29. Aftermath

(Momo POV.)

Deku stumbles, gripping his handless forearm, slowing the blood from it as it drips to the ground. Several Heroes rush down into the massive crater- including Shouto. While some of the other Heroes quickly get to where Shigaraki is at below in the smaller crater, Shouto is the first to reach Deku, catching him before he is able to collapse to the ground.

"He won... Is this finally over..?" I whisper aloud, watching as Shouto and Deku exchange words.

Multiple other Heroes swarm Shigaraki's location, several of them using their Quirks to retrieve him from the rubble safely. I can't tell from here if he's alive or not.. Both of his arms have been blown away, maybe from his Quirk backfiring..? Whatever the case is with him at least he's done for..

"Momo! Make some bandages!"

I focus my attention to Shouto, seeing him rapidly coming my way on his ice with Deku limply leaning on him. "Right!"

I create thick bandages right as they reach me. Shouto helps Deku sit down, keeping a hold on him so he doesn't fall over. His arm is still bleeding badly.. I press the bandages to his arm, tightly wrapping them around and slowing the bleeding. After that I very tightly wrap another higher up on his arm, cutting off the circulation completely..

"We need to get him to a medic," I tell Shouto, looking him in the eyes. "This is all I'm able to do for him..."

"Right. I'll get him there in a flash," he replies before lifting Deku back to his feet. Deku seems like he's barely conscious - awake enough that he's trying to cooperate with Shouto in standing. "Once I get him there safely I'll come find you!" he tells me as he leaves using his ice.

(Shouto POV.)

Thanks to Momo, Midoriya stopped losing blood - probably saving his life. I was able to get him to an ambulance and to some medics who're patching him up on the spot.. But he definitely needs to go to a hospital..

"You got him here in time, Todoroki," one of them tells me. "We treated him the best we can here, but he needs to be taken to the hospital."

"Alright," I reply, taking a step back and wincing, grabbing at my side now that my adrenaline is gone. "Shit...."

"Todoroki!?" one of them exclaims, hopping out of the ambulance and coming to my side. "Are you injured?"

"Dammit," I cough, holding my hand over my mouth as I taste iron. There's blood on my palm that wasn't there before. "What the hell..?" I cough again.

"Get in the ambulance. We're taking you to the hospital too," he tells me, leading me towards the vehicle.

Walking is suddenly painful. My ribs feel like they're bringing together and ripping apart my insides.. "What the hell happened..? I was fine a few minutes ago," I weakly grumble as I climb inside, taking a seat beside Midoriya's stretcher.

They shut the doors and we drive off. The medic in the back with us begins to examine me, looking in my eyes, and feeling my side.. "Your sudden movements along with you carrying Deku's extra weight must've knocked at least one of your fractured ribs loose, maybe piercing your lung," he informs me. "Can you breathe okay? Are you getting dizzy or lightheaded?"

"My breathing.. Hurts.. Same with.. My.. Side," I heave out in between sharp breaths.

"Okay. There's nothing I can do for you right now, but we'll be at the hospital in no time so just try and remain still. Moving too much right now could make it worse," he informs me calmly.

"Okay," I reply, watching him as he goes to check on Midoriya's condition.

I pull my phone from a pocket on my belt and select Momo's message box.

« Going to hospital with Midoriya. Come when you can. Don't worry and stay safe

I should probably tell her what happened, but I don't want her to focus on me right now.. Making sure things are handled at the site is what's needed now...

(Momo POV.)

After hours of fighting, it's all finally over.. So many casualties and so much destruction happened here today... Looking around the ruins of what Kamino once was, it's ridiculous at the amount of power that was focused here today..

"Creati!"

I look over my shoulder and see Eijirou coming my way. His body is all bruised and he has bandages covering the entirety of his arms and his chest. "Eiji- Red Riot," I state, turning fully to face him. "I'm glad to see that you're okay," I smile at him, relieved that he's alive and well.

