he heard her gasp. He pulled inches away from her face, and smiled "You are one beautiful woman, and wouldn't mind if you accompanied me outside."
"OK." she whispered, trying to slow her breathing as he took a step back. Her stomach was full of fluttering butterflies, and used all her will power to refrain from kissing him. She didn't know him well, but the way he brushed his lips against hers had her wishing she would have kissed him. She was feeling nervous about him turning her, and worried that something would go wrong, that she was beginning to have second thoughts.
By the way she was acting, he had a feeling that Layla had talked to her. He entwined his fingers into hers and leaned into her ear, giving her goosebumps as he spoke "I can feel you getting second thoughts, and I don't want you to worry about a thing." She looked up at him, and nervously smiled back at him when he winked at her. "Trust me, you'll enjoy it... it's an exhilarating feeling that'll have you craving for more."
Alaric walked over to his mother and took her drink out of her hand "Starting early, are you?"
She reached for her glass and gave him a sourpuss look "Give that back to me, I'm trying to relax my nerves."
"Why? Are you nervous about me getting married?"
She shook her head no, grabbed the glass out of his hand, and slammed the rest of her drink. "No, I'm not nervous about that... it's your father, and Sebastian."
He turned his body and looked around, and when he didn't see them he looked at his watch and saw that the wedding was to start in a few minutes. "The wedding is about to start any moment, where are they?"
"I'm not exactly sure, there's only one thing I can think of that they could be doing..." she said, setting her glass down. "Never mind them, go take your place and if they miss it, they miss it." she sighed. She walked away and left Alaric standing there scratching his head.
Shit he muttered under his breath, and felt his heart go empty as he thought about Sebastian. He started to panic and saw Angeline walking towards him "Why are you just standing there? Go where you're supposed to be, she's ready." Angeline snapped.
He placed his arm around her, and pulled her close to him "Father and Sebastian are missing." he said quietly.
"What? Sebastian is supposed to be giving her away!" she said loudly, pushing him away. She saw eyes look over at them, and covered her mouth.
"I'll do it." they heard next to them.
They both turned their heads, and Alaric nervously adjusted his tie "Alex." Alaric said surprised.
"I overheard you say Sebastian was missing, if anything, I can give her away if that's all right with you?"
Angeline pushed Alaric and urged him to go by the officiant, then walked Alex over to Layla. Before Layla could ask anything, she darted away from her and headed for her seat next to Alyssa. Layla looked at Alex with a questionable look, feeling hurt to not see Sebastian taking her arm "Where's Sebastian?"
"He's running behind, so I offered to give you away... is that OK?"
"Should we wait?"
Before he could answer, they were told to start heading towards Alaric. Alex looked at Layla, leaned forward and kissed her on the cheek "I guess he's ready for you now." Alex took a step and urged her to walk when she wouldn't take a step "He'll be here." he whispered.
Layla took a deep breath, and started walking out the door, wondering where Sebastian could be. The moment she started walking towards Alaric, he took one look at her and choked up when he saw her wearing his grandmother's wedding dress, and rolled his eyes quickly over at his mother.
Elizabeth smirked, and discreetly told him to quit looking at her, and to keep his eyes on Layla.
As they reached Alaric, Alex handed Layla to him and grinned. "She's all yours." Alex said to Alaric.
"Who gives Layla Kinglsey away?" the officiant asked, looking at Alex.
"I-" Alex began to say until they heard yelling from behind them. Everyone turned their heads and saw Frederick running and out of breath "Hold on!" he panted as he hurried towards the front row "Sebastian is right behind me." he said, sitting down next to Elizabeth.
Sebastian walked out looking embarrassed to be holding the wedding up, rushed over to Layla, and looked at the officiant "Are you at the part where you ask who gives Layla away?" he asked, nearly out of breath.
"Where were you?" Layla whispered loudly, looking upset.
"I'm so sorry, I was working on your wedding gift, and it took longer than expected. We can start over if you would like?"
"No, you're here now... but afterwards you'll have to answer to me, I was expecting you to walk me, not Alex."
Sebastian gave his blessings, gave Layla a hug and kissed her on her cheek "I may have been late, but I wouldn't have missed this for anything." He handed her off to Alaric and sat down next to Frederick.
Layla and Alaric didn't want a long ceremony, and instructed the officiant to make sure he kept it short, in which he did. After twenty minutes of speaking, he had them exchange their vows, and rings, then looked at the two lovebirds "I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss your bride." he smiled.
Alaric wasted no time, he placed his hands on the sides of her face and leaned in for a kiss. Feeling her lips pressed against his, only made him want more, that he wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her tighter against him, kissing her passionately. Their kiss was long and without thinking, he moved his hands down to her ass and picked her up. Her legs instantly wrapped around his waist, and kissed him back harder.
"Ah, Alaric?" the officiant questioned as he tapped his shoulder, trying to get him to set her down. He pulled away from her lips and turned his head towards the officiant.
"Did you have to interrupt us like that? We were just getting started."
