Chapter 10- Helping Layla

Adrian jumped back and bumped into Angeline, upsetting her "Adrian!" she barked after he interrupted her feeding. She looked over his shoulder and saw Layla's eyes, and widened her own eyes after seeing the whiteness of her eyes. "What the hell is going on?"

"I don't know..."

"They're here..." Layla spoke slowly. She was feeling confused and shook her head, trying to figure out what was going on in her mind. She looked at Adrian and Angeline, then down to the man on the ground. She kneeled, closed her eyes and ran her hands over his face before placing a hand over the wound. She spoke quietly to him as she began healing the evidence, and to bring him back to life. Her eyes opened once she felt him come alive and helped him up "Go... get out of here, and leave as fast as you can." she demanded.

She looked over Adrian's shoulder and saw someone walking quickly across the room, she raised her arm and pointed "There's one."

Adrian and Angeline both turned their heads to see what she was pointing at, and stepped back "Shit..." Adrian muttered "Where the fuck is Alaric?"

Angeline looked at everyone who were still oblivious as to what was going on, and stepped closer to Layla. She waved her hand in front of Layla's face as Layla kept her eyes on the mysterious person who was walking "Layla... we need to get these people to safety."

"You two work on that, I'm going after him." she said, as she quickly walked away from her.

Angeline looked at Adrian, shrugging her shoulders not knowing what to think, or say. She knew that if anything were to happen to Layla, Alaric would come unglued, and would blame them for allowing it to happen "Come on, lets do what we can..."

Alaric was in the woods, in the middle of feeding when he felt something was wrong "Shit, Layla." he said as he pulled away from the woman's neck. He sat her down, looked in her eyes, and snapped her out of the daze she was in. "What happened?" she asked, sounding disoriented.

"I think the heat got to you. Just drink this, you'll be alright." he said handing her a bottle of water.

He could hear Layla's cry for help, looked at the woman, and apologized to her that he had to leave. He focused in on where Layla was at, and headed to her. He figured out where she was, and felt a little relief knowing that his brother and sister were there.

Adrian and Angeline saw more treachers come into the bar, both knew they were after Layla, stopped what they were doing and went after them.

Layla was in her own state of mind as she followed the man, he felt Layla's presence behind him and quickly turned around. He began to laugh when he saw her eyes glowing at him "You rookie, you have no idea what you're doing."

"I don't?" she questioned with a smirk, slowly walking closer to him. She heard a noise behind her, turned around and glared at the treacher standing behind her. She shot a flame at him, throwing him into the air. She then quickly turned around, looked at the other treacher and glared at him. Her eyes glowed even brighter, and was about to shoot a flame at him, until she found herself flying into the air, and landing on the other end of the bar.

Adrian flew over to the treacher from behind, knocking it to the ground, and grabbed a hold of his neck, snapping it. He stood up, looked around and saw another one coming towards him, his fangs came out and flew forward, attacking him, and killing him.

Layla opened her eyes and saw that a treacher was hovering over her. She was feeling low on energy and tried getting out of his hold as he picked her up. He started dragging her over towards the exit door, and was then attacked. The treacher dropped Layla's arms, fell on top of her, and was then pulled away from her.

Layla pushed herself up with her elbows to see what was going on and watched Alaric attack and kill the treacher. She grabbed a hold of a chair and helped herself up, then ran over to Alaric wrapping her arms around him "Thank you."

"How many more of them are there?"

"I'm not sure, but I can feel another one nearby, but I'm not exactly sure where it is." she said as she looked around her. She looked at each one of the patrons, after remembering Frederick telling her things aren't always what they may seem to be, as well as Trevor telling her that they can disguise themselves very well.

"I think they're all gone." Adrian said as he approached Alaric and Layla.

Layla shook her head, not agreeing with him, she could still feel another presence of one nearby. "No, there's still another one in here, I know it." she insisted.

Angeline walked over and placed her hand on Layla's shoulder, stopping her from walking away "I think you should take the spell off all these people, then you should get out of here. They'll be fine, they're not after them, they're only after you."

Alaric looked at Layla, as much as he wanted to stay and take the treachers down he agreed with his sister "I think so too, I think it would be best to get you home."

Layla refused to leave, she was convinced there was one more treacher, felt it was the leader, and wanted to stay to find him. She was tired of them being in her dreams, and tired of them coming after her. "I need to find him; I have a strong feeling it's the leader and I want to be the one to take him down." she said sounding desperate.

"I don't think he's ready to reveal himself quite yet. You still have what he wants, so he's only testing you right now..."

Layla's heart then dropped after she remembered sending Alyssa outside, wanting her to be avoided by Adrian and Angeline, and hoped she was where she asked her to stay "Shit, I need to check on Alyssa."

She pushed herself away from Alaric and ran outside, as she stepped outside, she saw Trevor talking to Alyssa and quickly walked over to them, she placed her hands on her hips and stared at Trevor for a minute before speaking "You're such a fucking liar."

Trevor grinned and turned towards Layla "Who's a liar?"

"You! You're spying on me; how else would you fucking know that we were here?"

He raised his hand, and flashed his cellphone to her "It's called a phone."

Alaric walked over to Layla and placed his hand on the small of her back, eyeing Trevor up and down "Come on Layla, let's get out of here."

Trevor stepped away from Alyssa and walked closer to Alaric pointing his finger at him "You need to leave her alone; all you are is trouble."

Alaric bit his tongue, trying everything he could to keep himself from saying something and upsetting Layla. Layla stepped in between Alaric and Trevor, giving Trevor a shove "That's enough, I don't ever want to see you again, you hear me?" She looked at Alyssa, wrapped her arm into hers and started walking away with her.