"I so happy you're okay!" he exclaims, wrapping his arms around me and hugging me tightly. "I was surprised when I saw you here fighting and helping out with Shouto!"

I return his hug and pat his scratched up back. "No need to worry. Everything's over now and I'm fine," I remind him. "Are you and Katsuki alright?"

He parts from me and scratches his head. "Katsuki was taken to the hospital to have his arms and hands tended to. With the prolonged fighting against Gigantomachia he pushed his muscles and Quirk a bit too far," he tells me, glancing away with worry in his eyes.

"He'll be fine, you know he will," I assure him, taking a step forward and setting my hand on his shoulder. "Anyway, how are you? Are your arms okay?'

With his thumb he wipes a single tear from the corner of his eye and smiles while nodding. "Yeah I'm alright. Just got some bad scrapes is all, but I'm pretty sturdy these days," he tells me as he starts to look around. "Anyway, where's that husband of yours? Shouto get injured too?"

"Um, I actually don't know where he went to," I reply, looking around for him. "We parted after he took Deku to an ambulance and then I've been busy dealing with the media and assisting people who still need help.."

"Well things are wrapping up now. All the Villains have been hauled off and the injured are being escorted to the hospitals," he replies while pulling out his phone. "Maybe you missed a call. You check your phone recently?"

Hmm.. Maybe.. I pull my phone from my jacket pocket- I never did take the time to change into my costume before I left my parent's.. "Oh. Shouto went to the hospital with Deku.." I say aloud as I read his text.

"Is he hurt?"

"He didn't say... He said not to worry and to come when I can.." I state while typing out a response. "Knowing him he's probably hurt and doesn't want me to worry," I sigh, seeing right through that dense husband of mine.

"What hospital is he at?" Eijirou questions.

"I don't know yet.."

"Oh! He's at the same one as Katsuki," Eijirou states, wide eyed and looking at his phone. "He just texted me and said Midoriya and Shouto are there, both in the ER...."

"What!?"

"Don't freak out," he says, putting his hands up in an attempt to calm me. "Let's head over and check up on them."

"Yeah.. Okay.. We need a ride.."

"I'll call us one. You should probably call whoever you left your kids with and let them know what's up," he says, dialing a number and stepping away.

"Right.." I mutter, looking down at my phone and dialing Mother's number.

It rings once before she picks up loudly. "Momo! I saw everything on TV! Are you and Shouto alright!? I saw both of you fighting and all your other Hero friends fighting!" she exclaims.

"Mother, calm down please. I'm fine, just a few scratches is all..." I reply, looking down at my bandaged arm. "H-how are the twins doing?" I ask, not wanting her to worry about Shouto just yet..

"They're no trouble at all. Uchimura had some of the girls run out and get some formula for them before they woke up, but they've mostly been sleeping. Everyone here just adores them," she happily informs me. "Are you and Shouto going to be coming by soon to pick them up?"

"Um, actually.. Sho-shouto's in the hospital.. I was going to go there to check on him and make sure everything is okay. We got separated after the fight and he texted me while he was in the ambulance," I fill her in. "So, are you able to watch them for awhile longer?"

"Of course, Momo. They're in good hands. You don't need to worry," she warmly says. "Go be with your husband. Make sure he'll be okay. Just update me once you know what'll be happening. You know I love him like a son."

"I know, Mother. I will. Thank you again for helping us out.."

I end the call and see Eijirou looking my way with a sympathetic smile. "C'mon. Car will be here soon," he says, motioning me over with his head.

(Shouto POV.)

Damn, I can't believe that happened... A pierced lung due to one of my ribs breaking.. Not sure how long I've been out of surgery, but they roomed me with Midoriya. Seems like he's still out though. Wonder when Momo and Uraraka will be coming here..

Attempting to sit up is out of the question.. Just lying here I'm sore even though I can still feel the anesthesia.. "Man this sucks.. Not how today was supposed to go," I groan, shutting my eyes and sighing.

