The Vow
My love, my Dame
My infinite scintillating flame
I vow to be your loyal swain
For now I become yours
Till the end of my days
I testify, my soul, my lady
My sweet innocent maiden
My perpetual captor
My fire shall neither cease nor falter
deeper and vaster grows ablaze
my humble heart longs to contain
I resign my being for you, my love
Hold it within your pristine heart
The one place to embrace
The cascade surging through my veins.
I pledge myself to you, my love
My life is no longer my own
My afterlife is unknown
If I'm fortunate
If I'm adequate
If I'm to be heaven
I'll plead for my home
Your eyes are my home
Your breath is my air
Your voice is my song
Your arms are my shrine
Your heart is my altar
Your smile is my prayer
Your hand is my prize
I ache to call you mine
I need you in every way
My rib is not in place
My certain heart calls you
My present and future
My solace
My first and last
My onliest love
My other self
my life
My queen
my wife
'I love you' is not enough

That was My first poem ever!
I was trying to be in Akram's perspective (my favorite fictional son!) He's a romantic and highly sensitive character who is in love, obviously. And I didn't know how to write poetry or whether or not to call this a poem. I let him splatter his feelings all over the page and hoped that will help inspire me to continue writing my story (Melody). Little did I know, it inspired more poems and the ball started rolling from there. XD
Of course, readers started calling me Akram and thinking I was the one writing those poems! How odd! 🤔😂
