10 - The Call
The next morning, you woke up alone in Hoseok's bed. He must have gone to work already, but he had taken measures to wrap you up warm in his blankets. You smiled and remembered all the beautiful conversation you had shared last night.
Directly before falling asleep, he had whispered that he loved you. And though you had only known each other for a few days, you whispered it back. You looked in his eyes, and understood. It was an innocent love, blooming from having seen each other in your most vulnerable moments. And when you see someones soul in all that it is, how can you do anything but love it?
You pulled the carefully wrapped blankets off you and swung your legs off the bed. The morning light pouring through the window allowed you to see that it was foggy outside, and the rain had ceased. After stealing one of Hoseok's flannels from the closet, you quietly made your way to the balcony.
When you stepped outside, you were glad for the flannel and you pulled it close to your body. You couldn't help but notice that it smelled like him, and it made you smile.
Pulling out your phone, you dialed a familiar number and held it up to your ear.
"Hello?"
"Grandpa. You could've told me there was a boy here." His old and dusty laugh echoed through the phone in response.
"You wouldn't have gone if I had told you. You needed this, trust me."
"What do you mean?"
"Yeon (Y/N)," He said, calling you by your full name. "You were not your full self. I haven't seen your eyes be excited in so long. I had to do something. And even just hearing the life in your voice now, I know I did the right thing. You needed this, you needed him. And trust me, he needed you."
"He doesn't need me. He has all the little things you showed him."
"You can't put all your livelihood in one place, (Y/N). I knew he would love you, you're perfect for each other. And besides, he'll give you some inspiration for your book. I gotta go kid, use protection."
You rolled your eyes as he hung up, but you couldn't deny the smile on your face. Your heart swelled as you imagined him teasing you from home, likely still sitting in bed with your grandmother. For a moment you almost wished you were there, at home. But when a voice spoke out from behind you, the thought was gone from your mind.
"Hey."
You turned around and smiled at Hoseok. It really was a lovely place in time to be, whether it meant anything or not.
The end.
So what did you think? I had a fantastic time writing it.
Thank you so much for reading and commenting, it means the world to me.
I wrote it based off this idea of optimistic nihilism I had the other day, I hope it wasn't too existential to make a good story.
Anyways, thanks again and I hope you have a lovely day.