Just then the door slides open. I open my eyes and see Momo standing there, wide eyed and staring at me. I smile, offering my hand out to her, showing her that I'm okay. "Shouto.." she whispers, closing the door and coming to my side. She takes my hand, squeezing it tightly as she leans down and kisses me. She pulls back after a few seconds but remains close to my face. "How are you feeling?"

"Tired. Body aches.. But I'm fine," I assure her, keeping a hold on her hand. She has some bandages on her arms and hands, but it doesn't seem to be anything serious. "I'm just glad that you're okay."

She smiles at me, looking as if she's holding back tears. "I was worried when I heard what had happened. The doctors told me that Recovery Girl was busy and was unable to see you.." she says, taking a seat beside my bed.

"Can't rely on the old woman for everything, right?" I state, closing my eyes. Today was extremely exhausting. I don't think I'd have the stamina to be healed by her anyway. "So, how are your parents holding up with the twins? Kinda sucks that you got discharged and now you're right back here with me.."

"Don't say that.. You're here because you did your job today.. It happens.. And, I'll always be right here by your side, Shouto," she wamrly conveys as I open my eyes and stare at her. "Mother said they're no problem and we can take our time today.. Stuff like this comes with our line of work.."

"Even so... I want to be home with you guys, but also," I turn my head and look to Midoriya, "leaving him in this state is going to be hard.."

"Ochaco is on her way here.. Eijirou and I called her while we were in the car.. If he's still out by the time she gets here, at least we can comfort her.. You still need to rest and get examined before we can go home anyway. We'll be here awhile... And, helping ease our friends is just as important.."

"Yeah I know," I sigh. "Well, while we wait for her and the doctors, can you flip the news on? I wanna see how everything went. It's completely over now, right?"

"Yes," Momo says as she gets up to turn on the television that's mounted on the wall. "All the Villains were captured, and every injured civilian and Hero were taken care of. The media has been going haywire over it all, calling this the start of a new age.."

"A new age, huh? Almost a decade of dealing with the League and it all ended in the destruction of Kamino again..." I mutter, pressing the button on my bed, raising it up so I'm in a reclined sitting position.

The news is the first thing that comes up as Momo turns on the TV. "The League of Villains has finally fallen. Number Two Hero Deku has singlehandedly defeated Tomura Shigaraki, aka Tenko Shimura. The all out brawl between the two lasted nearly thirty minutes, all while the other Heroes took down Shigaraki's underlings," the anchorwoman states while playing a clip of the horrendous fight. The clip shows Shigaraki's assault on Midoriya when he disintegrated his hand... "As you can see, the fight was brutal - it even ended with Deku losing a portion of his arm.."

"They're gonna be all over this..."

Momo and I turn and look, seeing that Midoriya has his eyes parted and is watching the news too. "You should be resting," I inform him.

"You don't get to lecture me about that, Shouto," he mumbles with a slight laugh while attempting to sit up.

"Deku.." Momo walks over to his side and sets her hand on his chest, stopping him and making him remain laying down. "Even so, Shouto's right.. Take it easy.. Ochaco is on her way over here and you and I both know that she'll be extremely worried about you.."

Midoriya shuts his eyes and exhales deeply. "I know.. All throughout that fight, she and our daughter was the main thing on my mind... I know protecting the city and the people is what my job is and I'm supposed to put my life on the line in order to fulfill it... But.. As soon as I lost my hand I felt scared.." he says, holding his bandaged arm up and looks at where his hand once was. "I've been so confident in my power and abilities that I almost forgot what true fear felt like.. But this was a different fear.."

"A different fear?" I question, tilting my head, wondering what he means exactly.

He glances my way and shrugs. "I'm sure you've felt it.. The fear of not being around to raise your kid.. She's not even born yet but, I already love her and I want to be around and watch her grow up," he informs me.

