Whistling was a sound that Alana got used to hearing. It was a sound she was hearing right now, in fact. The huntress sat in the cool air of the woods with her feet in the small pond. Her favorite spot. Her favorite spot that quickly became Clarisse's favorite spot.

Clarisse admired how peaceful Alana looked. Her hair blew in the wind and she leaned back on her hands with her eyes closed. The light from the sunrise through the trees only added to the gorgeous scene in front of her. She almost didn't want to disturb her. Almost. "Hey Starshine," Clarisse greeted, sitting next to her.

"Hi Clarey," Alana smiled, turning to her. The two sat in a peaceful silence for a little, just listening to the birds chirp. "Why do you whistle around me?" Alana asked, tilting her head to the side slightly.

The Ares girl bit the inside of her lip. She honestly thought Alana hadn't noticed. I mean she had been whistling before confronting the huntress for two years now, Clarisse just assumed she would never notice. "Um well you startle really easily so... I just figured it was an easy way for you to know I was behind you."

Alana felt her cheeks heat up. "Oh. Everyone else just stomps when they get close," she looked at anything but Clarisse.

Clarisse scoffed. "Yeah and they still end up startling you half the time." She saw it. Alana didn't always notice the stomping.

The huntress finally brought herself to look at Clarisse. "That's so sweet," she smiled.

Clarisse cleared her throat, looking at the pond instead. "Anyway.. I was looking for you to ask if you wanted to set a time for our practice this week."

Alana thought for a moment. "Friday?" She asked.

Clarisse nodded. "That works."

The girls started training together at least once a week after the fight with Xander. It was Alana's idea, she wanted to learn more styles of fighting and defense.

"That reminds me," Alana mentioned. "I need to call my mom."

"You want to do it right now?" Clarisse asked. "We can make a rainbow with the pond water."

Alana shook her head. "I don't have a golden drachma."

Clarisse pulled something out of her pocket and threw it at Alana, who just barely caught it. "I do."

The huntress looked at her softly. "You sure?"

"Yeah," the Ares girl waved it off. "I have more at my cabin."

"Thank you." The girls started making a rainbow appear. "I'll bring you another one later."

"No you won't," Clarisse stated. "It's fine Lana."

They sat there as Alana thought of all the things she needed to for the call to work. Soon enough her mom appeared in the water. "Hi mom!"

"Alana!" Artemis smiled. The two called about once a week, sometime every two weeks, but the calls were always a highlight for the goddess. "What's going on dearest?"

"Not much," Alana answered. "There's a new kid that came yesterday."

Clarisse rolled her eyes at the mention of Percy, causing Alana to flick her shoulder.

"Oh, hi Clarisse," Artemis greeted as she noticed the other girl. The goddess of the wilderness knew more about Camp Half-Blood than anyone else. She knew all of her daughter's friends and what happened there. Clarisse was one of the few she heard about a lot.

"Hi Artemis," Clarisse waved.

"Oh, mom," Alana called, causing the goddess to redirect her attention. "I finally beat that training simulation I was telling you about."

Artemis smiled again. "That's great Als."

"Yeah took her long enough," Clarisse teased, nudging the younger huntress.

Alana rolled her eyes, but still had a smile on her face. She shoved Clarisse lightly, causing her to laugh. "Oh shush."

The girls look at each other, smirking, then started laughing to themselves. Like an inside joke that they didn't even understand. Artemis watched and sighed to herself. She might just owe Aphrodite money...

"Heroes... it's time. The game begins."

Alana tuned out the rest of Chiron's speech. It hadn't changed since she was six, there was no reason to listen to it. Luke and Percy were standing behind her having a conversation that she was also not listening to. Annabeth told her that she had to go get something so she would meet them at the front later. Alana decided to make faces at her best friend from across the river.

Clarisse tuned out Chiron's speech aswell. Most of the campers did. Clarisse was actually looking at Alana and waiting for her to get bored. Anytime the huntress got bored she always looked at someone she was close to and made faces. Clarisse always needed something to do while Chiron was yapping his horse legs off, so she looked at Alana to get her to make faces in her direction.

