The Beginning
Sitting at the bar, Kaitlyn swirled her drink around in the glass as she let out a sigh.
It was after taping for Smackdown and Main Event, she doesn't normally go out. Usually she was on a flight by now to Florida to have a few days rest before starting work all over again for weekend shows and then TV Monday and Tuesday.
The repeat cycle of a WWE Superstar/Diva.
But with her recent win of the Divas Championship from Eve - also since Eve decided to leave the company - the girls decided to head out for a celebration, some of the news spreading to the guys as they joined in on the outing too.
Kaitlyn wasn't one for this party life, she did enjoy it here and there but she would rather grab a take-out, maybe a beer or two or a bottle of wine and head up to the hotel room and watch terrible 80's movies.
She could've done that, if she had her best friend.
AJ Lee or just AJ, was Kaitlyn's best friend until she started acting strange and started to obsess with her 'man of the moment' Daniel Bryan.
The more time went on, the more different AJ got to how she used to be; that spunky, smiley game nerd she acclaimed to be.
Kaitlyn realised how much her best friend had changed during her relationship, AJ even attacking Kaitlyn here and there in the backstage area of the arena.
Other men were added to that list such as Kane, CM Punk, John Cena and most recently Dolph Ziggler.
To Kaitlyn, she has lost her best friend.
Although she was rather good friends with Layla and Natalya - when Nattie wasn't being funny with her, they got along - it still hurt that she no longer had her fellow 'Chick Buster' who had been by her side since day one of NXT.
Sighing Kaitlyn downed the last of her drink, necking it back like it was nothing.
"Easy there, the night is only getting started!", Eve and Natalya appeared by the younger Diva's sides.
She gave them both a small smile as Natalya brought the three of them another round of drinks.
"So how does it feel, champ?", Eve asked as she checked her phone, looking up at Kaitlyn.
"It feels weird, will I ever get used to it?", she asked as she pondered her new status as the champion of the Divas Division.
"You will! I'm glad they picked you to be the next, you'll do a great job!", the Denver native smiled at her.
Behind the scenes, Eve was a wonderful person. Friendly, caring and just an all-round good person, Kaitlyn had bonded with her over these coming months due to their storyline together.
Eve just did good business. That's all their matches together were, no drama, just get it done.
However with AJ, her in-ring dramas happened to spill out into her real life, affecting her friendship with Kaitlyn.
"Thanks.", Kaitlyn smiled at her as the two headed off for the dance floor, leaving the Houston native by herself at the bar.
They both had attempted to get Kaitlyn on the dance floor earlier, yet with no feat they failed. Then again, Kaitlyn wasn't a dancing type.
This whole type of thing wasn't her scene.
"Come on hair twin, lets go pull some moves!", Seth placed a hand on his hair counterpart as he stood beside her.
Laughing slightly Kaitlyn shook her head, "You know I don't dance.", she replied.
"That's what Chad from High School Musical said, yet he still did!", the young Shield member countered with, leaving Kaitlyn questioning how he even knew about that Disney movie what had come out a couple years ago.
Maybe he was a closet High School Musical fan, that or he had young family members and they had seen it.
Kaitlyn wouldn't question him about it, that's for sure. Either that or he had just had abit too much to drink.
"No, I'm good thanks.", she laughed slightly as she shrugged Seth's hand off.
The two-toned tactician frowned at her, shaking his head."You're no fun.", Seth pouted. "C'mon, just one dance?", he asked trying to reason with her. His other two team members came over, standing beside him.
"Leave the lady alone Rollins, don't be mad because she rejected you for a dance.", Roman joked.
Kaitlyn sent the powerhouse of The Shield a thankful smile, him giving her a smile nod back.
"Okay, okay. Let's go hit up a table and grab a seat.", Seth tapped Roman's arm lightly as the pair headed off for nearest free table.
Watching the pair walk away, Kaitlyn shook her head letting out a slight laugh before looking down at her drink.
"Not one for the dance scene then?", someone asked in a gruff, low voice.
Turning her head to the side she noticed the final Shield member, Dean Ambrose was leaning against the bar. He was decked him his usual attire, leather jacket, t-shirt and jeans and that usual smirk on his face what seemed to be constantly there whenever she saw him around.
"Not really, no.", Kaitlyn replied simply with a shake of her head.
"Never did take you to be the dancing kind either.", Dean shrugged.
His answer caused a frown to form on the newly crowned Champion's face. "And what type do you take me as?", she asked as she looked at Dean with curiosity.
The ever so eccentric member of The Shield took a swig of his beer, studying the the woman before him he leaned back slightly and took a good look at her. His actions caused Kaitlyn to shift slightly on the bar stool, looking away from his gaze causing Dean to let out an amused 'hmm'.