"Oh, that.. Yeah.. I've felt that fear," I admit, moving my hand down to the new stitches I just got. "It can be scary, but it'll also push you to do even better than you have before - for your family," I state, looking from him to Momo. "I never really had a normal happy family so the feeling was confusing and new to me.. So I'm no expert in it..." I add, focusing back on Midoriya.

"Shouto.."

"I guess you're right," he chuckles, hitting the button on his bed to sit up more. "After tonight I'm sure things will be calming down though, don'tcha think?"

"Of course," Momo replies, smiling kindly to him. "The League has been the largest issue in Japan and now that they're gone you should have plenty of time to rest and spend with your family."

"Yeah.. Plus I'll be needing to figure out what to do about this now," he states, looking down at his arm.

Just then the door slides open. The three of us turn and see Uraraka enter the room. "Deku! You're awake! Are you okay!?" she exclaims, rushing to his side.

"I'm okay, Ochaco," he replies with a sheepish smile. "It's not as bad as it seems.."

"You lost half your arm, Deku!" she shouts with tears falling from her eyes. She grabs his hand and holds it, crying as she collapses to her knees. Momo sets her hand on her back, probably trying to comfort her... "I was so scared when I saw everything going down on TV! I thought I might lose you forever and I wouldn't even be there to be by your side!" she cries.

"Ochaco... Deku is fine... He lost his hand but-"

"I know! I'm just... All these feelings and emotions are too overwhelming!"

I can't help but feel sympathetic for them both... Uraraka is definitely dealing with the more intense pregnancy symptoms now, and this situation as a whole cannot be good for her... Or him right now...

"Ochaco..." Midoriya grips her hand and makes her look into his eyes. "I love you more than anything... I know it was scary and reckless, but it was also necessary... We put an end to the entire League..." he says. "This was a win, even if it doesn't seem like it right now."

Damn... Even I know that wasn't the right thing to say... Especially to a pregnant hormonal woman..

Uraraka stands up, wiping the tears from her eyes. "I know that being a Hero is important to you, Deku, but I thought we were also important!" she shouts, turning and storming out.

"Ochaco! Wait!" Momo rushes after her, leaving me and Midoriya alone together...

"Well... That could have went better..." I mutter, looking over to him.

He sighs and holds his hand over his face with what looks like a forced smile. "Yeah... Damn.. Looks like balancing this stuff is going to take more effort than I initially thought.." He sighs again, removing his hand from his face and glances over to me. "You just went though something like this. How'd you handle Momo being pregnant while on bedrest after your wedding?"

"Not as well as I should have.." I admit, laying back against the bed and shutting my eyes. "She worried about me a lot because I didn't want to rely on her, which, I should have.. I probably would have healed faster... And I also had to learn all there was about her crazy hormones.. Just about anything I said or did would make her cry or get angry," I inform him, opening my eyes and look his way. "It's a thin line to walk, and yours is thinner than mine.. You just lost your whole hand and a portion of your arm... I'm not really sure what you should be doing other than being with her and trying to comfort her..."

Midoriya looks down at his missing hand again, moving his arm around and laughing slightly. "It still feels like it's here.." he chuckles. "I know I should take time off to heal up and spend time with her but-"

"There's no buts about it, Midoriya," I interrupt, now glaring at him. "Trust me, you will need to be with her during this time. Not for yourself, but for her.. This was one of the worst things that could have happened - the only thing worse would be you dying. Right now you need to rest."

"I know you're right. I know it.. But.. I'm so close to being number one, and this could put it all back-"

I sigh loudly, pushing the blankets off of me and ripping the IV and monitors out of my arm and off my body. He's too focused on staring at his hand that he doesn't pay me any mind as I walk up and punch him in the face.