Alaric pointed his finger at Trevor and growled "This isn't over, you and I are going to eventually get our differences resolved... whether you like it or not."

"I'll be waiting... it's been a long time coming." he grinned, and chuckled "You better tell her who you really are."

"She already knows who I am, the question is... does she know who you are?"

"Of course she does, we've been friends a lot longer than she has known you, then you come along and ruin everything."

Alaric couldn't look at Trevor any longer without wanting to rip his head off. He then ran after Layla, wrapping his arm around her shoulder when he caught up to her. "My car is right around the corner, let me take you two home."

Alaric got them into the car and looked at Layla, knowing it could have been worse, and was more relieved she didn't get hurt "I wish you would have told me you were going out; I could have been a little more prepared."

She looked back at Alyssa, saw that she was passed out, and looked over at Alaric, sighing "We weren't planning on going out. After visiting and talking with her, I felt that it had been a long time since it was just her and I hanging out, and felt like having a girl's night out. I figured if we went to the nightclub on the edge of the town, there wouldn't be any issues... boy was I wrong."

"How did Trevor find out that you were there?"

She shrugged her shoulders, and shook her head "Alyssa claims he called her looking for me, and told him where I was... but I'm beginning to think he's been following, and spying on me. I think he knew I was there, and called Alyssa just for the hell of it, to cover his tracks."

Layla made sure to get Alyssa inside her home safe, while Alaric sat back in the car. She then placed a vision into her mind that the two of them had a fun evening of dancing and drinking, just like old times.

Layla felt guilty for what she had done to her best friend, she didn't like putting a spell on her, or lying to her, and hoped that it'll never happen again. As Layla was walking out of the house, another vision came upon her, and stopped to focus on what she was seeing.

It was another vision of her parents driving the night they died. She closed her eyes and focused harder, trying to get herself into the eyes of her father, to see what happened that night, and to see what caused them to go over the cliff.

Alaric was wondering what was taking Layla so long to come out, and turned his head towards the front door. He saw her standing against the door, staring off into the distance. He opened his door, got out, and called out her name as he walked towards her.

"Layla, what are you doing?" he asked, looking at her with a confused look.

He turned his head in the direction she was looking, didn't see anything, and waved his hand over her face. He then realized she was having another vision, and knew he shouldn't interrupt her.

"Dammit..." Layla said quietly. "I'm going to figure this shit out, even if it kills me."

"What are you going to figure out?"

"My parents' death, I keep getting visions of that night. It's like they're trying to tell me something."

"Who's trying to tell you?"

"I think my parents are, why else would I keep getting visions of that night?"

"I don't know."

On the way to Alaric's house, Layla explained what she saw, how close she was to seeing what happened, and how just before they crashed, she saw blackness.

Throughout the night Layla tossed and turned as she tried remembering who was all in the bar, the fight with the treachers and how Alaric came to her aid, once again.

Alaric rolled to his side and wrapped his arm around her "Quit thinking about tonight, you'll never go to sleep, and I won't get any sleep either."

"I can't help it, it's driving me nuts that they want something from me, and I still have no clue what it is."

"Go to sleep, and tomorrow I'll go to your house with you, and I'll help you look for it."

She rolled over to her side to face him, and smiled while placing her hand on his cheek. "Even though you refuse to say it, I'm going to say it anyway... I love you, and I'll see you in the morning."

She placed her lips on his and gave him a long hard kiss that had her stomach dancing with butterflies. She pulled away and rolled back to her other side, she was tired and knew that if she continued, they both wouldn't get any sleep and would be up all night.

The next day, Alaric was able to get Layla home without the daylight hurting her. As he got her in the home, she grabbed a hold of his hand, and pulled him to her "Do you even know what they want from me?"

He shook his head no, even though he did have somewhat an idea. "Not particularly, I just know you have something special that they want."

"It would be nice to know." she said as she walked away. She went over to her father's office and stood in the doorway, looking around.

Alaric walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist, and rested his chin on the top of her head. "When growing up, do you remember seeing your father have anything exciting or different in his possession?"

"Like what?"

"I don't know... I'm trying to help you look for what you need, I'm sure you know what he had, and placed it in the back of your memory, thinking it was nothing important."

"It could be possible." She says walking further into the room. She sat down at the desk and stared at the drawers "I still can't find the key for the desk, I'm sure his desk holds the key to the information as to what I'm looking for."

He looked around and walked in further "Well let's get to looking, I'm willing to help."

For hours they searched the office, looked inside all the books, behind the pictures on the wall, and still came up with nothing. She then started searching the living room, while he searched the kitchen. While he was looking, he looked on the shelf above the cupboards, he noticed a small box, grabbed it and opened it.

He walked into the living room with a grin on his face and held out his hand "Look what I found."

She took the box out of his hand, opened it and smiled "Where did you find this?"

"In the kitchen, on the top shelf hidden in the back behind all the empty bottles of wine."

"I never even thought about looking up there"

They walked into the office, she sat down and placed the key into the lock, unlocking it. She opened one of the drawers and pulled everything out, looked at the paperwork, didn't see anything important, and put them back. She then opened another drawer and dug through that, pulled out an envelope and looked to see what was inside.

As she started reading what she was seeing, her heart felt like it fell into her stomach, and a tear strolled down her face. Alaric stood on the other side of the desk, and closed his eyes when he saw the tears starting to flow "Are you alright?" he asked sounding sincere.

She took a deep breath, and handed him the papers "You knew about this, didn't you?"

Hope the chapter was alright, I had a busy day yesterday and wasn't able to write, wrote this quick this morning for you!!❤❤❤❤