The officiant grinned and pointed over to their friends and family that were sitting there witnessing their heated moment. Alaric laughed, set her down, and apologized to everyone.
After the wedding, they were greeted with handshakes and hugs by everyone who came. Layla saw a woman still seated and nudged Alaric "There's a woman still sitting there." she pointed "Do you think she's alright?"
"I'm not sure... I'm not even sure who it would be, we've already shook everyone's hands that were invited."
Sebastian walked over to the woman, held out his hand and helped her off the chair. "Sebastian must know her, he's talking to her like he does." Layla said quietly, keeping her eye on them.
Layla then started feeling a strange sensation run throughout her body, and began to feel a little weak. "Something's wrong." she said, grabbing a hold of Alaric's arm tighter.
"Why? What's going on?"
"I feel different, almost weak, and feeling weird feelings I've never felt before."
The closer Sebastian and the woman got to them, the strange feelings she was feeling became stronger. She looked at the woman standing next to Sebastian, took a double take at her, and fainted.
Alaric caught her just as she dropped, took a look at the woman, then looked at Sebastian angrily "Is this some sort of joke Sebastian? Who is this woman?"
"Alaric, don't you remember me? It's me... Phoebe." She gave him a sad look, and touched Layla's forehead, making sure she was alright. "She's OK, she's just in shock."
"I don't get it."
"Let's take a step away from everyone, and find a place to talk." Sebastian said, placing his hand on Phoebe's back.
Alaric picked up Layla, carried her into the house, and headed into the study to talk. Layla opened her eyes as Alaric laid her down on the couch. "What happened?"
He didn't know what to say and turned his head towards Phoebe. She walked over to Layla and kneeled "Hello Layla... it's been a long time."
"Mom?" she asked with a tear strolling down her cheek. She sat up and looked at the woman she was told she could never bring back. She rolled her eyes toward Sebastian and was at a loss for words. "I thought you said she could never be brought back?"
Sebastian smiled, and clapped his hands together. "I looked through every book I had, as well as the book you took from your mother's home and found a spell that I could temporally bring her back for an occasion. Being that this was a special occasion I was able to bring her back. But... you'll only be able to spend time with her for the next thirty six hours, and then she has to go back."
"What's the catch?" she asked, knowing that it couldn't have been that easy. "Do I lose anything out of this? Because, before I fainted I started feeling weird, and very weak."
"Sebastian sacrificed a few things to bring me back, but nothing that you should be concerned about. And the reason you were feeling that way, was because you were feeling a part of me. You were feeling how I feel right now... the only downfall about this deal, is that you will be feeling the way I do, until I leave."
For the next hour, they sat in the room talking, and explained everything to Layla on how everything began, and why she did what she did. Layla felt a little better after hearing everything come out of her mother's mouth, and understood things better than she had before. "We better get back out there, I'm sure everyone is looking for us." Alaric said as he reached for Layla's hand.
Throughout the night, Layla wouldn't leave Phoebe's side and wanted to enjoy the short time they had together, they danced, talked, and laughed for hours until Alaric wanted to have some alone time with Layla, and pulled her out to the dance area. "I hope you're having a good night." he smiled, and smiled wider when he saw how her eyes began to sparkle.
"I'm having a wonderful time, and I owe it all to Sebastian."
"Wait... not me? I don't get any credit for tonight?" he pouted.
She giggled and smiled "Of course you get credit, but I'm still in shock for what Sebastian did, and now I'm curious as to what he sacrificed."
"You know what?"
"What?"
"I wouldn't worry about it. He obviously didn't sacrifice his life, and if it was something we had to worry about, I'm sure he would have said something. My father was with him, and I know he wouldn't have let him do anything that would have been bad. I would just accept what he did was a good thing, even if it is only temporary... just let it go, and enjoy the special moment you never thought would be possible."
Layla rested her head against his chest and hummed. Even though it was hard to not think about, she knew he was right. She was just going to take this as it was, enjoy it and leave it be. She happened to see a couple walk hand in hand away from everyone and out towards the gardens, lifted her head and smiled when she saw it was Adrian and Alyssa.
Adrian removed his hand from Alyssa's and placed it on the small of her back. "So, have you thought about if this is what you really want?"
"I have." she said quietly. "I'm a little nervous about it, but I know I want to do this... question is, how do you feel about it?"
"To be honest, when Layla asked me to do this, I knew what she wanted before she asked." he chuckled "But I didn't refuse, and didn't even question it. I was actually happy she asked me to do it, and even more happy that you want me to do it."
"You are?"
He stopped walking, stepped in front of her and placed his hands on her face "Would you like me to kiss you?" She smiled, nodded her head and wrapped her arms around his shoulders "Kiss me, right here, right now."
"As you wish." he said, pressing his lips against hers, and sending sparks throughout her body. She pulled away to breathe, looked him in the eyes, and forcefully pressed her lips against his, kissing him with demand. She was loving the way he kissed, the way he tasted, and the way he made her feel while in his arms, that her inner core began to throb.
"Adrian?" she panted.
"Yes?"
"Take me home and do what you have to do to me... I'm ready."