I grab his shirt and make him focus on me. "Stop being so selfish, Midoriya! Take my damn advice and tend to your fiancée! Don't make the same stupid mistakes I did! It'll save portions of your relationship if you focus your energy on her and your daughter right now! Being number one isn't everything!" I shout at him. I feel my surgery wound starting to seep blood and I let Midoriya go, taking a step back and placing my hand over the wet bandage on my side.

We stare at one another, me glaring and him looking shocked as he rubs his face where I hit him. "You need to get your priorities right," I state, backing up and taking a seat on my bed. "Right now your family needs to come first."

He rubs his cheek, keeping his eyes away from me. "Okay... Did I really make her that upset..? I'm still a little out of it," he informs me, chuckling nervously. "Maybe I should go and find her.."

"No.. If you're still feeling the drugs then you should stay and rest. Momo went after her and she's better at this sort of stuff than both of us combined," I sigh. "Just sit tight," I say as I reach over to my bedside and press the button to call a nurse for my stitches, "Momo will handle calming her down. Just try to think things through better when she comes back..."

(Momo POV.)

Catching up with Ochaco was quite easy. I can completely understand what she's going through right now and this entire situation is not fun in the slightest.. And with Deku and his goal of being the greatest Hero in the world... It's gotta be even more stressful...

We're in the hallway, a few rooms down from where Shouto and Deku are at. Right now the hospital is packed with doctors, nurses, Heroes and victims from the Kamino incident as well as their family members.. And Ochaco...

"You don't have to follow me, Momo," she says while wiping her eyes.

"I'm not going to leave you alone right now, Ochaco," I assure her, setting my hand on her shoulder in an attempt to ease her emotions. "Deku just woke up and he's probably on a lot of painkillers.. I know that with Shouto there were plenty of times when he'd say some poorly judged things to me," I forcefully laugh. "I know it's hard to control what you feel right now, and it's even harder watching the one you love get hurt while doing his job..."

She wipes her eyes more. Her tears won't stop and it's understandable.. "I know.. I get it, but.. Everything seems too hard right now.."

"It'll get better... It's dark before the dawn and with the League gone now... That darkness is gone.." I'm not sure anything I say right now will help.. I want her to feel more at ease, even if just a little. Enough to be by Deku's side.. "Why don't we go back and you can just be with him.. Even if he can't say it outright in his current state, he does need you right now."

She finally gets her crying under control and stops. It doesn't look like she's slept at all recently either.. She was probably up all night watching the news about everything that was happening.

I set my arm around her and gently begin to lead her back to their room. "Everything will be okay. I'm certain crime activity will go down drastically after this.." I calmly say, hoping my words are true.

"I hope so.."

We reach their room again and upon entering there are a two nurses in - one tending to Shouto's stitches and the other beside to Deku. "Did something happen?" I question, focusing on Shouto.

"Um... Well.."

"Your husband got worked up and punched Deku. He tore a few of his stitches open," the nurse beside him tells me while giving Shouto a slight scowl.

Ochaco goes to Deku's side and I go to Shouto. "What were you thinking? Why did you punch him?" I ask as I set my hand on his shoulder. "He's your best friend."

He glances to Deku and Ochaco as he answers, "Because..."

"I'm fine, Ochaco," Deku says. "Shouto was just trying to convey something to me and I wasn't exactly listening.. Everything is fine."

"Oh..." I mutter, listening in on them.

Shouto sets his hand on mine and holds it. "You think I'd punch my best friend in the face without a good reason?" he chuckles.

"Hold still," the nurse sternly says.

Shouto stops moving and remains quiet. As she finishes tending to him I glance back at Deku and Ochaco. They're talking quietly and it seems like everything is better, even if just a little bit...

"There we go," the nurse speaks up. Shouto breaths out a sigh and removes his hand from mine. The nurse looks to us both after replacing the bandage on his stitches. "Make sure he doesn't life anything that will put strain on his wound, and that he gets proper rest over the next week," she says to me.

I give a small bow of my head, "I will."

