I found this in my notes and I have absolutely no memory of why or to whom I wrote it. But I think it's obvious I was trying to explain how to write dialogue and I must say I'm quite impressed with myself 🤣

I'll try to make up my own examples to show different ways in writing a dialogue as best as I can. Of course it's lacking and there's more ways to do it, depends on what's happening, what's being said, and the writer's preference but I hope this helps somehow....

I will use the same words in different ways. So Here goes:

"Don't laugh at me," She said.

"Don't laugh at me," she said in a loud tone.

"Don't laugh at me!"  She yelled/shouted/hollered.

"Don't laugh at me!" She shrieked, showing the veins in her neck.

She bit her lip for a second and looked down. "Don't laugh at me, okay?"

"Don't," she whispered through her teeth, "laugh. At me."

She pointed a warning finger. "Don't you laugh at me."

My face flushed, feeling the heat of anger running through me. "Don't. Laugh. At. Me!"

She buried her face in her palms. "Please, don't laugh at me."

"Don't you ever laugh at me!" (No tags)