Kaitlyn felt her mouth go dry, picking up her glass and necking down the last remainer of her drink before tapping her hand on the bar, gaining the bartenders attention. "Same please.", she requested.
"Put it on me.", Dean added causing her to look at him, he shrugged innocently. "Just being a gentleman.", he smirked slightly.
She didn't exactly know his intentions, but she was curious about what they were.
Kaitlyn sat there patiently, as she waiting for him to answer her question from minutes ago. Her foot tapped on the leg of the stool, paranoia setting in for the Divas Champion as she stared at the man who was returning her gaze, that same smirk on his face.
Dean knew that his delay in his answer was starting to have an effect on her, it was what he wanted.
"I'm not quite sure..", he started, Kaitlyn letting out a breath when he finally spoke. "..But I'm sure I'll find out.", he spoke in a matter-of-fact tone, confident that he would.
Hearing his answer made Kaitlyn tilt her head to the side, not understanding what he meant.
The bass of the song playing seemed to zone Kaitlyn out for a few moments as it blared throughout the bar. She didn't know whether if it was the songs lyrics, the sudden atmosphere in the bar, or just her mind playing tricks on her but she had a certain feeling overcome her.
Being close to the man in company had triggered this intriguing lust for him. If his game was to pull her in then he had succeeded.
Game, set and match.
Normally Kaitlyn wouldn't bat an eye at a guy who brought her a drink and attempted small talk with her, however something about Dean made her sense a difference in it.
His mannerisms threw her off, it made her feel uncomfortable yet she wanted to know about him.
She wanted to know what he would do.
'I see you, eyeing me.
I want you.
Why don't you?
Come to me.
I can be what you need.
Ooh baby.'
Kaitlyn wanted to know what Dean Ambrose was capable of.
Breaking his gaze from her, Dean downed the last of his beer, placing the bottle down on the bar. Adjusting his jacket before he wondered off, the back of his hand brushing against hers.
Kaitlyn looked back, seeing him disappear through the crowd with a frown on her face.
Like a magnet, a pulling force was beckoning inside her to go after him. Taking her drink he bought her, Kaitlyn downed it for liquid confidence before standing from the stool, smoothing out her clothing before heading off in his direction.
Manoeuvring through the crowded bar, Kaitlyn found herself coming to a dimly lit hallway. The colour of the walls made the place seem darker than it was.
Not finding him in sight, a hint of sadness washed over her as she fiddled with her fingers, looking down at the floor.
"Looking for someone?", a voice spoke from behind her.
Turning around Kaitlyn fount him leaning against the wall, hands in his jean pockets looking at her in questioning.
The sadness was replaced with excitement as he stood before her as she stood there awkwardly, her hands clasped infront of her.
"You.", Kaitlyn replied timidly, her voice quiet.
Hearing her answer brought a smile onto Dean's face, bringing out his dimples. Kaitlyn quickly noted that these were just another factor what played in her sudden attraction towards him.
Satisfied with her answer Dean reached out, hooking his finger into the belt loop of her jeans and pulled her closer to him, Kaitlyn non-reluctantly moving forward. The sudden moment caused Kaitlyn to place her hands on his arms, steadying herself.
Kaitlyn's heartbeat quickened, she could almost hear it. If it wasn't the dull sound of the music from the bar she was pretty sure Dean would hear it himself.
"Nervous?", Dean questioned as he looked down at her.
"Should I be?", Kaitlyn countered in question.
"You're alone with one third of one of the most feared faction on the roster, shouldn't that strike the fear in you?"
The feeling of Dean's hands resting on her waist, his thumbs rubbing at her exposed skin where her top had lifted slightly distracted Kaitlyn from her thoughts, it was almost comforting. In the sense that if his ever so slight touch hadn't sent this heat through her, it was almost comfortable, but it was ever so distracting.
Kaitlyn shook her head in reply and out of her daze, "Not so much fear, intriguing mostly."
His head tilted slightly at her answer before smirking, removing his hands from her hips and moved off of the wall, starting to walk away. Kaitlyn's arms fell back to her side as she was confused by his actions.
Leading her out here just for nothing?
As she was deep in thought, Kaitlyn felt someone move her hair over to one shoulder, leaning their head against hers instantly making her freeze in her place.
Turning her head slightly, it was Dean.
She thought he left.
"Maybe you should be.", Dean spoke lowly next to her ear, placing a kiss on her neck before walking away without another word.
Kaitlyn felt her body go almost limp at his words, moving to lean against the wall to steady herself. Biting her lip slightly she stared off in the direction he left as she tried to steady her breathing to calm herself down.
If she wasn't burning up already, she definately was now.
