i like to pretend that you're still out there somewhere

maybe you're drawing your dog somewhere or reading your favorite book that was so worn it had enough tape on it to stock an office supplies store

you could be sitting outside playing the ukulele talking and singing to the birds

or you're making stupid jokes with your family

i like to pretend that we'll run into each other and pick up right where we left off

you'll give me a hug like you always did whenever we saw each other

it's silly to pretend because i know

you're not doing those things

you're not here

you're not anywhere

you're gone

i miss you every single day and i wish that you were doing all those things and more