After a while the conch shell blew and cheers erupted from the campers. "Let the games begin!"

Alana focused up and sent a wink to Clarisse who pretended to glare, then winked back. She turned to her own team, particularly Luke, Annabeth, and Percy. "You're gonna be fine, Percy," the huntress assured, although she knew what Annabeth was doing to him, and that was absolutely a lie.

"You two know what you're doing?" Annabeth asked Luke and Alana.

"Yes ma'am," Luke answered.

Both turned to Alana, who just smirked at them. "Aye aye captains," she saluted. The three smiled at each other, an unspoken bond between them. Ever since the first game Luke and Annabeth took head on, Alana said the same thing to them before every game. And they won every time.

Luke started to turn away before Annabeth stopped him. "Hey." He stopped in his tracks to look at her. "Today feel like a winning kind of day to you?"

He smirked at his little sister. "I'll see you on the other side," he simply stated. Alana nudged him and he just ruffled her hair. "Company! Move out!" Luke commanded.

"Kleos!" The soldiers yelled.

Percy started to follow them, but Annabeth stopped him. "Not you Sunshine, you're with me," she said, guiding him away.

Alana smirked at the nickname, prepared to tease her about it later. "Us," She corrected. Alana would be doing her job slightly differently today, in order to keep both Annabeth and Clarisse in check, as well as Percy alive.

They started walking through the woods, Alana and Annabeth slightly ahead of Percy. "Sunshine?" Alana whispered teasingly.

"Shut up," Annabeth hissed. "It's not any different than Clarisse calling you Starshine."

Alana shut up at that. "So um Alana what are you doing? Cause Luke said you have a different job than the rest of us and..." Percy asked, trailing off.

"Oh!" She turned to him, walking backwards as she talked. "I don't do the whole fighting part of it. I'm more of a diversion. I shoot arrows at people when they get near our flag, but from a hidden hill or ledge. That's where I'm heading right now, but I'm just walking with you two." The huntress explained.

Percy nodded. It made sense to him considering she was the best archer at camp. Alana turned around and walked with Annabeth again. Percy then tripped over something (or nothing, who knows) and fell onto the ground. Annabeth just said nothing, while Alana looked at him confused, trying to figure out how he fell. Percy stood up and looked at the girls. "I'm fine, thanks. But I appreciate you, you know, standing there silently," he said, looking at Annabeth as he said it.

The boy proceeded to go on a rant about how important this was to him. Alana stopped listening and instead tried to figure out the best place for her to be. She didn't plan on watching this situation play out much, though she assumed it would be interesting. Annabeth finally said something to Percy, right as the conch shell blew. "Game on," the Athena girl smirked, putting her invisible cap on.

Percy looked between where Annabeth was and where Alana was standing. "Wait what?"

"A gift from my mom," Annabeth stated simply. "Don't worry you'll do great."

"Do great?" He looked at Alana, who just gave him a sympathetic look. "Do what great?" He asked her.

Alana pat his back. "Sorry kid, you've got this," she ran up a hill as fast as possible, in order to got give any information that would cause Annabeth to hate her for weeks.

The huntress looked out into the distance and took a deep breath. Something about the air up this high and the adrenaline caught Alana in a trance every time. She ended up being so caught up in distracting the red team that she didn't check on Percy at all. Something she should've realized was set up on all sides. Everyone prefers it when Alana is busy and not worrying about something or someone.

A loud scream made Alana stop in her tracks. She knew that scream. She dropped her bow, not worried about it getting back to her, it always does, and ran to the other side of the ledge.

Clarisse was on her knees, clutching half of her spear, and screaming at Percy, who appeared to be holding the other half. She quickly stood up and lifted the blonde by his shirt, reminding Alana of how they first met.

The conch shell signaled the end of the game, followed by the sound of Luke and the other soldiers cheering with the flag. Alana quickly ran down the hill to get to everyone, mainly Clarisse. As she got down there, Clarisse had already shoved Percy away and walked off. Alana grabbed the pieces of the spear and chased after her.
