Prologue: Sparda's Legacy Origins Pt.2
Narrator's POV:
(Spoiler Alert! This is for those who are new to the Devil May Cry series. Play or watch and experience the story.)
Many years ago, there was a demon know as Sparda, a mighty demon swordsman who is known as the Legendary Dark Knight. A former right handed General to the King of the Underworld, Mundus the Prince of Darkness.
Two thousand years prior to modern times, he "woke up to justice" and defeated Mundus and his legions alone. When sealing the netherworld, sensing his power had grown too strong, he intentionally sealed himself and his own demonic power in as well. But that didn't stop him to become the fearless warrior, and keep on fighting for his ideals and beliefs.
Sparda would continue to influence the human world with his presence, such as when he reigned as Feudal Lord of Fortuna and before his disappearance, he later married a human woman known as Eva.
Sparda who saved her life, she was eternally grateful of his heroic actions.. Eva wasn't paralyzed by fear of her savior's appearance, she was still grateful for saving her. First time for Sparda, he felt something inside of his body that some humans feel; the answer is Love. Which leads Eva was giving birth to his twin sons, Dante and Vergil Sparda.
Although not much is known about him on a personal level, it is said that his personality combined both Dante's rebellious nature and Vergil's levelheadedness. Legends speak fondly of his courage, righteousness and his thankless missions to protect the human world at the expense of being labeled as a traitor by all of his kind. Sparda's wife, Eva, always described him as being a noble fighter with courage and a righteous heart.
Sparda understood honor and possessed great wisdom. Sparda had two apprentices, Baul and Modeus, though he only entrusted his true strength and power to the kind-hearted Modeus as opposed to his colder brother Baul. Not long before his rebellion, he swore an oath with his students to live true to their aspirations.
Prior to his rebellion, Sparda was the most powerful demon swordsman and the right-hand man for Dark Emperor Mundus. During this time, he was the mentor of the twin brothers Baul and Modeus, and he entrusted his teachings to Modeus. At some point, he saw the tyranny and injustice of the Dark Emperor and rebelled, fighting to save humanity. Before his rebellion, he made a pact with his students to live true to their aspirations and to carry them out.
He alone defeated the hellish host, before moving on to the Emperor of Darkness himself. Sparda defeated Mundus, sealing him into a marble vault, and what was left of Mundus's armies retreated back into the demon world. In order to close the gateway, Sparda used his own blood, along with the blood of a human priestess (Lady's ancestor), in conjunction with his sword and a mystical amulet. He poured his demonic energy into his beloved sword to close the door between realms, the Temen-ni-gru, though this also robbed him of the lion's share of his abilities. As an added measure, he also imprisoned within the tower its gatekeepers - Cerberus, Agni & Rudra, Nevan, Beowulf and Leviathan - and took the names of the Seven Sins in order to imprison them and set them as seals keeping the Temen-ni-gru underground.
Sparda is known to have used both Yamato and Sparda. The former he used as a key to lock the Demon World away from the Human World, and he sealed the power of the latter with the Perfect Amulet, turning it into the Force Edge.
After 2000 years, the seal on the underworld began to weaken. The Demon Emperor Mundus sent his minions after Sparda's wife and twin sons in an act of revenge.
Sparda's human wife, Eva, stood no chance against the demons and lost her life. One of Sparda's sons, Vergil, went missing.
The only survivor was Dante, Vergil's twin brother.
Decades later...
Dante was reunited with his lost brother, Vergil.
Vergil survived the years with the help of his father's sword, Yamato, and longed to obtain even greater strength by unlocking the power of Sparda.
Arkham, a man bent on obtaining demonic power, knew that unlocking Sparda's power would weaken the seal on the underworld.
To this end, Arkham manipulated Vergil from the shadows to fulfill his deluded ambitions.
Conflicted over his feelings for his lost brother, Dante set out to stop Vergil and Arkham.
Along the way, Dante met a demon hunter named Lady. Her lust for revenge against Arkham, the man who killed her mother, served to steel Dante's resolve.
After learning that Arkham was the real threat all along, Dante and Vergil teamed up to fight the mad scholar.