"Good. I have your discharge papers here so you're free to go," she informs us while motioning to the small table with her eyes.

His papers are there and I smile at the nurse. "Thank you for patching him up," I state, bowing again. "I apologize for the trouble he caused."

She nods as she gathers up her things, then leaves the room with the other nurse. Once she's gone I focus down at Shouto. "You have a good handle on pissing off nurses," I tell him, half joking.

He pulls his blankets off his lower body and turns so his feet are on the floor, giving an eye roll. "Guess it's my third Quirk," he says as he stands up. He grunts slightly and places his hand over his wound. "Anyway, I wanna go home."

"Are you sure?" Instinctively I reach out and trace my fingers along his hand where he's covering his injury. "You would probably get more rest here-"

"Momo, I want to be home with you and the kids," he speaks up, grabbing my hand and pulling me close. "You haven't been home in a week and I've barely gotten to spend any time with them. After what we just went through, I just want to be with my family."

"Okay.."

I don't fully know how he feels, but I can only imagine the emotional stress he's gone through over the last week. We barely have spent time apart since moving in together. Of course we take separate patrols and missions sometimes, but we share an office and home. Our time apart usually doesn't last more than a few hours at a time, and, we've never slept apart in years until the twins were born..

However, leaving those two right now doesn't feel right.. I glance back at Deku and Uraraka, seeing that she's taken a seat beside him and is rubbing his right arm, the one where he now lacks a hand.

"Do you want to stay for them?" Shouto suddenly speaks up.

I turn back and look at him in the eyes. He seems to be concerned too, but not as much as me. "I mean.. Maybe-"

"We're okay, Momo." I turn around and look at them. Ochaco is smiling and Deku seems to be doing a lot better. "You and Shouto should head home. Inko is on her way here to come and see Deku too so the room is going to be packed if you stay."

"You're sure you two are going to be okay right now?"

"Yeah," Deku replies, reaching over and setting his hand Ochaco's. "We have a few things to talk about in private before my mom gets here. Thank you for being here for us."

I smile and leave Shouto's side, walking over to them both. I set my hand on Deku's shoulder and pull him in gently for a hug. "We'll always be here for you guys. I'm glad we all made it through this," I reply, parting from him. "Make sure you both get some rest."

Warmth takes a hold of my hand. Shouto steps up beside me fully dressed and ready to go. I give his hand a slight squeeze which he returns. "Let's go home," he whispers to me. He turns his attention to Ochaco and Deku, nodding to them. "We'll see you guys later. Call if you need anything, and make sure you rest and take care of one another. Got it, Midoriya?"

Deku nods and sighs. "Yeah, I know. I got the message," he replies as he rubs the bruise on his cheek.

"Stay safe you guys. And take care of those cute little babies of yours," Ochaco tells us with a smile.

Shouto pulls me by the hand and we leave them alone. Whatever him and Shouto discussed while we were gone seems to have helped..

"They'll be fine," Shouto says as we maneuver down the busy hall. Countless doctors and nurses are still busily rushing from room to room dealing with all the patients that came in today. "Once the drugs leave his system he'll be back to himself."

"I know," I sigh. "I can just understand their situation a little too well.."

"Same here. But they can get through it just like us.." he replies as we reach the elevator. He presses the button and we wait for the doors to open. "You should let your mom know that we're coming to pick up the boys."

The elevator doors open and we step inside. Shouto pressed the ground floor button and we descend, along in the elevator. "I was thinking we could stay for breakfast. I'm starving and if we just pick them up and rush out then that means one of us will have to cook when we get home," I inform him.

"Well, if they're willing," he begins to say as he sets his arm around me, "maybe they'll let us crash there and take a nap.."

I giggle at his willingness to stay at my parent's mansion as I lean into him more. "I'm sure they'd be willing to allow that. They might even let you sleep in the same room as me this time."

"We're married.. They'd better.."