However, this comradery did not last long, as the two could not overcome their differences.
The battle between brothers was fierce, but Vergil met his match. In the end, he refused Dante's help as he fell alone into the underworld.
Soon after, Dante opened his shop for business: Devil May Cry.
Fronting as a local handyman, he used his business to hunt down demons and collect information on Mundus.
Some time later...
A mysterious and beautiful woman appeared at Dante's door.
The woman's name was Trish and she bore a striking resemblance to Dante's deceased mother.
She led Dante to Mallet Island, where Mundus had been sealed away.
There Dante faced a gauntlet of Mundus' minions, all of whom fell to the Devil Hunter's inordinate strength.
One such adversary was revealed to be Vergil, warped into the demon known only as Nelo Angelo.
In the face of Mundus' cruelty, Dante's anger erupted like never before.
The true power Dante inherited from his father Sparda was unleashed, which he used to seal Mundus away once again.
Dante then returned to hunting demons with Trish and Lady at his side.
Many demons continued to invade the human world...
...but not even demonic rulers rivaling the power of Mundus could match Dante's strength.
All was at peace in the human world...
...but not for long.
A Sparda-worshiping cult known as the Order of the Sword aimed to take control of the human world through demonic forces.
Thus Dante traveled to their base in Fortuna to assassinate the Order leader Sanctus.
Incensed by this affront, the Order dispatched young Holy Knight Nero to kill Dante.
Nero learned of the Order's true goals during his pursuit of Dante, and was killed for it by the scientist Agnus.
Unbeknownst to all, Vergil's sword Yamato had been in the Order's possession. The blade resonated with Nero, reviving him with new demonic powers.
This was proof enough that the blood of Sparda coursed through Nero's veins as well.
Having learned of the Order's sinister plans, Nero confronted fellow Holy Knight and mentor Credo about his involvement.
But alas, his former mentor had been working towards the Order's goals all along.
On top of everything, Sanctus was revived with the aid of nefarious powers.
Nero's beloved Kyrie was then taken hostage...
...and the lovers were absorbed into the core of the Order's ultimate weapon: the Savior.
Enraged over his sister Kyrie's treatment, Credo tried to save Nero, only to be dealt a fatal blow at the hands of Sanctus.
Just when all seemed lost, the legendary Dante arrived to battle the Savior and rescue Nero.
Nero was then able to defeat Sanctus, and put an end to the Order's evil machinations.
Dante sensed in Nero the same connection to Sparda's power, and so entrusted Yamato to the youth before leaving Fortuna.
The two parted ways, and continued their fight against demons in defense of the human world.
The two descendants of Sparda kept the world safe and at peace for many years.
After the incident on Mallet Island, Dante have decided to chat with Trish about the future ahead of them. He have confessed his feelings to her, which she answered yes immediately. Dante and Trish are married, while his family and friends are so happy for both of them.
Trish was giving birth to his son, Y/n Redgrave Sparda, Son of Legendary Devil Hunter Dante. When Y/n was nine years old, he was happy to be with parents and accepted for who they are. He admired of their own bravery, honest, kind and humble to his family.
So Y/n wanted to be fearless and brave like father and mother, wanted for his parents to make them feel happy and proud of their son's achievements. Dante and Trish are very happy for hearing their son's wishes, so they have decided to train him to become the dauntless warrior with every thing that they know from their skills and abilities. Due to Trish's motherly instincts, she want him not just being strong, also wanted to be intelligent for his upcoming studies in school.
But that time of peace was short lived, Dante had a bad feeling from his soul, he feels that there's an unknown presence that threatens his family. Dante and Trish decided to hide their son including rapid growth of his power, His parents had performed a ritual to store his power and memories imbued inside of his father's amulet until the time is right.
Dante and Trish felt bad for leaving their child alone, but they have an idea to him. So they traveled to Kuoh Town in Japan, and they meet an old acquaintance who lives there. His parents have told her about their situation, she accepts their request and to be a role as Y/n's caretaker.
Few years later, Y/n's caretaker have been suddenly disappeared. But she had left him a note of her reason, along with the Star-shaped Trinket called a Wayfinder to remember the times that they had together.
